This morning as we all shiver our way through the day I have some more winter bridal inspiration to share with you. I loved this shoot, with beautiful images by wedding photographer Brett Symes -with help from make-up artist Tora Young and stylist Natalie Dale. Brett has photographed numerous bridal fashion shoots, many of which have ended up in the national wedding magazines. He told me, “it’s incredible how these shoots start in influence and spill over into the way in which I photograph a wedding”.

Winter wedding look one: ethereal lace

by wedding photographer Brett Symes (7)by wedding photographer Brett Symes (1)Lace is a huge trend in 2012 weddings. Kate Middleton made a big statement with her beautiful lace sleeves (the story of which still brings shivers up my spine: lacemakers having to wash their hands every 20 minutes, the lace so very delicate and fine) – but there’s none of the formality of Kate’s dress here. Lace is beautiful and ethereal, a fabric so intricate spiders could have made it for the queen of the fairies in a forest…

wedding photography by Martyn Norsworthy (20)The best English weddings are full of charm which comes right from your heart: Dan and Holly’s day is a special one. Holly’s wedding report describes how she woke up at 5am on the wedding day morning bursting with excitement – “the kind you get on Christmas day when you are a child!”

So how could I resist sharing this lovely wedding full of DIY touches and great ideas with you. It’s everything you’d imagine for a countryside wedding and bundles more: there’s bunting by the mile, and as an extra treat we have a vintage tractor and of course the adorable Peanuts the pony!

wedding photography by Martyn Norsworthy (26)“I stayed at my parents’ house the night before the wedding and awoke at 5am full of excitement-the kind you get on Christmas day when you are a child! The weather looked ok so I got up and finished putting some finishing touches to the garden and marquee-within half an hour it was raining so had go and collect everything in again!

wedding invitation ideas for summer

wedding invitation ideas for summerOn Friday I asked wedding invitation designers from all over the UK to share their best bright and summery invites with English Wedding blog. A cold and frosty day turned into a little ray of sunshine for me as lots of talented designers joined in to showcase wedding invitations with a cheerful spring and summer feel to them.

A new feature on English Wedding blog

This will become a regular feature because it gives you lovely readers out there a chance to see lots of new and exciting designs and ideas, all in one place.

(I’m thinking next time I might look for jewellery and accessories on a theme… if you have a theme, season or style in mind, give me a shout and I’ll ask for ideas for your theme!)

Do pop over to the English Wedding Showcase to see the summery wedding invitations in glorious technicolour (by which I mean: bigger. They also have descriptions and more info from the designers over there). In the meantime, here’s a round up of all the designs shared: two wedding inspiration boards with all the supplier information below each one.

winter wedding blog by Lifeline Photography (18)I’ve been waiting so long for a cold snap. I pictured myself blogging all wrapped up and toasty, with glistening icicles outside and this winter berries wedding inspiration shoot on my screen, next to a mug of steaming hot chocolate…

Well there’s no snow outside (yet). I give up!!! But it’s chilly. It’s been frosty… and the sparkles on the pavement in the morning say it’s time to blog this lovely wedding inspiration shoot!

Two posts – all about the shoot today, and an inspiration board to share with you tomorrow. If you’re having a winter wedding, think of sparkly frost and crystals, red berries all shiny and light with a little snow on top… a little bit of white (fake) fur, and plenty of gorgeous sparkle. Hannah Webster (of Lifeline Photography) and friends are here to show you how!

I love maps. I love photos that stop me in my tracks a bit. I love seeing something just a tad different. I love Alex and James’s wedding at Harlaxton Manor, with its towers and turrets and old English charm. I just love blogging weddings!

wedding photo by Beautiful Life Photography (26)I shared part one of this beautiful Harlaxton Manor wedding yesterday. I have loads more to share today (best bits till last, an’ all that). More of Alex’s beautiful lace wedding dress, some jaw-dropping pics of Harlaxton Manor (it’s a whopper), croquet, maps (did I mention the maps?), huge smiles, romance and laughter.

Of course, there’s Alex’s wedding report to share with you, and once again the beautiful images are from Beautiful Life Photography (funnily enough).

Enjoy!

wedding blog by Brett Symes (25)Anthea and Nimish had a perfectly elegant, wonderfully stylish wedding at Dartmouth House in London. An exclusive wedding venue for a couple whose calm, sophisticated personalities fit beautifully with the luxurious surroundings.

I will always believe that weddings should be ‘you’ in that they are a celebration of your own style and personality – and whether your wedding’s held in a tipi or a mansion, you should feel at home. Anthea and Nimish fit this venue like a glove. The wedding photographs by Brett Symes Photography exude the same elegance and style.

wedding blog by Brett Symes (24)Anthea shared some details of the day with English Wedding blog. I will leave you to enjoy the story of this beautiful bride and handsome groom. I hope you love today’s wedding blog – it’s special.

Christine runs her bridal boutique from New Cavendish Street, London and I loved it because it was as different from the regular bridal shops as it was possible to get. I had several fittings with Christine and each time, Christine was an oasis of calm professionalism, exactly what I needed!

wedding photo by Marshal Gray (37)Wedding photographer Marshal Gray is a wedding photographer too cool for school, with a wonderfully artistic approach and a fantastic blog. Real name Gary Marshal, I’m sure I’ve called him Marshal more than once since we first chatted online a year or so ago. He’s a lovely guy, and the perfect choice for Louisa and Andrew.

This wonderful couple were married at Surrey’s Northbrook Park last summer. The sun shone, the day went swingingly and there are some beautiful images of the bride and groom here for you to enjoy. My favourites are the look they exchange, holding hands when they’ve put the wedding rings on – and the bit where Louisa gets to try on lots of shoes… Cinderella style! I’ll leave you to see that one for yourself!

wedding photo by Marshal Gray (38)Louisa very kindly emailed her wedding story for English Wedding blog, and her own favourite memory of the day is really touching. I’ll leave you with Louisa’s words and wedding photography by Marshal Gray. Enjoy!

This cute hand-drawn card for “Miss Payne and Adam” got me first. Then I fell in love with the sense of camaraderie at Alexis and Adam’s Mitton Hall wedding. The icing on the cake was – well, the gorgeous little cake sculptures which are little adventures of quirkiness all to themselves.

wedding photo by Jonny Draper (30)

I feel as though I’ve followed Alexis’s wedding planning journey a little, and I was excited to see her wedding day – I’d heard all about the lovely lady from my friend and wedding photographer Jonny Draper months and months ago when we first met.

wedding photo by Jonny Draper (16)

I admired Jonny’s approach to building his (already successful) wedding photography business around friendships, both with clients and wedding suppliers. Alexis was to become a huge part of that – I’d already seen her with Adam on their cool pre-wedding shoot in Castlefield (featured here too: City Chic engagement shoot). I spotted her at the Mitton Hall Wedding Supper Club on Jonny’s blog, and then she modelled at the West Didsbury Wedding Event in March – I felt as though I knew Alexis already!

wedding photo by Kirsten Mavric (33)Yesterday I was delighted to share Nicola and Bertie’s beautiful Derbyshire wedding blog with you – with the most gorgeous photos from Kirsten Mavric.

Nicola was a truly beautiful bride in an exquisite lace wedding dress by Sassi Holford, marrying Bertie in a Derbyshire village church with an old English feel to the day. I loved their focus on family and friends, and hearing about Nicola’s jewellery – all family heirlooms – was a real treat.

Today it’s time for the wedding reception, and I’ll leave you with part two of Nicola’s wedding story to enjoy!

Bertie and I had some photographs on our own in a field opposite the church – for which I clambered over a style – before joining everyone else.
