Tucked away in a luscious landscape, accessible only by boat or footbridge and on its own private island on the River Thames, Monkey Island is pretty unique as far as English wedding venues go.

It’s a secluded hideaway, elegant and (I love this:) ancestral home to monks rather than monkeys – Monkey Island was the perfect backdrop for Max and Marina’s wedding day.

We begin the day in the bridal suite with Marina getting ready for the ceremony – it’s a lovely outdoor wedding with peacocks roaming around the grounds! and the day unfolds with so many glorious moments between the bride, groom and their wedding guests.

My thanks to London wedding photographer Louise Bjorling for sharing this wedding with us today. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

so says today’s gorgeous bride on the English Wedding blog. Fiona had her cast taken off just a few days before the big day – but it didn’t spoil a wonderful wedding day as she married the (also gorgeous!) Toby in London.

So it was bye, bye Jimmy Choos and hello adorable ballet pumps for this bride! Fiona’s wedding report tells a wonderful story – there are certainly tears but the wedding ends in triumph and celebration… in a Covent Garden nightclub!

The beautiful wedding photography is by Geoff Reardon, and portrays this sophisticated wedding day with the elegance and charm regular readers will recognise from Geoff. I’ll leave you to enjoy the story in words and pictures…

London wedding blog (2) wedding photography blog (1) The build up to our wedding was slightly stressful…..I (bride) broke my foot 6 weeks before and it was touch and go as to whether my cast would be off in time, coupled with the fact that the London Riots were two days before and unfortunately the day before our wedding we had to attend my Great Aunt’s funeral. We literally got back from Yorkshire with one hour to spare before our wedding rehearsal and by the time the morning of the wedding arrived, we were just so keen to get married before anything else could happen to us!

Lauren and Pat’s Wedding Highlights from Love Gets Sweeter on Vimeo.

A little something special for today – 3:44 minutes of romance with Lauren* and Pat’s lovely wedding feature film from Love Gets Sweeter. I love blogging wedding films like this – it’s wonderful to sit back, turn my speakers up, grab a biscuit (just to hold) and smile, giggle and cry a bit along with the movie!

Highlights of this wedding film for me (and for you to watch out for):

  • Hubert the dog is so cuddleable
  • the boys cycling their way around London (a bit wibbly)
  • Lauren’s fabulous dress by Enzoani is amazing on her! Properly elaborate and beautiful – and on such a gorgeous bride it looks incredible. Watch for the swishing through the park…
  • Pat’s nerves during the ceremony – he’s so lovely and adorably overwhelmed by the wedding
  • * briefly known as Louise as Pat said her middle name first by accident, or so I understand from the Love Gets Sweeter blog post!

Reportage wedding photographer Mark Carey has shared some lovely weddings with us recently, and Becky and Joel’s day is one of his best: the atmosphere of this wedding really comes across in the pictures. From the excited chaos of the bridal preparations to the solemnity and grace of the orthodox Jewish ceremony and then onto the boat trip down the Thames… it’s a really memorable, individual and fun way to celebrate a marriage.

Becky is a really, really beautiful bride. Becky’s shared her story of the day – and there are some brilliant tips in there for all you brides- and grooms-to-be. So I’ll hand over to Becky to tell you about the day, and to reportage wedding photographer Mark Carey to share the wonderful pictures.

Enjoy. xx

One sunny day in Chelsea, a bride-to-be gets ready with her best friends and closest family. There’s a knock on the door and little feet rush to answer. It’s a man with a camera. Enter reportage wedding photographer Mark Carey, delighted to be greeted by the cutest of cute little girls (that’ll be bride Sam’s adorable little daughter) and set to capture a gorgeous wedding day on camera.

Chelsea wedding photographer blog feature (1)I love the story – in pictures and in Sam’s own words – of this wedding for two things. First it’s just beautiful to look at, one of those where my heart leaped into my mouth when I first saw the images! Second… Sam and Kev did things their own way and created a relaxed celebration, a fun party and a great day for their friends and family. Sam wrote a great wedding report so I’ll hand over to her to tell you all about the wedding day.

Melanie and Thomas were married earlier this year with a reception at Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons, Raymond Blanc’s idyllic Oxfordshire restaurant in the beautiful English countryside.

I’m sharing this wedding day because it’s just the kind of intimate celebration I love. Melanie’s dress is beautiful, perfect for the occasion, colourful and breaks a few wedding rules. Which is great.

Wedding outfits with a difference: Thomas looks great in a grey suit with orange tie and buttonhole. Melanie is dressed fabulously – with a Japanese inspired silk dress, orange floral patterns and a bright bouquet to match.

It’s a colourful wedding so Hip and Funky Photography caught these bright images of a flower seller’s stand to reflect the happy tones of the day.

It’s easy to see why vintage inspired weddings are so popular. There’s something about vintage decor and accessories – like delving into an old treasure chest, finding beautiful sparkly things which aren’t just beautiful but have histories and memories of their own. I think that’s why vintage weddings have such an appeal, and Denise and Luca’s wedding really captured the essence of vintage for me.

Wedding photographer Heline Bekker submitted these beautiful images, taken at Covent Garden’s Kingsley Hotel (for the bridal preparations), then St Peter’s Italian Church and at the wedding reception at Brown’s Luxury Hotel in London. Bride Denise is gorgeous in her halterneck wedding dress and birdcage veil, and Luca’s chocolate brown suit with a classic pink rose buttonhole fit the vintage styling of their day so perfectly.

Matt and Katie - a fabulous bride and groom

Matt and Katie - a fabulous bride and groom

Sometimes there’s just one thing about a wedding that really catches me out, takes my breath away, fires my imagination and sets my heart to spinning around in my tummy – such is the case with this beautiful London wedding.

Matt and Katie were married in September at Lauderdale House in Highgate, London. Their wedding was totally unique to them, and Katie’s dress completely steals the show for me as a wedding blogger… she looks ethereal, beautiful, like the heroine from a long lost romantic faerie tale. I adore the dress, and I love the photographs of this wonderfully relaxed and unconventional wedding celebration.

Katie and Matt make a great couple – you can see from the laughter all around, the loving looks and intimate moments they share throughout the day. The wedding day is inspiring too: a little bit quirky, beautifully elegant and entirely captivating. Enjoy the photographs submitted by wedding photographer Peter Burkwood of Pictures in Pixels.

Flamingoes in London at a wedding!

Flamingos in London at a wedding!

Today’s English wedding is so full of amazing things I didn’t know where to start. Hence the title: yes, there are flamingos in London. Being a northerner, that’s not really surprising, but it’s definitely lovely and exotic and pretty glamorous… which leads nicely on to…

…Colin and Lee’s rooftop wedding in Kensington. Where there are flamingos. And the photographs of the wedding and reception sent to me by wedding photographer Kirsten Mavric are lavish and gorgeous and exciting. Sit back and enjoy them!
