Hello there everyone! Oh my, I can’t believe how quickly this week is flying by! I’m trying so hard not to count the days until Christmas… yikes!! I’m looking for lots of real weddings and ideas to feature over the festive period so please do get in touch if you have anything you’d like me to share on the English Wedding Blog. For today though, I have some gorgeous wedding invitations to show you.

I was so pleased when lovely Joanne from Vintage Twee got in touch with me to ask for a little calligraphy on her wedding invitations for Lance and Lisa. I’ve always loved Jo’s work – she sells on Etsy and from her online boutique at VintageTwee.com. I’m the proud owner of a few of her wonderful creations myself! I keep my calligraphy nibs in Jo’s exquisitely crafted wedding favour boxes – they’re adorable!

Hello again! I hope you’re having a wonderful week and enjoying all the lovely real weddings I’ve been sharing with you on the blog recently. There are more to come, but I just had to focus on something a little different today: these stunning art deco luxury wedding invitations my my friend and sponsor Wendy at WBD Designer Wedding Stationery.

Wendy Bell is a (very lovely!) London based wedding stationery designer who provides a truly personal service, creating striking and unique luxury wedding invitations and stationery which encapsulate her clients’ personal tastes. Her natural eye for design, and her dedication to creating the perfect invitation, mean these art deco invites are some of the most striking you’ll see.

It’s officially a royal residence, and is managed by English Heritage. Inside, the decor is art deco at its very best. The venue has been described as a “masterpiece of modern design” (source – Wikipedia)… and these stunningly beautiful art deco wedding invitations have been perfectly designed to set the scene for a wedding there.

Founder and creative director of Oysterfox, Jen, introduces the new concept of ‘BeLuxe’. BeLuxe fuses bespoke service with luxury design. All aspects of the creative process are tailor-made. Everything from the weight of the hand-finished textured paper, to the shade of engraved foil on the envelope, can be chosen by the bride to create something truly BeLuxe.

Jennifer’s background from Art College, through a Fashion Journalism Degree, onto the beauty desks and fashion shoots of magazines including Vogue, Grazia and InStyle, means she has an eye for luxury fashion details, backed up with the technical skill to make any theme come to life when creating fabulous one of a kind stationery.

Have you bought your wedding invitations yet? I’m very proud to have some of the UK’s top wedding stationery brands as a part of my little team here on the English Wedding Blog and it means I can share new designs and latest collections with you, often even before they appear in the national wedding magazines! Let’s start with a little timeless romance… over to Lisa from Olivia Samuel to introduce a brand new invitation design. I hope you like it! Claire x

Timeless Romance Wedding Invitation

A fairytale wedding theme is probably the most romantic theme you can have, and let’s be honest, if you can’t be romantic on your wedding day, then when can you?  We wanted to create a stationery range that would be timeless, romantic and capture that notion of a fairytale, without being too sugary sweet.

I was browsing wedding invitations online last week and saw these gorgeous birdcage invites to share with you – I think you’ll love them! They’re from Tickled Pink in Leicester.

Tickled Pink Designer Nikki told me a little about them – to find out more visit the link at the end of the blog post.

“We endeavour to create fun, quirky designs and this is our new tri-fold invite, with plenty of space for wedding info, directions, menus, whatever’s needed plus a detachable RSVP and little card for useful on-the-day panic details!”

I just love all the detail in this design – from the cute little bird and cage to the invitation format and styling. It’s fab! The colours are lovely too – it’s a great summer wedding invite, isn’t it?!

Olivia Samuel was founded in 2001 by Lisa and Matt Price, who have been producing timeless and elegant wedding stationery from their workshop in Southampton ever since.

All of Olivia Samuel’s quality wedding stationery is also available as a DIY option. This way customers who are budget conscious or who simply want to have some creative input into their stationery can do so. It’s a safe way to make your own wedding stationery with the reassurance that you won’t be compromising on quality.

Hello again! This afternoon we’re talking wedding invitations – and I’m sharing a little luxury with you. Incidentally, I was chatting to a reporter from a regional magazine yesterday, who asked for my thoughts on luxury stationery and the rising cost of weddings. My reply to this question is always the same: couples should prioritise, cutting out less important things (cakes, for example) and spending on quality services which are important to you. If you’re a paper lover like me, bespoke wedding invitations are a beautiful wedding essential! Here’s my lovely friend and blog sponsor Wendy Bell to tell you more! Claire xxx

Can I start with a cheeky question today? I’d like all of you who are closet stationery geeks and paper lovers to give a wry smile in the direction of your computer screen… Ah yes! It’s not just me. There’s something rather special about stationery, isn’t there?! Now – would anyone who’s ever spent more than half an hour looking at free fonts online, raise your hand? …yeah – me too. Because those fonts websites are addictive once you get started, aren’t they?! And when you begin looking at wedding fonts, they get even better! While you’re still smiling, quickly grab a cuppa then read today’s guest blog post from the very lovely Nathan – he’s the design genius at Artemis Stationery and has some excellent wedding fonts advice to share with you! Enjoy!

He’s already part of the team here and I’m delighted to welcome Nathan and Artemis Stationery as a new sponsor of English Wedding Blog today.

A quick blog post for this afternoon, which has been written by my inner geek / boy / child. I am intrigued by these pop-up church wedding invitations which look all cute and innocent on the front, but which when opened up present the gleeful recipient with a whole church in 3D.

Yes, they’re from Australia. My childish curiosity and delight in the designs convinced me to make an exception for this little blog feature. I did check they’re available for UK couples as well – details are below if you’d like to make an enquiry. They’ll definitely be different, and it’s unlikely anyone you know will be having the same invitations!

It has to be said also that there are many exciting, innovative and creative UK wedding invitation designers for you to discover as well. 😉 I just couldn’t let these beauts slip by without showing you!

When I launched my wedding business I was a regular on the Hitched wedding forums and loved it – so with tons of respect for Hitched in my back pocket, I was delighted when my friend and sponsor Wendy Bell emailed to let me know she’d been shortlisted for a Hitched Breakthrough award.

Congratulations, Wendy!

This blog post is to congratulate Wendy on being shortlisted. She’s a wonderful lady, a talent and thoroughly deserves a win in her category! Wendy – huge congratulations from me!!! You are a star in the making. 🙂

The Hitched Breakthrough Awards

The Hitched Breakthrough Awards was created to celebrate new creative talent in the wedding industry.

I’ve openly criticised some of the bigger wedding industry award processes in the past – when Moss Bros and John Lewis take home all the prizes, where’s the creativity in our industry, where’s the passion?

I love sharing good news! Today it’s a quickie, to let you know we have a winner for English Wedding Blog’s Paper Themes competition. A few weeks ago I launched a competition with the guys at Paper Themes, to win £150 of wedding invitations from their collection.

Congratulations to Alex from Bristol!

The lucky winner was Alex from Bristol. Alex’s wedding theme is white, silver and black, and I have it on very good authority from the competition organisers that she’s chuffed to bits to have won!

Thanks to everyone who entered the competition. I hope you find gorgeous wedding invitations, whether from Paper Themes or elsewhere. Have another look at the collection from Paper Themes or see wedding invitations from English Wedding Blog sponsors here: http://english-wedding-showcase.com/wedding-invitations-and-stationery/

And if you’re a wedding supplier with a competition up your sleeves, give me a shout! I love it when people win things on English Wedding – makes us all happy 🙂
