I have a bit of a ‘thing’ about wedding gift lists – so when a creative, thoughtful and brilliantly affordable idea comes along, I get excited.

Foodies especially will love this idea, but it’s equally perfect for those of you who aren’t blessed in the kitchen department (and we’re not talking toasters!) – basically all of your friends and family contribute their favourite recipe, and they’re all bound up into a lovely quality book for you to keep forever.

I wish I could have one of these… I’ve kept a few of my Grandma’s recipes but they’re floating around on sheets of paper I lose all the time… also, I have some friends who I imagine are secret foodies, genius bakers and health junkies, all of whom I’d love to have a recipe from! Other friends, I suspect, would sneak in a joke recipe or two – which would crack me up. A perfect, genius, all-round idea.

Owner Lauren got in touch to tell me how she started out selling a unique range of custom made and bespoke gifts and products. She’s exhibited at wedding fairs over recent months and is really enjoying creating new product ideas for weddings.

There are a few photos of items available from The Cross-Eyed Fox here for you to browse, but do go and take a look through the website: www.thecrosseyedfox.com

Marketing emails make me giggle. I can’t help it. Lavazza’s creative use of puns and idealism is guaranteed to make their coffee machine the number one item on your wedding gift list… forget the honeymoon fund, apparently a coffee machine (?) is the perfect wedding present!

Ah! His and hers coffee machines, in “wedding white” and black, sit side by side. The scene is set with cupcakes, a bouquet of flowers, and a coffee cup with a heart on top. Oh, and it says LOVE in big letters. Who’s sold?!

An “espressive” gift in “wedding white”. Nice!

They begin with a fabulous play on words: For a more ‘espressive’ wedding gift this season look no further than Italy’s favourite coffee Lavazza, who’s stylish A Modo Mio Extra coffee machines in wedding white or cool black make the perfect hand in marriage.

“Espressive”! Love it. And yes, it’s not just white, but wedding white. (Wonder if it’s more expensive than normal white?)

When Oxfam Unwrapped first got in touch with me with a press release I wrote back – along the lines of “love what you do, let’s give it a bit more ooomph”.

I’ll be upfront about my feelings on gift lists: I don’t like the idea of giving money, even if it’s for something specific (honeymoon, new home) – considering the vast amounts we can afford to spend on weddings in the UK. I’m right behind charities like Oxfam Unwrapped – and if you’re having (or considering) a charity gift list then I LOVE YOU.

Here’s a guest blog post from Oxfam Unwrapped.

Endless love: the wedding gifts that keep on giving…

Opting for charitable giving instead of traditional wedding gifts is the perfect way to share the romance and make a lasting difference on your big day.

It’s a trend that’s becoming increasingly popular, with even Royal newlyweds, Kate and William, asking individuals to celebrate their wedding day by giving to their favourite charities. The reason behind this is understandable: more and more couples are living together before getting married and certainly aren’t short of the usual home appliances.
