Rolling hills, beautiful gardens… fabulous wisteria blooms in spring and a gorgeous arbour for outdoor weddings: Surrey and Kent couples will LOVE Oaks Farm.

This is more than a barn, more than a countryside venue. Oaks Farm has its very own charm, and a lovely choice of locations for your ceremony and reception. The summer house is so pretty; the barn and orangery are perfect for indoor ceremonies, the gardens are beautifully looked after and stunning all year round.

Oaks Farm is a really beautiful hidden jem of a venue. It’s minutes from the hustle of Croydon and Bromley and yet seems a real idyll of country calm.” ~ Fiona Kelly Photography, London

Fiona Kelly is one of Oaks Farm’s recommended photographers. She loves to shoot outdoor weddings and has asked me to look out for couples marrying in amazing spaces:

Imagine the perfect summer wedding day on a 16th century farm converted into the loveliest country guesthouse. The sound of birds singing as you wake, the glow of the sun across the grasses and greenery of acres of wildflower meadows. You can even have your ceremony outdoors at lovely Elvey Farm – our gorgeous couple Jo & Sam did just that.

Elvey Farm can help with your wedding planning – their package includes food and drink, flowers and photography or you can bring in your own suppliers if you prefer. I loved Jo and Sam’s wedding which was photographed by lovely Fiona Kelly Photography. I know Fiona would love to shoot more outdoor weddings so do get in touch if you’re booking Elvey Farm, won’t you?!

Jo told me “Elvey Farm has its own florist, a wonderful lady called Lesley Masters. I gave Lesley some rough ideas and asked for everything to appear natural like it had just been picked from the garden and she came up with the beautiful creations.

Sunday was the spring equinox, which means summer is on the way… and so our wedding venue of the week has to be all about the outdoors! Loudwater Farm is the perfect Hertfordshire escape for a romantic summer wedding.

The outdoor space is perfect: surrounded by trees, a lovely spot for hay bales and strings of bunting or fairy lights… it makes for a natural, welcoming and comfortable ceremony space and is one of the loveliest spots for outdoor weddings I’ve seen in the UK.

I featured Jess & Joe’s Loudwater Farm wedding on the blog a little while back, and couldn’t resist another look! All images are by Colin Nicholls Photography, based in Hereford.

Loudwater Farm is only 35 minutes from central London, and hires out its Grade II listed barn for weddings. There are also 8 guest rooms, and for music and dancing you can hire the Chess Hall for your evening reception… it’s most definitely worth a visit!

Billed as Surrey’s premier wedding venue, Northbrook Park is a pretty amazing place – and if your budget allows, then it’s a gorgeous location for a classic English wedding. Northbrook has featured on the English Wedding Blog a handful of times, always taking a back seat as we showcase fabulous real weddings… and so today I thought it was time we explored a little more!

My calligraphy went to Northbrook Park before me… lovely Jennifer Sinclair has told me all about this fabulous Surrey wedding venue, and the images I’m sharing with you today are from a styled shoot by Jennifer a few weeks ago. I’ll be sharing more from the masquerade wedding inspiration shoot very soon!

Step into a whole world of elegance and old English charm with me… for a peek inside one of our loveliest country house wedding venues, Pendrell Hall. From the outside Pendrell is enticing and full of character, with delicious red brick walls and glistening window panes… and inside it’s a world of luxurious wood panelling, divine decor and subtle, elegant style. Gorgeous couple Lyndsey and Dan were married there, and I asked them to share their own personal experience of this wonderful wedding venue with us all today.

Earlier this month we featured gorgeous couple Laura & Chris’s wedding from Shottle Hall, in Derbyshire. I fell in love with the wedding breakfast rooms and the grounds of the place as soon as I saw their images – and it’s taken me a few weeks to find out more to tell you about one of Derbyshire’s premier wedding venues. Images are all by lovely Jon Cripwell Photography.

Shottle Hall is a stately home near Belper, set in its own enchanting gardens and is available as an exclusive use wedding venue. It’s licensed for ceremonies so you can wake up, get married, celebrate and sleep all under one fabulous roof. What I love most about this place is it’s flexible: Laura told me Shottle Hall didn’t impose restrictions on catering, for example, so they served mini cupcakes instead of canapés before the wedding breakfast – which is awesome.

