The details from Daniella and Scott’s Saddleworth Hotel wedding are just divine. As wedding coordinators they knew their venue inside out, and chose a sparkly winter wedding theme to make the most of the spectacular venue. Daniella’s dress is stunning – a Manuel Mota design with intricate beading.

Winter wedding styling can be very traditional, and it’s tricky sometimes to find ideas online for winter wedding decor with a bit of a difference. Red roses anyone? Maybe it’s just me… but I get a bit bored of red roses in winter. If you fancy something a little different to brighten up and warm your wedding styling when there’s snow outside, today’s gloriously rich shoot will be right up your street.

An aisle of sparklers – what a fantastic idea! Today’s wedding blog is another very festive celebration with wonderful creative touches. From the choice in wedding music to the little note about weirdness and love (watch out for the photo!) I absolutely love David & Carol’s wedding!

Sussex wedding blog James Grist (1)

Having read this very gorgeous couple’s wedding report already, I’m smiling at mentions of walking back down the aisle twice (when the CD kicked in late!) and imagining that amazing aisle of sparklers – but what sticks in my mind is this: (from one of the many lovely images by James Grist Photography)

“We are all a little weird, and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours we join up with them, and fall in mutual weirdness, and call it LOVE!”

How fab is that?! Over to the gorgeous bride and groom with their wedding report (which starts about halfway down the page) and with thanks to James Grist for submitting this wonderful wedding blog today. Enjoy! Claire xxx

Wedding by Natasha Thompson Photography (29)
A long awaited proposal and a secret, intimate wedding are hiding in my little box of tricks for you today my lovely readers. Debbie and Matthew, and their little boy Noah, celebrated their surprise wedding in superb style – although they tell me the decor was “a bit of a mis-match”!

Their wedding photographer Natasha Thompson submitted this wedding for the blog many weeks ago, and Matthew and Debbie (I think mainly Matthew) sent their wedding report back to me this week, along with the sweetest note: “Sorry this has taken so long, we have just had a baby!” So first of all let me say a huge Congratulations to you both, and I’ll hand over to you and to Natasha with her beautiful photographs of your intimate wedding.

Who proposed, and how?

Matthew did, after a long time, many years, by hiding a ring in a new children’s toy for our son, Noah, who was three at the time. It was a ‘Happyland’ Church wedding set from the Early learning Centre.

It’s a bit spooky: the second wedding in as many weeks I’ve seen from The Ashes – a wedding venue I hadn’t heard of before. But it’s gorgeous: as we sink into autumn this wedding has all the loveliest, richest autumn colours and tones – like a virtual hot toddy in the world of wedding blogs.

The wedding day begins with this beautifully cold countryside scene – this is The Ashes wedding venue in the heart of Staffordshire, a grade two listed family home with converted barns providing the perfect secluded setting for a private wedding reception.

This wedding was submitted by Vickerstaff Photography in Cheshire. Jamie and Tory Vickerstaff are experienced wedding photographers – and I love that their wedding photography blog shows as much excitement, passion and enjoyment of every wedding they photograph, after more than 200 weddings!

Jamie Vickerstaff writes up a great blog post with every wedding feature over at www.vickerstaffphotography.co.uk/blog so I can tell you that Rachel and the girls had a lovely little cottage as part of The Ashes wedding venue complex where all the bridal preparations took place.

I LOVE this photograph - Lucy looks regal and out-of-this-world beautiful

Sometimes everything in life comes together and a lightbulb flickers on, don’t you think? It’s happened for me – gradually – over the past month or so. I won’t bore you with details (well, I might, but in a later post) – suffice it to say that Creativity is my newest raison d’être.

I love how weddings provide everyone with an opportunity to be creative, and that those who do have their own very individual ways of realising their creativity. Lucy and James’s wedding is a beautiful, quite normal English wedding with a little twist of creativity which makes it ever so special.

There are two things I love about this wedding, and I hope you will too. The creative touches which sang out to me (you’ll get that in a minute) are Lucy’s beautiful fluffy white shrug – an accessory with a dash of originality which makes her look ice-queen-esque – and her performance.

I can’t resist a snowy wedding scene, and Claire’s purple dress is a gorgeously creative touch – so here’s a very quick blog post to show you the latest from Cumbria wedding photographer Chris Freer’s own blog.

Claire and Andrew's winter weddingI love the blanket of snow and the open landscape with the mountains behind – and Claire’s purple dress is fantastic for a winter wedding with a white backdrop! Doesn’t she look incredible.

Claire and Andrew's winter weddingFrom time to time I’ll be posting just a couple of pictures of a wedding day with creative touches I love – in this case, Claire’s dress and the snowy scenes. These posts will be filed under a new category: Wedding digest.

See more of Andrew and Claire’s wedding on the Freer Images wedding photography blog.
