Jonathan and Jessica’s family is the most talented ever seen on a wedding blog. The details of their day are pretty amazing – and I eagerly read Jess’s questionnaire to see where they bought their fabulous stationery (her brother made it) and stunning cakes (Jonathan’s dad). Wow.

It’s been an amazing, exciting rollercoaster of a year here at English Wedding Blog towers, and I’ve been spending a little time looking back at some of my highlights – and yours! As I prepare to switch off my laptop and dive into the mulled wine I’m going to leave you with no fewer than 100 – one whole hundred – of my favourite real weddings from the last 12 months. They should give you plenty to read whenever you need an escape from the festivities over the next couple of weeks!

Hey everyone! How is your day going? It’s blustery here but there’s sunshine peeking through at last! I’m working hard on some Christmas and New Year features and I’d like to write a post about wedding trends for 2015… and I really need your help!

If you’re planning a 2015 wedding, I’d love to know your ideas for styling the day. Will boho still be a massive theme for next year? Garden weddings? Are you embracing nature with a rustic theme?

Wedding suppliers I’d love to share your predictions for 2015 as well. Do you have new collections for next year? If you’d care to share a comment about the trends and styles you think will be huge in 2015, then I’ll publish as many as I can on the English Wedding Blog – along with links to your websites (where relevant) too.

Hello there! Welcome once again to new wedding blog readers, congratulations and best of luck with your exciting wedding planning adventures! I know wedding blogs are all different, and sometimes it’s easy to miss features and ideas on your favourite blogs. I’ve done my best to make the English Wedding Blog really easy to use, and really relevant for you too – so you can search for weddings in your region, at the time of year you’re getting married, even at your own wedding venue or by your favourite photographer. Here’s how it works!

Real weddings by English county or UK region

In the top menu bar of the English Wedding Blog you can find real weddings either by wedding style (vintage, contemporary etc.) and find real weddings by county (listed in alphabetical order). If you’re a bride-to-be in Cornwall, for example, you can click on the Cornwall Weddings link to see weddings I’ve featured near you! (Here’s one I made earlier)

Hello! I owe this post to the lovely brides over on the You & Your Wedding forums – always a great source of inspiration for many UK wedding bloggers! I was reading a thread about how much it costs to rent wedding chairs which had me fascinated from beginning to end. The original poster asked “am I mad?” to be spending £200 on chair hire. Most replies were along the lines of “no, that seems reasonable” with one wonderfully insightful response of “in the real world £200 is a lot, but you’re in wedding land now“.

Wow.

It’s so true, of course – our usual rules and common sense can fly out of the window when it comes to wedding planning. How many of us would spend more than £1,000.00 on a dress for any other occasion? The most expensive dress I own is from French Connection and I bought it for a whopping £75! I’ve never spent more than £200 on chairs*… and I also expect to keep them! But it’s true – weddings are different.

Morning! I’m typing delicately this morning with a little plaster on my finger – I have an actual blogging injury from too much typing hehe!! But it won’t stop me bringing you today’s beautiful Northamptonshire wedding courtesy of another very beautiful bride, the lovely Kirsty and her gorgeous groom Matt. Their wedding at Pipewell Hall is full of ideas, lovingly crafted and as Kirsty herself will tell you, a dream wedding brought to life!

Rachel has written today’s guest article for you, and it’s brilliant. Follow her advice and you’ll be well on the way to saving both money and stress as you plan your big day together.

Sticking to your guns: The art of prioritising when planning your wedding.

Every couple planning a wedding (unless they happen to be extremely rich with little or no family) will have to make compromises. This is a fact. But don’t panic! Here is a simple guide to working out your priorities early and then sticking to them with a steely determination in the face of dream venues, pushy mother-in-laws and dwindling funds.

I couldn’t fit the word beautiful into the title of this blog post, but it should definitely be there: Linh and Tom’s wedding is absolutely Beautiful with a capital B! There are gorgeous details, light and summery themes and styling, and moments to make your heart melt.

From the illustrated stationery to the lovely little bubbles, through to the adorable little boy in a suit and then the magical first dance, the details of Linh and Tom’s wedding day are caught so beautifully by Peterborough wedding photographer Georgi Mabee.

Linh and Tom have written a great wedding report to share with you, so I’ll leave you to enjoy their story along with Georgi’s lovely pictures. This is fabulous – I hope you love it too.

Who proposed, and how?

Tom proposed at Gidleigh Park, a Tudor style country house hotel in Devon, situated on the banks of the North Teign River, surrounded by Dartmoor National Park. It was supposed to be a “birthday” surprise weekend away.

Morning everyone, hope you’re all feeling amazing on this soggy, chilly Tuesday morning in September! Me too 😉 and I’m writing a lazy little blog post this morning to celebrate.

I have [counting…] sixteen gorgeous real weddings ready to share with you this month already – they’re really fab and there’s loads of ideas and really stunning themes to share with you, it’s so exciting! – but I’m going to keep you waiting for just one more day before I share the first one.

In the meantime I thought I’d tease you with an eclectic little collection of some of the fabulous weddings I’ll be sharing with you in September. Which is your favourite?

(I’ll be back in action with a proper wedding blog post tomorrow I promise!)
