I love letters. Writing has always been my life: from a secret love of spelling tests to language studies and then calligraphy… so I absolutely adore the striking look of light up letters. I have something very special for you (ok, for me!! but I know you’ll love it too!) this Friday morning πŸ™‚

Coordinated by the super organised and undeniably talented McAvoy Wedding Photography and featuring a fantastic weekday collaboration of local wedding supplier talent, today’s fabulously decadent photo shoot was an event that Words To Glow were only too delighted to contribute to. Featuring a beautiful seaside location, a wonderfully decadent hotel and oodles of sophistication to boot, what was not to love about this little beauty!

On the day of the shoot itself, the sun shone brightly and the dream team were lucky enough to be able to shoot in various locations, both inside and outside the Midland Hotel. Situated right on the curve of Morecambe’s seafront, the hotel was built in 1933 and as such maintains a distinct Art Deco feel to its interior and thus provided the initial inspiration behind the day’s shoot.

Paper fetish, anyone? [blogger pauses to raise hands] – it’s often part of wedding planning: you start looking at invitations and favours and see so many beautiful things you get hooked.

Welcome to my world!…Β  I’m Claire and I’m a paper addict πŸ™‚ so when I planned my first styled wedding shoot this year it had to be focused on the prettiest paper details.

Button and brooch bouquet by the fabulous Natasha at Pumpkin & Pye | Love quote flags by lovely Jo at Vintage Twee

We began with a simple concept: paper and mirrors. I would provide the paper and calligraphy details; photographer Jamie Vickerstaff would do his thing with mirrors and reflections. And wow, didn’t he just…

I wanted to show how you can create a wedding style around two simple ideas, and build on it to create an exciting and colourful display. Beginning with watercolour paper and calligraphy we added vintage stationery and china, a brooch bouquet in pastel colours, cakes with watercolour tiers and more details to create a cohesive look. I loved every second!

Warning: this blog post contains beautiful photographs of cake. I can guarantee you’ll be feeling a little cakey by the end – and I hope you’ll have fallen in love with these wonderful little wedding party picks too! They’re cute and more than a little special… and proof if ever you needed it that the little details really do add magic to your tables!

Civil ceremony party picks by Vintage Twee (1)

Lovely Jo Linder from Vintage Twee has launched new versions of her best selling wedding party picks: vintage and rainbow coloured party picks for civil weddings with ‘mr & mr’ or ‘mrs & mrs’ in a lovely vintage typewriter font. It feels like such a long time since England’s first same-sex marriages were making the news – so it’s wonderful to see them inspiring such a lovely new collection from one of my favourite wedding suppliers.

Love is a temporary madness….

Bridal inspiration shoot with mirrors and metallics images by Vickerstaff Photography (4)

Are you superstitious? You might want to look away now.Β  Today’s styled shoot is a crazy cacophony of metallics and mirrors, paper, calligraphy, design and destruction. It’s all about breaking the rules, breaking free and challenging expectations.

Weddings are full of rules and etiquette. From formal invitations to receiving lines, the legal limitations and family expectations, it can all get a bit much. Silver sixpence in your shoe? Why… in case you need to catch a bus?! Break a few rules, I dare you.

“Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.”

Hello lovely wedding blog readers, I hope you’re not working too hard today! I have the perfect feature to share with you this morning – something I was involved with a few weeks ago, where I had the pleasure of spending a day with wonderful people to create a really inspiring shoot. We created different bridal looks with our beautiful model Kelsey, and today I’m sharing the prettiest of them all, centred on a gorgeous pink peony bouquet by Kevin at Brackens of Bowness.

pink peonies bridal ideas (1) Kelsey shows just how easy it is to combine beautiful key pieces for a timeless and glamorous wedding style. She wears a dress by Sassi Holford, which came from the fabulous Julia Tasker Bridal Couture. The embroidered detail is so pretty, and goes beautifully with her elegant, smooth updo and natural make up. (Hair: Aqua Salon | Make up: Definitions)

Jamie is based in Cheshire and travels across the UK to photograph weddings… I hear he’s especially fond of the Lake District so if you’re getting married here do check him out!
