Boho wedding styling is massively popular for 2018 and I’m a huge fan of the peacock chair / palm fronds / forehead jewellery look. Throw in an eastern rug and bare toes and you’ve stolen my heart completely. But for those of you who don’t want to go full boho – especially if you have your heart set on a traditional bridal gown – I have something very special to share with you today.

Charlotte Balbier’s 2018 Bohemian Blush collection of wedding gowns incorporates the best of boho styling with traditional fabrics, silhouettes and embellishment. All the gowns are hand-created from the finest French laces, soft flowing chiffons, layered organzas, rich mikados and silk tulles. The 2018 colour palette introduces ballet pink, sugared peach, blush pinks and peach, pearled ivory and a pistachio green alongside the classic and ever-popular ivory and champagne shades.

Words I would use to describe this shoot are glamorous, gothic, chic, romantic, feminine, and dramatic. Delicate fabrics with lots of fine details and soft flowing layers. Dark and striking make up looks; curls and waves in simple but stunning styles. Elegant and spectacularly detailed cakes and hand drawn calligraphy. All in a colour palette of deep, passionate reds and burgundy mixed with greys, gold and subtle pinks. Heaven!

Carlton Towers is an incredible country house sitting in 250 acres of Yorkshire parkland. The grand Victorian exterior has a definite Downton Abbey feel to it, with a touch of Hogwarts magic! Inside all of the rooms are stunning, from the phenomenal ceilings and brass chandeliers, to the elaborately carved woodwork and fireplaces.

Did I ever tell you how much I adore flowers? If I could spend my days surrounded by this kind of pretty I’d be in heaven… I’m so so lucky that my work involves beautiful imagery landing in my inbox every single day. And I’m thrilled to be sharing images from Charlotte Balbier‘s Untamed Love collection with you today. These are gowns with a fresh, new and exciting style – a wonderfully creative evolution of the Charlotte Balbier brand.

Floral prints are huge for 2017 & 2018. We love a bold statement – and the floral fabric of the Untamed Love and Bloom dresses are just out of this world. The beautiful collection is all very English Country Garden for the modern bride… and I can’t think of anything prettier, can you?

Are you sold on the bridal separates trend? I have to admit, I love the idea of separates so much – just for how beautiful they look! Today though, I wanted to show you bridal separates from another perspective – with Charlotte Balbier‘s gorgeous new imagery really showcasing the versatility of beautiful tops and skirts. So often we hear readers say, “I just wish I could wear my dress again!” – and the beauty of separates is, you can. Over and over… and you’ll look fabulous, I promise!

We adore Charlotte’s beautiful sheer lace and silver embellished Nova topper matched with the beautiful Wilder skirt… and jeans. So beautiful.

Charlotte Balbier’s Separates collection perfectly fuses the boundaries of bridal and fashion. The luxe lace toppers can be worn long after your wedding day – pair them with jeans for a chic everyday outfit.

You can even mix and match on your wedding day, investing in individual pieces to be worn and treasured long after your wedding day.

Sticking to seasonal flowers such as gorgeous tulips in a fresh crisp colour palette really brought the colours, textures and scent of spring to life. Utilising fresh flowers in the hair really co ordinates the look. Pamela Dunn created delicate texture using sheer voile fabrics – a perfect idea for softening any venue or backdrop.

Our springtime brides’ hair was kept soft and natural – beautiful curls and a rustic fishtail plait completed the look. Fresh floral crowns created a stunning focal piece.

Matching your wedding style with your venue is easy when you find a welcoming home-from-home which has years of character and charm in its very walls. Nestled among Lake District roads, with views to the distant hills and plenty of nooks and crannies for your guests to discover, is The Plough at Lupton, where today’s vintage-inspired shoot took place.

We have everything feminine and pretty with a sassy 1950s twist – a stunning hand painted wedding cake (the colours are SO fabulous for 2016!), a sweet little vintage rose bouquet and a real vintage coach which almost steals the show! (Seriously: hats off to the vintage bus drivers of Cumbria; I’m a local girl and I know our roads. You are legends!) Oh, and did I mention the festoon lighting from Typical Type? It’s divine… and I’d never seen anything like it before 2016. Definitely a must-have for weddings with plenty going on outside!

