This week’s Wedding Planning or Work is dedicated to my new friend Scarlet Blue. Last Friday I skived off WPOW entirely, as I was up to my neck in calligraphy… only to find an email on Saturday from Scarlet (which she’d sent on Friday) saying how much she enjoyed my weekly blog roundups… Oops!

Today I’m not skiving off – I’ve made you a bumper edition of Wedding Planning or Work to enjoy. Happy Friday everyone!

I’ve found some brilliant bits of internet for you this week: real weddings, DIY projects, discussions and – a new bit of Wedding planning or work: wedding business stuff. I’m just going to jump in. Highlights today include Alex Beadon’s business blogging advice, and discussions on beauty from Anna (Far from the wedding crowd).

Enjoy. And have a wonderful weekend xx

Pre-wedding season, I was peering through the tumbleweed at various wedding photography websites and genuinely surprised by a) the numbers of wedding photographers out there, and b) the lack of blogs!

A quick look at this as a little aside: I searched for ‘wedding photographers’ and got a map with chicken pox. There are so, so many photographers out there! (Even more if you zoom in). I knew that though…

wedding photographers - a rash across the UK?

I was on a bit of a mission to discover new wedding photographers – ones who hadn’t submitted to my blog before, so I could raise awareness of English Wedding blog. And I was looking for their real wedding features to get an idea of what they do.

Four out of five didn’t have blogs.

And I was surprised – in this day and age, surely a wedding business blog is as important for SEO and promotion as facebook, more important than twitter, on a par with having a presence at wedding shows and fairs?

What happened to the rest of this week? I don’t imagine I’m the only wedding supplier who could use two more days before the weekend… so today I’m photographing, packing and posting a nice little handful of calligraphy orders for my customers. (It’s a long process: they all need gift-wrapping, ribbons, and a handwritten address label 🙂

Nonetheless, there’s still time for a little wedding planning break, I think!

Definitely not work. Friday afternoon, are we all gazing wistfully outside at the last vestiges of sunshine as the brightness fades just in time for the weekend? Ah well. Ideally we’d be sat outside a little pavement cafe in a little out-of-the-way place or people-watching outside a bar in the city centre – neither planning weddings or working, while the sunshine lasts!

Here’s a quick weekly round up of my favourite bits of wedding blog. Enjoy – and have a gorgeous weekend.

Afternoon everyone, and I hope wherever you are you’re looking forward to the weekend already. Once more, it’s time for a little diversion from the world of wedding blogs. As Davina once used to say, here are your best bits:

I have to confess: I’m out and about this week and writing this blog post in a bit of a hurry. But I still have to share a few of the best bits of internet I’ve been enjoying over the last week or so.

Mark Niemierko is the wedding planner who inspires the whole of the UK wedding industry, a hugely talented and creative man who lets his work speak for him. I approached Mark shyly via email for a mini-interview and he very kindly obliged. I almost fell off my chair.

Mark, your inspirational wedding planning and design has earned you an unrivalled reputation in the wedding industry. What does it take to be so successful in wedding planning?

“Experience and knowledge. Of all the things that could possibly go wrong, to ensure you avoid them. But a big part is being organised and have great people skills. All couples are different and you’ll need to get along with as well as understand them all.”

I’m sure if you’ve got something really important to finish it can wait five minutes. There’s an hour or two left before home time after all. You deserve a break, it’s Friday afternoon! We’re into weekend time already if you ask me 🙂

Course, if you like this little lot you can while away the time until 4 or 5 just blog-hopping and enjoying lots of wedding inspiration. I should apologise to brides and grooms who aren’t bloggers by the way: I’ve been reading a lot about blogging this week so there’s a bit of advice in here too.

Enjoy! (and next time you look at the clock it might just be home-time…)

For the first time this year, to brighten your Friday, here’s a bit of wedding blog love for you to enjoy!

This one’s been a long time coming, has it not? And I’m especially sympathetic to everyone in an office out there this week: I feel your pain, having spent much of this week surrounded in piles of paper – I’ve been doing my accounts. Ick!

But this… now this is fun. For me it’s research. For you it’s half an hour or more, as you wish, reading and getting inspired and looking at gorgeous pics!
