I’d like to say a special hello to anyone who can see sunshine today! As I type it is cold and rainy here… I’m waiting for the crisp sunny autumn days to begin. Of course, it means I have plenty of time to blog, and to read my favourite wedding and photography blogs. These are my picks from the last week and a bit! Enjoy x

This week has been a creative and thoughtful one in English Wedding Blog land. This week’s best wedding blogs post is therefore full of creative ideas from the blogs I’ve been reading over the last few days. I’m preparing for a wedding fair (as my alter ego, the calligrapher!) and have been investigating the wedding ‘scene’ here in the Lake District. It’s an interesting place to be a wedding supplier… but more on that another time.

Best wedding blogs: real weddings

  • The designers behind Love vs. Design share images of their own wedding. The stationery and details are fabulous… so are the skateboards and other creative touches 🙂
  • Sunflowers and cornflowers for a beautiful late summer wedding in Surrey – this is a beauty (and so is the bride, who doesn’t think she’s photogenic… are you kidding?! Gorgeous!)
  • A very unusual vintage wedding, in a barn in Somerset… with dinosaurs. Beautifully done, and such creative thinking – I like it!

I’m looking for more of the best wedding blogs to follow – so if you have one, know one or love one would you let me know where to find it? Meanwhile… here are my picks from the last week and a bit. One of my favourites is in French, but you can translate it in Google (somehow!) – it’s worth it, fab opinions on wedding tv!

The best real wedding blogs

  • A Stoneleigh Abbey wedding – classically beautiful photography, a gorgeous couple and some great wedding craft ideas. Recommended for dozens of reasons including photography by one of my favourite Cheshire wedding photographers. What a glorious wedding venue for starters…
  • Simone and Sean’s beautiful destination wedding in France… beautiful images, a tangible atmosphere and the romance of the French countryside. Love this! from 100 Layer Cake
  • While we’re in Europe… the grace of this Italian wedding is second-to-none, with photography by the marvellous Ed Peers. I’m a big fan!

Welcome to a bumper edition of what used to be ‘Wedding Planning or Work’. I’ve renamed my regular Friday afternoon feature to Best wedding blogs – or something that really does what it says on the tin. I’ll still be encouraging all of you lovely couples and wedding suppliers to spend the rest of the day soaking up wedding ideas from around the web though – and today I have a bit of a bumper selection for you!

Happy Friday afternoon, everyone! We had a little break from wedding planning or work last week (as my head is all over the place with my house move!) so I assume you worked through the afternoon without a break last week. Which means, I think, that your boss should let you have the rest of the afternoon off. I wouldn’t even bother checking… just drop your pen, and enjoy some of these gorgeous real weddings, and wedding blog posts from the last week or two!

Friday afternoon, and anyone who’s new to English Wedding Blog might wonder what this post is about. An introduction: on Fridays at 2pm we all take at least 10 minutes off whatever we’re doing, make sure our bosses can’t see the computer screens, and surf the interweb for weddingy things. Here are the loveliest wedding blog posts I’ve found online recently – all for you to enjoy.

Join me in a quick ponder? I hear good and bad things about wedding blogs these days – people love the UK wedding bloggers or hate us, and there are some strong opinions out there! There’s no disputing the fact that wedding blogs have changed dramatically over the last two years – and I wonder where we’ll all be in another two.

Once upon a time for wedding blogs…

Following the rise of Style Me Pretty and Ruffled Blog in the US, the first UK wedding bloggers were lone voices with a small, devoted following. Kat, Charlotte and Annabel all used the internet to plan their weddings, and their blogs grew as their fans spread the word.
