Out of the goodness of my heart (and the generosity of my tummy) I have been busy reviewing cheesecakes on your behalf. Isn’t that lovely! Hehe – the English Cheesecake Company sent me some of their yummy cheesecake cupcakes to taste and tell you about. I’m only too happy to oblige!

Loads of couples are experimenting with alternatives to the traditional tiered wedding cake. Smaller cakes and cheesecakes can be part of a creative display which looks fab. They’re also convenient because you can serve guests a piece of cheesecake or a cupcake for their dessert. This makes so much more sense than the tradition of tiered cakes which then have to be taken away and sliced, then either served after the main meal or given to guests to take home.

The English Cheesecake Company have rather ingeniously combined cheesecakes and cupcakes – which they describe as a “heavenly piece of luxury you won’t be able to resist”.

It’s true. With a little help from my boyfriend, I had eight (not all at once).

Morning everyone! I’d like to share this inspirational bridal shoot with you – inspired by ballet and described as “a photo shoot that is like no other“, it’s a stunningly beautiful fusion of ballet and weddings. It’s so good you might fall over.

ballet bridal shoot ideas Martin Bell Photography (2)

I fell in love with this ballet bridal shoot instantly, and I’ve a feeling you’re going to love it just as much as I do. The shoot covers a wide range of eras including dresses and accessories from the 1920’s – 1950’s and was carried out at Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest. Two professional ballet dancers were the Brides for the day, and they were from wedding photographer Martin Bell‘s old ballet company – Northern Ballet. Martin is based in Hampshire and covers weddings across the UK and internationally. He is also a professional dance photographer. www.martinbell-photography.co.uk

Whatever else influences your wedding day, the key focus should be on personality. Make sure your wedding is ‘you’ and don’t let suppliers, families or wedding magazines tell you what to do. Guys and girls, I’m here to tell you that if you’d like to have a Doctor Who theme then you should absolutely go for it, and make it awesome!

wedding in Hertfordshire by Lumiere Photography (1)

Matthew and Emma’s wedding in Hertfordshire had a subtle Doctor Who theme running throughout the day. They used blue as a key colour and had little touches like neon lighting in the flower centrepieces to hint at their theme… which was realised well and truly with a Doctor Who cake topper: bride + groom + tardis!

Their day begins with a classic church wedding and ends with both mums rocking out on the dancefloor to Teenage Dirtbag. Shall we dive in? Congratulations and huge thanks to gorgeous couple Matthew and Emma, and thanks as ever to lovely Leicestershire wedding photographer Alix Marina-Chouhan of Lumiere Photography. Everyone, enjoy! If anyone actually has booked a dancing swan, I’d love to know… this was actually mentioned in a real wedding blog post featured a few months ago! It’s not something I’ve seen, and while I’m not about to tell you it’s something you NEED for your wedding I’d quite like to have one for my boyfriend’s birthday. I think he’d like the surprise…

Dancing swans aside, what can you learn from all of the brides and grooms who’ve had their weddings featured on the English Wedding Blog in the last year?

Quite a lot.

The shortest of introductions today because Andrew from Lightworks Photography writes beautifully – better than I do. Unmissable reading… an eye-opener indeed! Enjoy. Claire x

On arriving at church to photograph a wedding recently:

Vicar: “You must be the photographer, I can tell because you look like you don’t know what you’re doing”

Me: (having picked jaw up from floor and mentally counted to ten) “Hello, nice to meet you. I can assure you I know exactly what I’m doing, I’ve been photographing weddings professionally for over ten years. What are you worried about?”

Vicar: “That you won’t do as you’re told!”

Me: (struggling now, but outwardly the paradigm of professionalism) “Ok….What exactly would you prefer me to do?”

It’s extra special when a groom answers my English Wedding Blog questionnaire, and Andrew’s story of his wedding to beautiful bride Harriette is so romantic – you’ll love it! Such a gorgeous couple, and creative too: Andrew designed all the stationery, and details and accessories came from Etsy, Ted Baker and David Beckham!

