I’ve been busy recommending photographers I love to my friends who are getting married this summer – and everywhere I see couples are booking wedding photographers even for their weddings in 2017… I guess it’s that time of year. Which is perfect, because I like to think of myself as a matchmaker: I see a LOT of wedding photography and I want to help you hook up with amazing photographers for your wedding. Which brings me to lovely Liam Smith Photography

Liam Smith Photography

Liam Smith Photography has been on my radar since the early days of the English Wedding Blog. Liam combines fine art photography with a beautiful narrative, capturing your day in a sensitive and unique style. I think he’s pretty awesome. I’m delighted to say Liam has rejoined the English Wedding Blog as our latest sponsor and will be sharing plenty of gorgeous real weddings as well as expert advice with all of us over the next few months. Liam – welcome.

One of the best things about being a wedding blogger is being able to introduce you to wedding suppliers. I’ve been chatting to lovely Heni Fourie, a wedding photographer from Buckinghamshire, LOTS over the last few weeks and I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Heni as the latest addition to my wonderful little gang of English Wedding Blog sponsors.

Heni Fourie Photography is based in High Wycombe, Bucks. Heni work with natural light, producing images that highlight the beauty of your wedding day. His style mixes formal wedding photographs with candid shots (reportage photography), creating a record of the big and small moments that make a wedding so special.

Heni told me, “I fell in love with photography at an early age and my fascination with wedding photography started when I first saw the black and white wedding photos of my parents’ happy day. I tried to put together the day in my mind from the photos I had in front of me, and today I use my photography to create a story of the day for each of my happy couples. I love what I do and it gives me great pleasure to know that what I produce will be treasured for a lifetime.”

Wedding photographer Suzy Mitchell first featured here on the English Wedding Blog with a styled ‘vintage military wedding‘ shoot – which tugged at my heartstrings, being inspired by a real life story. I’m delighted to be able to introduce you to Suzy as an English Wedding Blog sponsor today. She’s passionate about her photography – and it shows. Suzy’s images are timeless and beautiful: she captures those unexpected and magical moments as well as she photographs wonderfully artistic portraits… and I love her work.

Suzy told me, “I was trying to think of the one thing I most wanted to say to a couple considering booking me, as their photographer and it was simple really, just that I want it to be fun!! To get to know you as a couple, understand what you are looking for and for you to really enjoy the experience of working with me!

Good morning everyone! I hope you’re having the loveliest of weeks so far. We’ve all been a little spoilt with some fabulous real weddings and inspiration shoots on the English Wedding Blog this week so I wanted to take time this morning to introduce you to someone I think you’ll love. You will probably recognise some faces!

Andy Stonier is the photographer at Howling Basset wedding photography, based in Kent. After featuring two of his real weddings on the English Wedding Blog, I’m delighted to say that Andy has joined my little team of awesome sponsors and we’ll be seeing more beautiful weddings over the summer!

Let’s explain the name first of all, shall we? Howling Basset is named for Andy’s two adorable basset hounds, who feature in his business logo! Andy started Howling Basset back in 2004 and in 10 years has become one of Kent’s leading wedding photographers, shooting nearly 700 weddings. This level of wedding experience means he’s calm, professional and unobtrusive, helping him to best capture the full story on your biggest day.

A few weeks ago I featured a beautifully elegant Surrey wedding on the blog – James and Katherine’s big day was simply wonderful and full of ideas.

Karen Flower

You loved it too, and wedding photographer Karen Flower was a big hit! When Karen emailed me a week or two later to say she’d already had enquiries because of the Botley’s Mansion wedding feature I was delighted – and I’m even more pleased today because Karen has joined the English Wedding Blog team of sponsors.

You can read all about Karen on her dedicated page on the English Wedding Blog: Surrey wedding photographer Karen Flower, and there are some divine images on the page to show you a kind of cross section of her photography style. (She’s chosen gorgeous photos – beautiful lighting, love, laughter and happy tears – do have a look!)

Part 2: How to prepare yourselves for the photography on your wedding day

Congratulations if you have now chosen your wedding photographer! (Otherwise, have you read part 1 in this series of articles? In part 1 I’m giving advice on how to find and choose your photographer)

Once you have chosen your photographer, the planning stage starts. Don’t worry, most of the planning will be done by your photographer – You have plenty of other things to sort out as well! But in my experience, a good level of communication with your photographer before your wedding day is the best recipe for some fantastic wedding photography. Photography is very much about personal taste, so if the photographer has a good understanding of what you like and what is important to you, then they will know what to focus on during your wedding day. To be acquainted in advance will also help you feel relaxed with being photographed. So here follows some advice on how you can work together to get the best shots possible when the day comes!
