Last Sunday evening was pretty special here at the English Wedding Blog – I asked for help to build up my lists of weddings by UK county and region, and the response from wedding photographers was fantastic. Today’s real wedding on the blog is all the way from North Wales – Hayley and Mark had their reception at Northop Hall, and their wedding photographer Darren Williams has kindly allowed me to share their day with you all.

North Wales wedding blog by Darren Williams Photography (10)This is a beautiful wedding which I hope will inspire you. Hayley and Mark used soft yellows as an accent colour for their day, and carried the yellow theme through from the bridal bouquet and buttonholes to their orders of service and on-the-day stationery. I think yellow is a wonderful colour for a September wedding, don’t you? Enjoy!

Hello everyone! Did you have an amazing weekend? I hope so 🙂 I’ve been mountaineering… we managed to find a nice little mountain to conquer so it’s nice to sit down and rest my legs today! I’m sharing a lovely vintage wedding blog today – Kate and Mike were married near Anglesey and had a traditional, vintage-inspired day with their friends and family.

This gorgeous couple didn’t entirely follow tradition: they had no wedding readings and chose not to spend a night apart before the wedding – which seems an outdated tradition to me anyway! Kate wore a stunning lace wedding dress and the venue decoration was kept simple and elegant with pastel pinks and lace.

Thank you to my friend and north Wales wedding photographer Martin Lyons for the lovely images, and huge congratulations to Kate and Mike! They’ve shared their wedding report and advice for you all at the end of today’s wedding blog. Enjoy! Claire x

wedding photography by Chris Hanley (13)Katie’s wedding report captures the romance of her wedding to Chris in December. She told me about being whisked off with her new husband for some special wedding photos: “It felt so romantic – as if we were in a love scene from a movie”!

I just can’t decide if the movie I’m seeing in these beautiful wedding photos is James Bond, Narnia or a vintage Hollywood treasure… perhaps a magical balance of all three. Regardless: the screenplay is magnificent, the stars are every director’s dream – and the story a timeless romance to play on your heartstrings.wedding photography by Chris Hanley (1)The very beautiful Katie and Chris were married at Margam Park Orangery – a wedding venue with a rich history and one of the most prestigious in Wales. The architecture is a deliciously extravagant backdrop for outstanding wedding photography – a backdrop Katie and Chris look born to enjoy.

There are details in this most incredible winter wedding which will inspire you: crystals glisten and snowflakes sparkle; Katie’s delectable vintage bouquet of brooches and crystals, flowers and twinkling accessories is simply out of this world – and she made it herself!

wedding blog photo (35)There’s nothing like a real love story to brighten up a cold morning… and Alice and Jamie’s story is a lovely one. Both living in London now, they went back to their childhood home of Wales to get married last year. Alice has written her own story of the wedding day which is as enchanting as the images of the wedding. And she looks so incredibly beautiful in lace and pearls…

All the photographs are by Cambridge wedding photographer Jean-Luc Benazet. I have something very special to tell you about Jean-Luc at the end of this wedding blog, but for now I’ll leave you to read Alice and Jamie’s wedding story.

Enjoy!

Did you see yesterday’s blog post? The first part of English Wedding’s little (virtual!) roadtrip to Wales for Emma and Lee’s Cardiff Castle wedding had a VW campervan, gorgeous fishtail wedding dress, ducklings and the most dramatic setting for the ceremony I’ve seen in ages.

Part two, of course… well in part two it gets better and better! I previewed one picture on the English Wedding facebook page earlier this month (sometimes I just can’t wait!), it’s so clever! Aga’s wedding photography is so exciting, and the interior of Cardiff Castle is incredible!

Claire: stop wittering. Everybody else: enjoy….

Then in the evening we had a Twmpath (Welsh ceilidh). Cardiff Catering provided a Welsh themed wedding breakfast – Starter – Welsh Rarebit, main- Honey Roast Lamb, Dessert – Weelshcake cheesecake”

A real wedding for you today girls and guys, and one which follows from the playful week of weddings we had last week!

This is Richard and Laura’s wedding day in Wales – the venue is Plas Hafod, the atmosphere is chilled out countryside and I love the little details of the day.

Plas Hafod wedding photography North Wales (1)Marie Lloyd Photography sent the photographs in to be featured on English Wedding. Husband and wife wedding photographers from Wales, Marie and Jason work together shooting weddings across the country.

Jason wrote about this wedding day, “We photographed a great wedding on the royal wedding day: the bride and groom had a 1912 vintage bus, a handmade dress, vintage sewing machine and loads of handmade details.”

Jason explained how some of the quirkier shots came about: “Richard and Laura are a super cute couple, really touchy feely and expressive and we went for some less typical, more creative shots with them. I know that’s a little cryptic, but they loved our work and wanted to do something a little different, so we did :o)

vintage inspired welsh wedding by Joseph Yarrow photographer (1)Ben and Amy. Smiles, giggles and hugs in a room full of happy family and friends. A wedding day in a Grade II listed hotel on the Southern coast of Wales. Hurst House is an elegant, stylish hotel full of traditional decor, with 17 rooms for wedding guests and you’ll get a real sense of the atmosphere of the place from Joseph Yarrow‘s photographs from the day.

vintage inspired welsh wedding by Joseph Yarrow photographer (2)Joseph is a photographer I always admire. His images are the perfect combination of artistry and documentary style, with detail photos that draw you inside… I love the first images, approaching Hurst House – it’s like you’re there.

Amy’s dad is a big part of the wedding day, and of course groom Ben – aptly described (along with Amy) by Joseph as “insanely good looking”!

Welsh wedding by photographer Fiona Campbell (25)This wedding appeals to my love of nature and the countryside – there’s such a lovely relaxed feel to all the images, and when I first saw the wedding slideshow by photographer Fiona Campbell the farm animals were a wonderful surprise!

Stephane and Bianca were married in the Brecon Beacons, at Gliffaes Country House Hotel. Fiona told me, “It had an absolutely sublime atmosphere and the staff were so helpful and friendly”.

Welsh wedding by photographer Fiona Campbell (14)“It was a very special wedding because Stephane and Bianca rented out a hotel in the sublime Brecon Beacons so that all their friends could be together for a long weekend. They filled the country house hotel with flowers and little bowls of chocolates to make the guests feel at home.

Portmeirion is enchanting: a Welsh village, built to resemble an Italian one, with colourful little houses and too cute for words! So I couldn’t resist Simon and Rachael’s wedding – I think you’ll love it. It fits perfectly with the surroundings: quirky and lots of fun.

Rachael wore a gorgeous little vintage inspired wedding dress, very Audrey Hepburn I think! With a birdcage veil and the cutest shoes to go with it. And Simon is a super cool groom (I want his glasses!).

Their wedding photographer is Martin Lyons, who told me, “This wedding was very much an intimate affair with only 24 guests & the bride and groom.”

Martin said, “In some ways this wedding was very different to others, the ceremony was very intimate which was lovely! Fortunately we managed to escape a monster downpour which came just before the groups, I then spent 45 mins with the bride & groom before the meal. There were no speeches (1st time ever). That’s what I love about weddings they are all so different! All together it was a fun, intimate, relaxed day.”
