I’m sat here writing today’s wedding blog with a little tear in my eye. Wedding films move me – they do! The nervous moments as a groom waits for his bride get me every time! And then he reaches towards her and has to wipe away a tear… it’s magical, and so lovely. So – a warning: Davina and Dave will make you cry! Enjoy their Sheffield wedding highlights film by Love Gets Sweeter and read Davina’s beautifully written wedding story below (I laughed out loud at Dave and the dolphin trainer!)

Dave and Davina: a beautiful Sheffield wedding blog

When Dave proposed after 5 years together I knew that we weren’t going to have a long engagement and eagerly got stuck into planning our big day. Although we had no idea where we wanted to get married we knew that it had to be big enough for our family and friends without being cold and uninviting.

Hello there! What a quick month February turned out to be! The wedding season is well on the way now, and I’m getting ever so busy with calligraphy orders for some of you lovely brides and grooms out there! It’s wonderful to see so many new visitors to English Wedding Blog this month, and if you’re a new subscriber I’d like to say a special big hello and welcome! There’s so much going on in wedding news right now – and I have lots of amazing ideas and features to share with you over the next few weeks so do stick around!

For today it’s over to Sassi Holford and I’m sharing the fabulous 2013 Couture Collection with you. I adore this collection for its elegance and grace – the gowns take inspiration from brides themselves, which is such a lovely thing to hear.

The designs are classic English in style, with timeless elegance and a contemporary edge. Whatever your venue or wedding style, whether you’re marrying in a cathedral, a country house or a boutique hotel – there’s something from the Sassi Holford Couture Collection for you!

From police tape around the wedding cake to the softly sparkling lights and Nicola’s stunning vintage lace wedding dress, I adore every detail of this gorgeous Vaulty Manor wedding. If you’re considering or planning a Christmas wedding then you’ll find some gorgeous ideas here with Nicola and Tim’s wedding report and the beautiful images from Tracy Morter Photography to inspire you.

I love a Christmas wedding – somehow all the love and friendship along with twinkly lights and little red accessories and details turn the coldest time of the year into a warm and welcoming occasion. My parents chose December for their wedding, and I can definitely see why it’s such a popular time of year to get hitched.

Anyway – I know you’ll enjoy today’s real wedding on the blog so grab a cuppa and scroll down to see all the images. Thanks to Nicola and Tim for sharing, and to the very lovely Tracy Morter Photography for submitting another gorgeous wedding to the blog!

Hello there! Today’s wedding blog starts with a warning: you might just find a little tear in your eye as we focus on some of the best moments from weddings around the UK. We’re talking emotional grooms – happy tears and celebratory whoops – all caught on camera.

I was reading You & Your Wedding magazine yesterday, and looking at the real weddings in there. The printed magazines allocate less space to their real couples’ features than most of the top blogs do – it’s all part of the business model (read more of my thoughts on wedding magazines). It means they show lots of images of ‘things’ and details in their real wedding features, and very few photos of the bride and groom, or of the key moments in a wedding day.

Hello there! It’s time to share my favourite wedding blogs from recent weeks once again on English Wedding Blog. Sit back and enjoy the best real weddings, creative ideas and advice articles for brides and grooms – and share your own finds and favourites in the comments if you’ve spotted something I’ve missed!

Happy Friday everyone! xxx

Good morning, wedding blog lovers! Today’s beautiful bride Annabel got in touch with me back in November to tell me all about her wedding to Anthony back in the summer of 2012. I was immediately smitten with their wedding story and loved the style of this beautiful day: white hydrangeas, a 6ft cathedral mirror with calligraphy (by my friend Angelo Meola) for a seating plan, and of course the magnificent wedding venue Syon Park.

Annabel has shared such a great wedding report I really don’t want to write too much here so all I’ll say is thank you both to Annabel and Anthony, and to wedding photographer Especially Amy for sharing the images with us today.

The wedding report from Annabel is about half way down the page, and I have to share my favourite line from it to set the scene for this blog feature:

Annabel says, “at the end of the day everyone is there to celebrate you and your husband which is the only thing that matters and creates the most incredible feeling of love, warmth and fun on the day!

Good morning! How was your Valentine’s Day? Mine was really lovely – romantic and special. I hope you all had a wonderful day to remember, and for those of you celebrating your last Valentine’s Day before you become Mr & Mrs, I hope you had the best day ever! We’re celebrating on the blog with a February wedding at Blenheim Palace. This is romantic, and timeless, and has some gorgeous details you’ll love as well as some fascinating traditions to discover.

