I’m delighted to have one last – and unexpected – feature for e-shoot week on English Wedding. Wedding photographer Andy McDonald has been off Twitter poorly (he says plague; I think man-flu), but made it back just in time to submit this lovely sunny engagement shoot to round off the week!

John and Sarah’s pre-wedding shoot is from last summer. I asked if Andy had a bright, colourful e-shoot to share and he didn’t disappoint: expect sunshine and the green, green grass of summer čÖé

This was an outdoor engagement shoot at Dunham Massey in Cheshire, a Georgian National Trust property in a deer park – sounds beautiful doesn’t it?! So are the photos. Enjoy!

My favourite image: the bridges in Castlefield are instantly recognisable

My favourite image from this e-shoot: the bridges in Castlefield are instantly recognisable, Alexis and Adam are so into each other (and I love the damp Mancunian in the foreground too!)

E-shoot week has been so much fun – it’s been great to feature something different and I hope you’ve been enjoying the variety! But it doesn’t stop there… today I’m delighted to be sharing Alexis and Adam’s pre-wedding shoot in Castlefield, otherwise known as Manchester’s Official Department of Cool.

Alexis and Adam are a very good looking couple, stylish and a pretty perfect match if you ask me! They’re also up for a laugh and that’s how you should approach your e-shoot. If you’re ready for anything you’ll have a great time and get fantastic photography out of your day.

This being Manchester, it rained. In fact no, it poured. It does. But photographer Jonny Draper says it’s important to him to shoot an engagement shoot when it’s booked, no matter what the weather does – it’s a reassurance for couples that come rain or shine, they’ve chosen their wedding photographer well for his reliability as well as for the amazing images he’ll create with them on the day.

Urban e shoot - by Tierney Photography in Sheffield

Urban e shoot - by Tierney Photography in Sheffield

To continue e-shoot week on English Wedding with something really special, today I have a brilliant urban shoot to share with you. Nicky and Martyn chose the centre of Sheffield for their pre-wedding photography, and there are some stunning and original shots here which really stand out for me: the tram speeding past is really creative and Nicky and Martyn themselves are pretty cool customers too!

This e-shoot goes to show you can choose any location for engagement photography: cityscapes have their own stark beauty and often bags more character than countryside and landscaped gardens. If you live in the city, love it and identify yourself as a city girl or boy – then consider your favourite haunts and explore your hometown on your e-shoot.

Tierney Photography have stepped up to show you how it’s done.

I love this! Proper phone boxes make a great location for a photo

I love this! Proper phone boxes make a great location for a photo - and Rebecca's dress is gorgeous!

Anneli Marinovich is a photographer I haven’t featured on the English Wedding blog before… but I’m about to make up for that, and there will be more to come very soon!

Anneli sent me a couple of images from Rebecca and Ben’s fun engagement shoot in London and I was hooked – this couple are amazing, you’ll love Rebecca’s red dress and Anneli’s created a collection of images which really show the bride- and groom-to-be, and our pretty cool capital city, at their very best.

Enjoy!

I love Rebecca's beautiful smile in this shot! It's wonderful to see someone enjoying an engagement shoot so much - and inspiring too! (And the dress is gorgeous... where do I get one?)

Couple walking in snow

The perfect winter's day for Lee and Sally

This engagement photo session from ARJ Photography inspired the entire concept of e-shoot week on the English Wedding blog.

Adam from ARJ Photography submitted his images of Sally and Lee at Trentham Gardens near Stoke before Christmas and I fell in love with the sparkly snow, bright sunlight and beautiful location – with Lee and Sally being such a fantastic couple and Adam’s enthusiasm for the shoot, this couldn’t be more perfect.

Engagement photography - a loving couple

Tom and Laura are very much in love and it shows in their eyes, their faces, the way they stand so close

When I asked about engagement photography sessions for the blog, Manchester photographer Neil Redfern promised me a very special shoot with Tom and Laura – and this certainly has everything you could ask for from a pre-wedding photo shoot!

Hugo is the star of this blog feature, but what really makes this collection stand out for me is Tom and Laura’s family. I love the romantic photos of Tom’s mum and dad – they look as head over heels in love as any newly engaged couple I’ve seen!

Tom explains how his family focused engagement shoot came about. “I really wanted to have some beautiful family photos taken to give as gifts for Christmas presents this year. My sister has a young family and I have just got engaged to the girl I have been with since I was 18, so I thought it was a great time to do it. We are a REALLY close family so I love the idea of having all these┬á amazing photos of us looking happy and healthy.”

Couple eclipsed by sunshine

Lee and Hayley are eclipsed by beautiful sunshine in Chris Hanley's first stunning shot

Top of my list of photo shoots to show you in e-shoot week is Lee and Hayley’s Manchester engagement shoot by Chris Hanley Photography. Chris takes the concept of an e-shoot and runs with it, creating images which you’ll treasure as much as you do your wedding photography.

Lee and Hayley chose a master photographer and have an exceptional engagement album to treasure – and these are some favourites from the day.

engagement photography on english weddingHello there, and happy Sunday night / Monday morning. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed as much gorgeous sunshine as we had here in Cheshire today. Well it’s back to work with a bump on Monday morning – for me too – but I think I can lift your spirits by saying… “Welcome one and all to e-shoot week on the English Wedding blog!”

This week’s all about engagements. Christmas and New Year are peak times for proposals, and if you’re just setting out on your wedding planning adventure let me say a very happy Congratulations to you and your other half – and enjoy every second of the whole experience! It will be a journey you will never forget.

So what’s e-shoot week all about? I thought it would be a great opportunity to share some pre-wedding photography sessions with everyone. I featured the first ever e-shoot on English Wedding back in October and it inspired me to look into pre-wedding photography in a big way. Many photographers offer engagement photography as a way to get comfortable with being photographed before your big day – and I think it’s a fantastic thing to do.