Sorry Andrew… that part of your questionnaire made me chuckle! Love it!

So here’s a fabulous English wedding blog which I know you’ll enjoy seeing more of. The images are by Maureen Du Preez (thanks Maureen!) and words are by today’s rather dashing groom Andrew. Oh! Let’s start with a quote (because it’s a heart-melter…) from Andrew – his memorable moments from the day:

“the moment I turned to see my bride walk in, she took my breath away!!! Also to see my father shedding a tear and the smile on my mother’s face made it so special for me.”

Harriette and Andrew, congratulations and thank you SO much for sharing with us today. Everyone – enjoy! Claire x

Hello everyone! Who’s got sunshine this afternoon? I’m going to quickly share a couple of highlights from a Warwickshire wedding with you – do click through to read more and see how beautiful bride Rachel and her groom Nick combined vintage touches with elegant English wedding styling.

by Alix Marina-Chouhan, Lumiere Photography

Nick and Rachel got married at Bosworth Hall last year- I know I am behind with my blogs!- and time went so fast that we didn’t have time for all the shots we had planned. I offered to come back in the morning but they were happy to leave it as their day actually went. They oozed happiness and I know they have kept as happy as they were, we have kept in touch and Nick ordered a huge multi frame of their wedding photos for their first anniversary- paper.

Here are a few photos. To see more go to http://www.lumiere-photography.co.uk/weddings/bosworth-hall-wedding/

Ryan and Andrea’s May wedding was full of creativity and style, inspired by their wedding venue. They married at Preston Court in Kent – a famously beautiful wedding venue with its very own carousel. This inspired the circus themed elements to today’s English country wedding, which I think you’ll adore!

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve had a lovely week. I’m working on a few little blog features for the weeks ahead and I’ve had to turn off the TV, avoid reading anything online or in magazines and steer pretty clear of wedding blogs and websites – as well as my inbox!

The Great Gatsby

Is it me or do they look a tiny bit bored already?

Why? I’m all Great Gatsbied-out.

Art Deco is a wonderfully inspiring style. It doesn’t quite fit with my wedding calligraphy business, but the striking lines and impactful fonts make for amazing wedding stationery. The glitz and glam are to die for as far as wedding dresses and bridal accessories go. But I need to make a confession: it’s not really me.

So I’m looking for fresh alternatives to Gatsby styling and wedding ideas which aren’t inspired by art deco this week! Can you help me?

Phil and Clare’s UK wedding is beautiful and lovely and makes the most of personal touches for wedding guests. I know you’ll love today’s bride and groom (and of course adorable little Alfie!) – and I think you’ll take some of their ideas away with you too!

Mixing the best of vintage elegance with more modern elements, Clare describes their wedding style as being “all about lace, soft pink colourings, roses, hearts and crystals. Everything encaptured one or more of these details.

Have you seen the 2014 wedding dress collection by Jenny Packham yet? Wedding blogs are always brimming with excitement at news of a new JP collection and this year is no exception! I’m delighted to be able to share my picks of Jenny’s new bridal range with you today.

Jean

If you’re looking for that classic Jenny Packham bridal look then you’ll love Florence, Jean and Rose – for me they’re all outstanding designs which are instantly recognisable as Jenny’s with the beading and embellishments we love so much!

Other designs in the collection have the timeless elegance so popular with modern brides.  Jenny takes inspiration from The Belle Epoque or ‘beautiful era’ which transformed fashion, abandoning restrictive corsetry and creating the flowing silhouette ever since associated with the Age of Elegance.

A statement of romantically soft, feminine design, the collection encapsulates the spirit of Edwardian style and the Art Nouveau movement which defined it. Intricate, light beading, delicate embellishment and clean, understated silhouettes play homage to an Edwardian inspiration, whilst romantically voluminous ballerina skirts, graceful tulle sleeves and elegantly exposed backs bring to mind a very modern bride, evoking scenes of a chic European destination wedding.