Rahele and Michalis used their cultural backgrounds to inspire their wedding day. I love the Persian tradition of dipping pinky fingers into honey to share! – watch out for the photo and read Rahele’s explanation in her wedding report about half way down this blog feature.

The images are all from Weddings by Nicola & Glen – Oxfordshire based wedding photographers who’ve recently had a wedding featured on Style Me Pretty! I think they’re fabulous and I’m sure you’ll agree! They’ve very kindly taken the time to write an introduction to today’s wedding blog for us. Enjoy! Claire xxx

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! (Yes, as a wedding blogger I can officially say that to everyone I know and I don’t think I’ll be in trouble – I love you all.) I’ve jumped very firmly from “I don’t do Valentines” into embracing the occasion with everything I’ve got, and can’t wait for a lovely romantic afternoon and evening. (But you’re not invited… 😉

Happy Valentine’s Day!

So what are your plans? Are you going out? Staying in? Celebrating your last Valentine’s Day before you get married? Or maybe you’re a first-time wedding blog visitor (because he proposed over breakfast – in which case congratulations!) – I hope you have the loveliest Valentine’s Day no matter what you’re doing.

There are always newspaper features and stories with a bit of an anti-Valentines focus on the 14th of February – fair enough: it’s not the best day if you’re single. I also understand the argument that it’s an excuse for Hallmark and the likes of Clintons to sell cards. Bah humbug…

What is it about Dirty Dancing?! The mere mention of “I’ve had the time of my life” and I’m singing all. day. long! But it makes me happy… and dancing to it is one of today’s gorgeous couple’s favourite wedding memories. Michelle and David had the most beautiful wedding in Nottingham last year: modern and elegant with lots of white and classy decor ideas.

The images are by Butterworth Photography, who get a glowing review in Michelle’s wedding report, which you’ll find halfway down this page.

This wedding’s a feast for the eyes so grab a cuppa and enjoy! Claire xxx

I married my amazing husband, David, on 23rd June 2012, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Woodthorpe, Nottingham. We had our reception at The Carriage Hall in Plumtree, Nottingham.

Today’s wedding is all about the pretty details: Katie and Craig were married at Buxted Park and opted for an English country garden wedding style with pastel shades of pink and flower garlands to decorate wedding tables.

Wedding blog UK Cecelina Photography (1)

Katie made all of her wedding reception stationery herself, and the details made for a very beautiful day at one of England’s luxury wedding venues. I’m sure her lovely ideas will inspire some of you – it would be great if you leave a comment at the end of the blog post for Katie and Craig.

All of today’s images are by London’s Cecelina Photography – my huge thanks to Cecelina for submitting this wedding. The wedding report is halfway down this blog feature, but before I launch into the words and pictures, I’d like to share Katie’s glowing review of the staff at Buxted Park wedding venue with you – because it’s so lovely:

“They cannot do enough to help you before, during and after the wedding day. It runs like clockwork without making you feel like “just another wedding”.”

Hurray for three-day weeks, hey?! Even for those of us who avoid the daily commute and office politics, there’s something lovely about putting three days in before suddenly realising it’s Saturday morning. Whatever your plans for today, I hope you have a good one and make the most of your freedom this weekend!

Of course weekends are pretty damn good for doing a little wedding research or reading up on pretty ideas too. With that in mind, here’s one of my regular ‘best wedding blogs’ articles with some links to loveliness, real weddings, ideas and advice.

Enjoy! (especially if you’re still in bed reading this!) Claire xx

Real weddings

Emily and Joe’s Rutland wedding is everything I love: a very beautiful day full of smiles, romance and magical moments. Their DIY wedding came about from a wish to have a very personal celebration which would be – in Emily’s own words – “full of the things and people that we love”.

Emily and Joe: A DIY wedding in Rutland

The day turned out to be everything Emily and Joe had dreamed of: with a relaxed and cosy reception venue (The Finch’s Arms) and plenty of home made details, it was perfect for today’s gorgeous bride and groom to celebrate their love in a very personalised style. There are ideas here for all of you creative brides and grooms – from hand-sewn tea bags as wedding favours to applique table numbers and handmade bunting.