I consider myself a fierce supporter of British talent in the wedding industry. I’ve been approached by some major US brands who’d love to feature their wares on the English Wedding Blog… and I’ve always said no. My blog exists to help local brides and grooms find the best suppliers close to home, and I truly love discovering our own amazing designers.

Amy has to be the prettiest bride since ever. She’s gorgeous, full of joy and happiness and has a beaming smile… which comes from being on Dan’s arm, I think! I haven’t seen a prettier wedding in ages: the combination of spring blossoms, pretty florals and such a fab couple make today’s spring outdoor wedding really, really special.

Of course what makes a wedding blog special is the photography, and I was thrilled to read Amy and Dan’s glowing praise of my lovely photographer friend Mark at Evolve Photography in Devon. Choosing a wedding photographer is such a huge decision, and Amy and Dan told me Mark “was always friendly, calm, professional, and having now seen the photos we couldn’t have asked for more.”

There are so many highlights to show you from today’s outdoor wedding – the floral touches make it colourful and playful in style; the portraits around Dartington Hall are fabulous. I adore the cherry blossoms and the pretty ceremony space… oh and the reception styling is wonderful too!

There’s so much I love about Katie and Kevin’s wedding: their effortless style and choice of a glamorous, vintage inspired theme, their focus on friends and family… Katie describes their wedding in Lancashire as “An amazing party filled with love and laughter surrounded by the people we love the most!

And then there’s Katie’s beautiful Charlotte Balbier designer wedding dress, from The White Closet in Didsbury. What a stunning bride, and what a magical celebration. The images are by lovely Zoe at ZT Photography, who gets a glowing review from the bride and groom in their wedding report at the end of the feature!

Hi there my lovely, how are you this morning? I thought it was about time I showed you something new from the gorgeous and fabulously talented bridal designer Charlotte Balbier. Charlotte has launched her latest collection, A Decade Of Style, to celebrate 10 years of the Balbier brand – and she remains one of my all time favourite wedding dress designers.

Charlotte is so passionate about her designs: “Each gown has an identity, a distinct look and feel and its own story behind the magic. The collection captures a bride’s imagination, Charlotte’s main passion when designing each fashion forward piece with the bride in mind. Each bride embarks on a journey and consumed by love, they all have their own consuming love story to tell.

Every bridal collection launch has a story behind it – and for 2014 top UK wedding dress designer Charlotte Balbier has come up with individual love stories to go with every dress in her collection. Charlotte got in touch to tell me about the great reaction this new collection has already received from UK brides – and I’d love to know what you think.

The design which seems to be getting most attention – and it’s easily my personal favourite – is Beaullea. The exquisite lace back of the dress is just beautiful isn’t it?! I’ll show you the dresses and share Charlotte’s stories with you too. I love the romance of it all… I think Charlotte’s words really demonstrate her creativity as a designer – they’re fantastic!

Charlotte Balbier engagement blog (15)

I’m way over the top excited about this little blog post. Fabulous bridal designer Charlotte Balbier has announced her engagement to the love of her life Teddy Bedford. Having lived a real life ‘Sliding Doors’, growing up around the corner from each other, Charlotte and Teddy are now going to be busy making plans – quite possibly for a gorgeous winter wedding day.

It’s always big news when someone so popular in the wedding industry gets engaged… there’s a real buzz around Charlotte and Teddy’s engagement and we can’t wait to find out more about their plans over the next few months. This is far more exciting for me than any celeb weddings that might have happened in 2011!

Charlotte Balbier is at the forefront of UK bridal design, with her latest ‘Candy Kisses’ collection a dream of vintage inspired French lace, rose pinks and contemporary styles, slinky red carpet glamour and timeless elegance. I love Charlotte’s designs to bits – and I’m delighted that Charlotte has shared a little exclusive proposal story with English Wedding blog!
