Discovering little gems of wedding venues around the UK is part of the charm of writing a wedding blog. Mostly, I get to explore the nooks and crannies of beautiful old houses and quirky wedding barns through my screen, when lovely couples and photographers submit their weddings for a feature. Occasionally I get to visit a wedding venue and discover it first-hand, and when those venues are a little too far away from my home in the Lakes I’m lucky to have English Wedding team members dotted around the country who can discover them for me!

Happy last week at work everyone!!! Ahh…. just one week and we’ll all be starting each day with an extra hour in bed, and alternating cosy pyjamas and sparkly going out gear until NEXT YEAR!! I can’t wait… and I have good news! We’ll be featuring some of our favourite weddings of the year over the Christmas holidays so YOU can still enjoy our most fabulous wedding inspo on the blog every day! Oh but first… this week I have some absolute beauties up my sleeve.

Is one of your wedding venue options giving you butterflies in your stomach? One of the biggest wedding tasks is choosing the venue. It can be hard to know for sure when you are seeing the venue of your dreams, with so many beautiful options to choose from! Here are a few simple clues from The Wedding Guide – if you say YES to all of these, you will know when you have found THE venue for your wedding.

If your spouse to be is out on their bike this Sunday afternoon, then this is for YOU! If you’ve both been cycling today and you’re relaxing after an exhilarating day in the saddle, then you’re going to love this more than anything you’ve ever seen on a wedding blog. Natalie and James – who’s a keen cyclist! – had a cycling themed wedding in August, and incorporated some ingenious styling touches into their day. They chose Rockbeare Manor wedding photographer Martin Dabek to capture the day so beautifully! I love the bicycle wheels with foliage on the walls, the table plan with a shelf full of cyclists… actually I love the whole day. And can we skip straight to that cake?!! The beautiful cake was made by Yvonne at Cherry Blossom Cakes and decorated with flowers by Emma at Brompton Buds.

Soooo….. who’s planning to arrive at their wedding venue in a helicopter then? Nope? Hadn’t crossed your mind? It wouldn’t have been on my list either until today’s rather exciting Cotswolds wedding landed on my screen. But oh – what an adventure, and what memories to have from your wedding day!! Laura and Matt really did create an exceptional wedding, with vibrant florals and a stunning colour palette. The helicopter ride makes their day really unique!! Lucky for us, Upcote Barn wedding photographer Martin Dabek went along for the ride and captured every thrilling moment up in the skies with the bride and her dad on their way to the church!
