The Case of the Curious Bride opened in April 2013 and aims to provide stylish and quirky dresses with a vintage edge. Owner Melanie dreamed of creating a quirky boutique selling reasonably priced wedding dresses with real style. Brides who bought her bespoke head wear at Ivory Tuesday were also looking for unique and affordable vintage-inspired dresses, so The Case of the Curious Bride was born!

This bridal shoot from Cheshire’s Arley Hall features stunning wedding dresses and accessories from The Case of the Curious Bride. Dresses are by Erica Stacey and The Case of the Curious Bride. Accessories are by the wonderful Ivory Tuesday.

Four fab wedding photographers were involved in the shoot: the lovely Martin Hambleton, Andrew Billington, David Stubbs and Johnboy Wilson, all wedding photographers in the north west. Please do have a look at their work if you’re looking for a UK wedding photographer.

Wedding venues have been on my mind rather a lot recently. I see lots of weddings on blogs where the venue takes a bit of a back seat. Maybe it’s the blogs; maybe it’s the magazines too! But there’s a danger that what we see (or don’t see) in the wedding media can mislead us. Don’t let your magnificent, quirky, charming or historic wedding venue fade into the background on your big day!

Bring out the best of your wedding venue with great photography

I had a little chat about venues with my wedding photographer friend Martin Hambleton. He was involved in a photo shoot at gorgeous Arley Hall in Cheshire with three other fabulous wedding photographers, and we asked them all to share their thoughts on wedding venues as well as some stunning images from inside the stately home.

In his email Martin said, “The venue is tantamount to being a guest at the wedding to me!  Couples spend a long time visiting and choosing, and I think they’re done a disservice if the venue isn’t properly used on the day by the photographer.  Especially if it’s somewhere as splendid as Arley.”

Hello my lovelies! I have a treat for you this morning from a gorgeous and creative couple – Jessica and Mike. Their wedding at Thornton Manor in Cheshire is full of little luxuries and special touches. As Jessica herself told me, “the devil’s in the detail” – a nice motto for a wedding, don’t you think?!

Jessica and Mike chose their wedding suppliers carefully and with such a professional team in place they really couldn’t go wrong. A top class venue – Thornton Manor – set the scene. Their photographer is the lovely and talented Martin Hambleton. Flowers, music, scented candles and more combined to make this a truly memorable and special wedding day.

Thank you as well to Martin for sharing images of this wonderful wedding. Do visit his website if you’re looking for a Cheshire wedding photographer – www.hambletonweddingphotography.co.uk

Have you used Pinterest for your wedding planning? I’m wondering whether I should include some of my favourite boards on this weekly* best wedding blogs feature. I’ve been pinning a lot this week and added a lovely new Pinterest button to the blog too! The old one was a piddly little thing which sat in the corner doing nothing, hehe. Anyway – let me know if you’d like more Pinterest boards in here!

Real wedding blogs

Morning everyone, and Happy Friday! I’ve been saving today’s gorgeous Cheshire wedding blog for this morning – it seems to fit with that whole Friday feeling thing. There’s sunshine and romance, and a stunning bride and groom – in fact wedding blog subscribers will recognise Karen and Simon from their wedding highlights film which I was so proud to feature back in January (see an autumn wedding in Cheshire).

I love this quote from the happy couple:

Try to leave yourselves as much time as possible between all the day’s activities to spend with family and friends, after the day those will be the moments you cherish the most.

Karen wears a fabulous dress by Sassi Holford and the day has a purple theme because it’s the ribbon colour for pancreaticcancer.org.uk – a cause very close to the hearts of the bride and groom. This is all explained in the wedding report which Karen and Simon have shared with us today, and you’ll see some really beautiful images from Cheshire wedding photographer Martin Hambleton – with unexpected and wonderful moments captured as well as some magical portraits. I know you’ll love this! Grab a Crunchie (after all, as Wendy always tells me, we should celebrate Fridays in style!!)

Anyone fancy a touch of sunshine this morning? Me too… so in glorious technicolour I bring you this beautiful wedding film from Marry Me Films today. Karen and Simon were married at Cheshire’s Arley Hall in the autumn… cue gorgeous colours and one of those wonderfully crisp autumnal days – perfect for guests to play boules and croquet on the lawn.

Karen wore a beautiful Sassi Holford cap-sleeved wedding dress, and is such an incredibly beautiful bride – both she and Simon look fabulous! One of the loveliest touches from this Cheshire wedding is the Vicar, who married Karen’s parents years before. They were his first wedding ceremony, and he came back especially to marry Karen and Simon – which is such a wonderful story.

There’s much more for you to read about the wedding on Marry Me Films’ Love Heart Blog (thanks Sara – what an amazing story to share) so do pop over there for a look when you’ve watched Karen and Simon’s wedding film here. I hope you love it! Claire xxx
