Hello lovelies! I hope you’ve had a good day and are just about packing up your pens and pencils ready to dash out of the office for hometime… a moment I used to love when I had what we call a “proper job”!

I’m definitely in a YES! mood so if you have a wedding up your sleeve you haven’t submitted yet (the lighter and summerier the better!) email me!

Just send me a link to your blog post or facebook album of the wedding. My email is info@English-Wedding.com

So the best thing in Rich and Victoria’s wedding report is the impeccable logic behind their wedding cakes: a Victoria sponge and a Rich chocolate cake… geddit?! Genius – and this perfectly sets the scene for a wonderfully creative wedding with lots of DIY touches and vintage style. There were so many gorgeous images I’m not even showing you all of them right now – instead I’ll save some of my favourites for tomorrow in a ‘get the look’ feature to inspire you for your own creative wedding!

creative wedding blog Babb Photo (1)

Today’s wedding blog feature is all about the beautiful bride and gorgeous groom. They describe their wedding as “The most perfect, unforgettable and incredibly humbling day with all the people you love in one room!” – and what could possibly be better? It looks as amazing as it sounds, with images by the lovely Laura of Babb Photo (who gets a rave review from our star couple!)

I always thought I’d never get married. It just wasn’t something I’d ever really thought about as a girl, and then as I grew up it became a bit of an alien concept: something other people do. Not for me.

Now – maybe I’m more mature than I was – I’ve changed my mind. I might get married one day, if that’s what life has in store for me… but I don’t think I’ll ever have a wedding.

You’re already forgiven for wondering how anyone can get married without a wedding. As far as the wedding media goes, the two go hand in hand. When you get married you wear a big white dress and invite everyone you know to celebrate with you… and you decorate the occasion.

Why, though?

I’m a creative thinker. I live my life differently to the majority of people: I am self-employed, I’m in a creative industry, I like spending as much time as I can on the tops of mountains.

I’ll let you into a little secret: when I started writing the English Wedding Blog I didn’t know much about wedding dresses. My dream was to unite brides and grooms with the most creative and exciting wedding designers I could find. At the back of my mind was a hazy picture of a unique bride; a woman who wanted to be beautiful and different. This dream bride wasn’t afraid to amaze people, to break all the rules in a delightfully playful way. It’s only today I’ve discovered what she’d wear for her wedding: a Joanne Fleming designer wedding dress.

The Harebell and the Bee wedding dress by Joanne Fleming Design

The softest French lace is hand dyed and layered over silk chiffon and silk crepe-back satin for this romantic style with cowl front neckline extending into a low V back neckline. The design closes at centre back with tiny silk covered buttons and rouleau loops, and is embellished with hand tinted silk organza flowers with freshwater pearl centres. A sterling silver bee nestles in the cluster of rosettes at the girdle waistline.”

Hey lovelies! Friday at last and I’m smiling for lots of reasons this morning! 1 – I get to see my gorgeous boyfriend in a few hours’ time yay! 2 – it’s going to be March tomorrow and that means spring! and 3 – I’ve got a beautiful sunny wedding to share with you all today, thanks to gorgeous bride and groom Amy and Matt, and to Dorset wedding photographer Howard Lucas.

Dorset wedding blog by Howard Lucas Photography (29)I’ve never seen a wedding with a steam train before… but I’d love to see more! The bride and groom, and all of the wedding guests, travelled by train from the church to the reception. I love it – what a charming way to make your wedding one to remember! Oh but there’s also Amy’s divine wedding dress, the bright and charming bouquet, and the countryside charm of the village hall wedding venue with bright paper lanterns… you will LOVE this! Enjoy.

Are you hiring a stately home for your wedding day? Will you be making the very most of the venue – playing the lord and lady and enjoying every last drop of luxury and aristocratic style for the day?! For me, getting married in a grand country house is an opportunity to really treat yourselves and your guests to a luxurious experience you’ll never forget!

Suffolk wedding blog Gavin Conlan Hengrave (4)

Hengrave Hall is one of those wonderful English country mansions where the atmosphere is richly romantic, enchantingly atmospheric… and I wanted to show you the gorgeous photos from Bryony and Aaron’s winter wedding which really capture the luxury of a magnificent wedding venue. Essex wedding photographer Gavin Conlan kindly shared their wedding images with us today on the English Wedding Blog.

Bryony and Aaron’s wedding will also appear in my real weddings menu at the top of the English Wedding Blog. See more Suffolk weddings on the English Wedding Blog by navigating from the top menu of the English Wedding Blog to real weddings by region! Enjoy today’s wedding everyone!

Yay, it’s wedding film time! You’ll love this – Daisy and Dari’s wedding is gorgeous with lovely yellow accents and a bit of a daisy theme… genius! Watching Daisy and Dari say their vows brought a little tear to my eye this morning. You have to see this – and you’ll be imagining yourself in Daisy’s shoes by the end of the film! Best bits for me – Daisy’s beautiful sparkly headband, the bridesmaids in yellow, a trip past Lovers Lane on the way from church to reception, and the soft yellow daisy cake 🙂 There’s more about the wedding after the film by Steve Sale, Newlywed Films. Enjoy!

It was Julie, Daisy’s Mum, who first got in touch with us at Newlywed Films from a recommendation from the superb photographer Luke Woodford (http://www.lukewoodford.com) who we had worked with before. It sounded amazing and both Luke and I were on board in no time.

Morning lovely! Oooh it’s so cold! I’m starting to collect gloves and mittens… every time I go shopping I forget them, and buy a new pair… and now I’m tempted to put them all on at once! Brr. But my typing fingers won’t be defeated as I have the most beautiful wedding at Stancliffe Hall to share with you. It’s a venue I haven’t shared on the English Wedding Blog before (but you can see more Derbyshire weddings here) – and it’s pretty special. A Grade II listed hall with some fabulous contemporary touches, it’s the perfect setting for Joanna and Darron’s super chic wedding.

The bride and groom are gorgeous and the love in their eyes just sparkles – I adore the sunlit images, and the colours in Joanna’s bouquet are fabulous. You’ll love it. But my favourite bit? It’s that cake. There’s just something sooo tempting about naked cakes, isn’t there?! Anyway – you’ll love all of today’s beautiful wedding.

So I poked a little fun at the marketing team for Sharpie markers recently, when they sent out a press release telling me that marker pens were a perfect match for weddings. Maybe it was a little bit mean… they didn’t know I was a wedding calligrapher… and my choice of pen is a little more refined, traditional and elegant.

calligraphy and markers review (1)

My Sharpie marker story continues…

Rebecca Williams got in touch with me straight away after reading my post Bad wedding marketing from Sharpie marker pens – “As the director of the Sharpie PR account, I couldn’t help but notice your blog about our wedding press release. While you’re absolutely entitled to your opinion (and you’re right, Sharpies are not to be used for calligraphy) we’d love to change your mind about them being a fat marker pen.  With this in mind, I’d like to send you our standard Fine Point range, along with some of our Ultra Fine markers, for you to use in your own time.”
