Hello my lovely! I hope you’re smiling this morning – it’s going to be a beautiful day 🙂 Shall we start with a look at Jenny Packham’s bridal collection for Spring 2015? Jenny’s collections always seem to capture the timeless elegance so many brides look for – and the dresses she’s designed for 2015 are no exception.

Jenny Packham bridal collection 2015

The Jenny Packham 2015 bridal collection was inspired by a series of creative portrait photographs taken in the 1930s. The photographer Yevonde Middleton, or ‘Madame Yevonde’ was a pioneer of her time, creating beautifully styled images of society ladies in the costumes of legendary heroines which you can see here.

The series of images which inspired Jenny Packham‘s 2015 bridal collection are known as ‘The Goddesses’. Yevonde’s images were exhibited at the PM Gallery in London in the summer of 2o11, and her stylised images of mythological heroines – Helen of Troy, Persephone, Venus – captured an ancient world of antiquity, within a modern and hauntingly beautiful treatment. The colours used; soft, tonal, always romantic, and the feminine way she played with light and colour to create a hazy, neoclassical ambiance, directly influenced the design and palette of this season’s collection.

Has anyone else seen Grimm? The last week of my life has been spent working 16 hour days with an hour of dark fairytales from Amazon Prime before bed – I love it! I’ve also been reading a collection of Irish myths and legends picked up at the Leprechaun Museum in Dublin (highly recommended!) so what could be better to share with all of you than a bridal collection introduced with a proper fairy story – the kind I love! This is from Legend Bridal – I love it and I hope you do too! Gorgeous gowns, creative designs and something really different and beautifully alternative to set hearts racing…

A few days ago I spent a lovely hour or so with Julia Tasker at her enchanting bridal boutique and I wish I could have taken you all with me! Julia’s little world – sorry, bridal shop! – is a treat, and nestled in the sleepily beautiful town of Bowness-on-Windermere. She’s only a few minutes’ walk from the lake shore which I think qualifies this gem of a bridal boutique as a day out in itself!

Rails of the most gorgeous designer wedding dresses in the heart of the Lake District

I was there to discuss some secret plans with Julia, to see the gorgeous designer wedding dresses she stocks and to discover the story behind Julia Tasker Bridal Couture. It was such a lovely experience – it’s great to know some of my favourite designers are right here in the Lake District: Sassi Holford, Ritva Westenius and Caroline Castigliano take centre stage alongside Paloma Blanca and Pepe Botella.

I recently saw a wonderful real wedding on the Love My Dress blog where the bride and groom created a beautifully styled literary themed wedding on a low budget. Beautiful bride Vicky wore a dress by Phase Eight, the London and online wedding boutique famous for its affordable prices and trendy, contemporary wedding dress designs. I’m delighted to be able to share the Phase Eight 2014 wedding dress collection lookbook here on the English Wedding Blog with you today.

The Phase Eight 2014 wedding dress collection was inspired by glamorous Hollywood looks of the 1930’s and 1950’s with embellishments taken from exquisite vintage embroidery and beadings. Phase Eight’s bridal designer describes the collection as one of ultimate femininity, with a glamorous and whimsically beautiful vintage feel.

Each bridal gown, accessory and bridesmaid dress has been created to ensure that you can customise and personalise your look with beaded belts, lace edged veils, coloured sashes to link in with your bridesmaids and capes in feathers and beading to give glamorous coverage.

Maria Senvo wedding dresses (1) When a brand new bridal designer sets up shop it’s always exciting to see fresh and individual wedding dresses. Making a splash in the wedding industry with sneak peeks on Love My Dress, in Vogue and a host of wedding magazines is  Maria Senvo  and I’m about to share images from the not-even-launched-yet Fifteen collection by Maria this morning.

The Fifteen collection has been designed with you in mind: it’s for twenty-something brides who are looking for something a little different – a pared down style with glamour and elegance. Designer bridal house Maria Senvo is sure to stand out from the crowd with these exquisitely designed wedding dresses. Intricate beaded bodies, elongated lines and pleats adorn the collection of stunning gowns that when turned around reveal scoop detail backs and razor sharp features – simply beautiful.

“If you’re a cool girl and your am to pm wardrobe is simple, pared down and effortless, what do you then wear to get married in?” say the design team behind new bridal brand Maria Senvo.

Sassi Holford works with absolute attention to detail and an uncompromising eye for quality, and each season her collections are individual yet balanced, focused yet inspiring.

The one thing every bride and couple tell me about their wedding planning is that they want their day to be unique. Everyone looks for those special touches which their guests won’t have seen before, to make their wedding memorable. For some of us, this means gorgeous paper details, handcrafted accessories or wedding favours. For others it’s avoiding the usual bridal boutiques and searching further afield for a unique wedding dress.

I’ve always loved the French attitude to fashion, I adore seeing how creative French designers can be, always launching collections which challenge our preconceptions and get us talking! French bridal fashion is of course no different, and Lanvin Blanche 2014 is simply beautiful. For any English brides out there looking to wear a statement dress, hop over to Paris or buy online at www.Lanvin.com