So here’s an unusual one – a venue which caught my eye as much as it did my imagination. And you know what? I love wedding venues which are different, unique – especially when they’re not dedicated wedding venues.

I’m always asking why wedding venues can’t afford decent chairs: if every restaurant in the land manages to have chairs which don’t need polyester covers, how come our top venues still have dodgy business chairs we have to pay to hide?! It makes me want to hire a proper restaurant instead; somewhere that just looks awesome. Oh! And here’s one…

Time once again, lovely readers, to join me in discovering one of England’s loveliest wedding venues. How Caple Court is in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside and must be one of the most magical places to explore. On your wedding day, there are more quiet corners than you could ever imagine to sneak away for romantic moments and gorgeous photographs of just the two of you: it simply looks blissful to me.

How Caple Court’s website is well worth a visit. Soar over the venue’s rooftops and explore every inch from the sky: it’s wonderful!

Photographer Gemma Williams introduced me to How Caple Court when she submitted Kath and Doug’s vintage-inspired wedding. ” The styling of their wedding was elegant and vintage-inspired, with lace and lavender aplenty. This went perfectly with the rustic backdrop of How Caple Court.” You can see their wedding featured on the English Wedding Blog here: Kath & Doug’s vintage lace wedding at How Caple Court

As well as asking real brides and grooms, I turn to wedding photographers to find out what really makes a wedding venue special. Back in November I featured Natalie and Darren’s wedding on the blog, and I know you’ll find Samantha’s words on their venue insightful and very helpful in your wedding venue search:

“Stubton Hall is a stunning 19th Century country house set in the Lincolnshire countryside with amazing grounds and fabulous water features. I was privileged to have the opportunity to be a Stubton Hall wedding photographer.

Wedding blogs are a journey of discovery, of new places, photographers, designers and couples – and I love writing the English Wedding Blog so much. Today I want to introduce you to the Manor Hotel at Castle Combe – a grand country house in a tranquil Cotswold village.

Hampshire Photographer Jennifer Sinclair knows the venue well. “The Manor House is set in the beautiful picturesque Cotswold village of Castle Combe.  The venue is amazing; such an idyllic and romantic choice of venue for a wedding.

Through the grand entrance gates, the long sweeping drive over the stone bridge, leads to the amazing 14th Century Manor House.  The Manor House is beautiful both inside and out.  With oak framed beams and quaint windows, the bedrooms are perfect for bridal preparations.

The Manor house is set in beautiful grounds and has the most amazing stone steps leading up to the upper grounds which makes an fantastic setting for not going only group photographs but also bride and groom photographs.

Rob and Sarah Gillespie – my lovely friends and blog supporters – have photographed weddings at Studley Castle before, and know it well. They shot Lori and Tom’s stunning castle wedding there this summer – images used in today’s feature are from this beautiful wedding.

“Studley Castle is a 19th century ‘country house’ which has been used for several purposes since being built, but has been a hotel and wedding venue for quite a few years now. Photographically there is much to take advantage of within the building itself and in the surrounding grounds.” ~ Rob & Sarah Gillespie

I love being asked to send calligraphy for styled photoshoots – my lettering has been to some wonderful places. I wish I could be there for every shoot, and especially when the locations are as luxurious as Hylands House!

Image credit AJG Photography at Hylands House (5)

Ayshea Goldberg had photographed our shoot there, so I asked her to introduce the venue to us:

Hylands House is a neo-classic building in the heart of Essex and set into formal gardens and parkland – the estate is also the setting for the annual V festival. Outside it’s very grand with impressive pillars and a sweeping driveway that looks fab with a classic car outside.

Image credit AJG Photography at Hylands House (2)

“Inside Hylands House is very opulent and grand with the centrepiece being the banqueting hall.  It’s full of gilt decor and original portraits – and has massive windows that open onto a gorgeous terrace with beautiful views of the park. Couples can marry in the drawing room and then celebrate in the banqueting hall – or for larger wedding parties there is a light and airy pavilion which is perfect for evening parties.
