How to describe this wedding in a short title… yikes: couldn’t do it! Nicky and Martyn will be familiar to many of you from the English Wedding e-shoot week we did in January. Little did I know when I featured one of wedding photographer Mark Tierney‘s favourite engagement shoots that the couple were already married and that their wedding photographs would blow me away.

And yet I checked out the Tierney Photography blog just to see – and I found this gorgeous wedding which I had to blog! Beautiful bride Nicky’s look is out of this world: she mixes classic and quirky in the most incredibly exciting way. Not only that, groom Martyn is gorgeous and the photographs of their wedding day are knock-your-socks-off fabulous with a cherry on top.

This wedding is already a favourite of mine and I know you’ll love it too.

Nicky's quirky alternative fascinator is what first made me gasp out loud. Doesn't she look incredible!

Vintage styled photo of Maria and Tom - beautiful

Would you like a little extra sunshine in your life today? I’ve got some, all beautifully bundled up in this gorgeous wedding full of bright Caribbean colours. Maria’s family had travelled from Trinidad for the wedding, and even booked a steel band to play at the reception as a surprise.

Happily for Maria and Tom, their choice of gorgeous orange and yellow for the flowers and decorations at their wedding more than made up for the Yorkshire skies (which weren’t quite up to Trinidadian standards that day)!

Maria and Tom were married in August in Kirkburton, Yorkshire, and held their wedding reception at Wortley Hall in Barnsley. All of these gorgeous images are courtesy of Yorkshire wedding photographer Mark Tierney.

Father of the bride

Maria's dad looks so proud in every photo - and this is my favourite

Maria looks amazing - a truly beautiful bride with an amazing smile!

So beautiful... English summer wedding with cloudy skies

English weddings… Yorkshire… summertime… I think I went all summer without mentioning the rain, but let’s face it here in the UK we do get the odd shower, we love to talk about the weather and we can always make the most of things.

This wonderful wedding from Tierney Photography has a few umbrellas and hundreds of huge smiles – I love everything about it!

Joanna keeps an eye on the weather and I can't take my eyes off that dress - layers and layers of flowing lace - wow. She looks fantastic.

A contemporary statement photo works just as well to portray a dynamic and stunning bride.

Bride and groom in the English countryside

Bride and groom in the English countryside

I’ve been looking at this set of wedding photographs for days and can’t wait to post them. With this week’s weather and the shots from Joanna and Liam’s wedding I can’t resist mentioning the rain… but it instills a kind of calm and serenity in me at times.

These images from Tierney Photography in Yorkshire are beautiful. The cloudy, misty, swirly skies and the soft tones in the photos are as romantic as the sunniest August day. I love this wedding and I think there’s a lot to be said for the English weather… see what you think when I post the full wedding for you tomorrow.

(I’m posting a preview partly because this is a very busy time for calligraphy and I’ve been burning the candle at both ends… forgive me. But I think this photo deserves a little feature of its own!)
