Today on English Wedding Blog, a pre-wedding shoot from Chester and a romantic engagement story all the way from Edinburgh – I was totally swept up in the romance of Jayne and Steve’s engagement… I think you will be too!

The first ‘official’ visitors to English Wedding Blog HQ arrived this weekend… my lovely sponsors, Cheshire wedding photographers and friends Tory and Jamie of Vickerstaff Photography had come further than most on a weekend escape, arriving in the best part of the Lake District – the quiet, charming and idyllic west coast. And they popped in for tea, totally making my weekend! They’re two of the nicest wedding photographers in the North West – and I believe English Wedding Blog HQ was met with approval, cats and all!

He took me for a surprise weekend away, we just got in the car and headed North, eventually arriving in Edinburgh which is where we stayed for the weekend at the Radisson hotel on the royal mile, in a suite!! Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities so when I saw where we were going and the hotel I cried.

Knowing a wedding venue inside out, loving its features and being passionate about photography is what makes a wedding photographer very special indeed. Today’s wedding blog is the perfect example. Following on from yesterday’s glamorous Manchester bridal shoot, today we’re focusing on the delicious photography and super chic setting of The Place Hotel in Manchester.

I’d introduce Vickerstaff Photography myself, but I did that yesterday. So I’m using a great blog comment from last week instead:

I recently met Jamie at one of our monthly North West Photographer’s jaunts. Such an affable guy. I told him that I like his work. Have done for about 2 years but this was the first time he met me. This post just re-affirms my belief. The attention to the details. To story telling. To the formal portraiture. The quality of the finishing on the images… all top notch.” Read more… by Anurag Sharma

engagement photograph… a fabulous prize, courtesy of my friend and sponsor Phil Drinkwater. Phil is very kindly offering a free engagement shoot worth £300 – and it’s available to everyone in England, Scotland & Wales.

You don’t need to buy anything for this and it’ll take about a minute of your time to like Phil’s page and post on his wall. Go to his facebook page now to find out what to do :)

No catches – just a free engagement shoot that someone has to win.

Good luck everyone!!!

I need you to do me a favour. I need you to scroll slowly through this wedding blog feature because I don’t want you to miss a thing. There’s something about Emma and Tom’s wedding that tugs at the old heartstrings… such emotion in the photos, it’s like every image is a really, really precious moment in time.

Maybe it’s just me feeling emotional. Maybe it’s the way I’ve just looked at the images. Maybe it’s incredibly sensitive and empathetic wedding photography from Phil Drinkwater. I’d love to know how this wedding blog post makes you feel!

wedding blog real weddings UK (7)Oh, and I also have to gloat (vaguely in the direction of Rock My Wedding blog) – because I got a wedding report from a groom. Charlotte featured a groom’s report a few weeks ago, and I was so jealous! When I saw that Tom had written his report of the wedding for me today, I was over the moon.

So with no further ado, I’ll hand over to Phil Drinkwater (images) and groom Tom (words) to share a very special wedding with you today. Enjoy!

It’s great to hear from wedding photographers across the UK, whether they’ve years of experience or are just starting out. Zenna from Zen Photographic got in touch a couple of weeks ago to share this lovely Cheshire wedding with me and I loved it – the strong colour theme, fun images and gorgeous bride and groom clinched the deal and I’m very pleased to be sharing a really special wedding on the blog today. I hope you enjoy it!

English wedding at Arley Hall Cheshire blogged (3)

Brad and Jo met in Ibiza and after a whirlwind romance Brad proposed on the very same spot where they fell in love – how romantic is that? Two years down the line and they celebrated their marriage at Arley Hall in Cheshire. With beautiful photography by Zen Photographic and Jo’s own words to tell their wedding story, I’m going to enjoy putting this blog feature together as much as I hope you’ll love reading it. Please share a comment at the end if you have a sec!
