Hello lovely! Did you spot the beautiful Cheshire countryside wedding I featured with tipis and a rustic theme last week? Tom and Rebecca’s day really caught my eye and I loved their alternative wedding table plan made from little pots of herbs on hay bales. (See the wedding here – images by lovely Jill Thorning-Jensen Photography.) I couldn’t resist seeing what else was out there for couples using herbs to style their wedding – and I hope you love these ideas as much as I do!

When it comes to weddings pink never goes out of fashion. Ever. Never ever. Shades of pink come and go… fuchsia isn’t as big as it used to be. Baby is back. Mismatching pink with a-little-bit-of-everything-else is big news. So today I’ve made up this little inspiration feature for you to share, Pin, get inspired by and just enjoy while you enjoy a cup of tea 🙂

Today’s English wedding blog is dedicated to Trudie. Hello there Trudie! A little while ago I asked for wedding jewellery designers to share their best sparkly creations over on the English Wedding Showcase. It works a little like the wedding magazines: I suggest a theme and ask designers to show off their wares, providing all of you wonderful couples with ideas for your wedding. This time we did jewellery.

Sweet as candy – wedding inspiration & ideas

  • Feature pieces like pink chandeliers or candelabras draped in pink beads make all the difference – either go for sophisticated pink, or splash out and play with it to great effect! You don’t need to go to town, just pick out key touches and go for quality over and above quantity
  • Ask the little girl inside you what goes with pink and she’ll tell you: sparkle, diamonds, crystals and glitter. So add a little twinkle here and there with clear beads, silver and shine

One thing: I absolutely can’t possibly let this one get away without making an inspiration board, I thought. Nicola and Chris created a wedding that was true to their personalities, full of creativity and character.

I’ve blogged their vintage wedding in Derbyshire over the last two days. I didn’t want the blog features to end! So I’ve even kept some of Nicola’s wedding report back for you today.

“In the table setting, each person had one of the 130 vintage cup and saucers that I had been collecting over the last year from car boot sales, flea markets and a good proportion from a little man on Portobello rd market!

I then dotted around the old jars and bottles, containing plain bunches of sweet peas and babysbreath.

The central flower decoration on each table was in a vintage jug and was made up of ‘meadow type’ flowers. Place settings were made up of bunches of dried lavender with luggage tags with names on.

Wedding inspiration – Pretty in Pink

Choose a focus for your wedding decorations – don’t spend a fortune on every detail, but choose something fabulous that will be a real talking point: in Suzy and Bruno’s case, the table centrepieces are statuesque and colourful with roses, feathers and foliage perched on glass pillars.

Keep your details elegant and simple: a wedding table plan focusing on word art is a great idea. Suzy and Bruno chose simple pink flowers for the four edges of their plan and an ornate black frame which I love.

An elegant white wedding cake with minimal detailing will create as much of a talking point as a richly decorated designer cake. Suzy and Bruno’s cake has bright pink ribbons and a fantastic jewel embellishment. The little cluster of roses on top of the cake adds charm to the cake table.

Did you see Tanya and Andy’s countryside wedding on the blog this week? I loved it so much I’ve turned the blog feature into a three-day event! We’ve heard about camping in the countryside before the wedding day, about tambourines in church and the band playing around the campfire, about games and cakes and lavender and campervans…

countryside wedding inspiration board - reportage wedding photographer Mark Carey…well, I had to make you an inspiration board from some of the wedding photographs – all of the lovely images above are by reportage wedding photographer Mark Carey. The details and ideas to take away for your own wedding are:

  • use brightly coloured flowers dotted across your wedding tables to create a summery, cheerful wedding reception. Try sunflowers, poppies, gerberas and agapanthus – or anything you can find in your mum’s / grandma’s / aunty’s garden!
  • Bunting brightens up the roof of a wedding marquee and adds colour. Make bunting with fabric or paper – there are tutorials online to help you including a lovely easy one on Love My Dress blog by Lou from Whimsical Wonderland Weddings: http://www.lovemydress.net/blog/2011/05/diy-bride-tutorial-the-mini-flag-fabric-garland.html

Yesterday I featured Emma and Tom’s wedding on the blog, a sophisticated and beautiful wedding at Cheshire’s luxurious Arley Hall. Behind the scenes I was hoarding some of the lovely detail photos – wedding photographer Phil Drinkwater sent me so many I was absolutely spoilt for choice.

Cue a wedding inspiration board for any brides and grooms out there who are planning an elegant, light and summery gold theme for their day.

Wedding inspiration: summer golds

Emma and Tom kept their summer wedding theme really light and elegant, which I love. Sometimes gold can be quite a heavy theme, and with stately homes like Arley Hall where there might be heavy gilded picture frames, gold chairs and dark decor it’s a nice trick to keep things bright and summery. Emma and Tom did it perfectly.

Please do indulge my wedding inspiration board phase… I absolutely love doing these right now! Perhaps it’s because I’m being sent so many brilliant photos at the moment. Wedding photographers are such a generous and creative bunch of people 🙂

So – this is part 3 of Claudia and John’s wedding in Devon, on the English Wedding blog. They combined their Australian heritage with a vintage inspired, English country garden theme and created something really special. Here’s how you can recreate that look for your own wedding day!

How to recreate this country garden wedding look

For your wedding flowers use a mix of colours. Imagine a meadow of wildflowers: there’s a glorious mixture of colours in there, right? So use pink and blue, white and yellow and include your favourites if you can: daisies and sweet peas look gorgeous, cornflowers are striking and big rose blooms make a beautiful statement.

Hands up who loves Parma Violets?! I do. And I do even more now I’ve seen Jayne and Phil’s parma violet inspired wedding reception at the Lowry, Manchester. With all photos by Chris Hanley Photography, take a peek at this fab wedding inspiration board – it’s purple-tastic.

Jayne and Phil’s wedding was at The Lowry in Manchester, a modern theatre with creative interiors in every colour you can imagine. The wedding reception room however is a blank canvas, so Jayne and Phil chose shades of purple to make it look amazing for their wedding day.

Jayne’s purple wedding bouquet was a cluster of pale violet freesias and darker purple hydrangeas. If you’re having a violet or purple wedding theme check with your florist which flowers will be in season. Purple roses are popular all year round; freesias spring-summer and hydrangeas throughout the summer period.

Chairs were covered in white and tied with a purple sash in organza fabric.

There were so many beautiful photos from Prema and Andy’s wedding earlier this week, I had to keep a few to share as a special feature all of their own!

If you’re thinking about a very English wedding theme and need ideas to help you get the look, this will help! All photos are by Victoria Phipps Photography.

English country wedding theme

This inspiration board was put together by Victoria Phipps. All details are from Prema and Andy's wedding day.

Choose roses in various shades of pink and cream for an effect that isn’t contrived and looks really natural.

Use scrapbooking papers in various shades to create your table name cards in a country-chic style.

Find details like rose-decorated signs, wedding post boxes and gingham to further decorate your day to create a relaxed English wedding day theme.
