Tucked away in a luscious landscape, accessible only by boat or footbridge and on its own private island on the River Thames, Monkey Island is pretty unique as far as English wedding venues go.

It’s a secluded hideaway, elegant and (I love this:) ancestral home to monks rather than monkeys – Monkey Island was the perfect backdrop for Max and Marina’s wedding day.

We begin the day in the bridal suite with Marina getting ready for the ceremony – it’s a lovely outdoor wedding with peacocks roaming around the grounds! and the day unfolds with so many glorious moments between the bride, groom and their wedding guests.

My thanks to London wedding photographer Louise Bjorling for sharing this wedding with us today. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

I’m really looking forward to getting to know Yolande a little better and to sharing her wedding photography with you via the English Wedding Showcase blog. I hope you’ll join me in welcoming her to English Wedding!

wedding blog by Brett Symes (25)Anthea and Nimish had a perfectly elegant, wonderfully stylish wedding at Dartmouth House in London. An exclusive wedding venue for a couple whose calm, sophisticated personalities fit beautifully with the luxurious surroundings.

I will always believe that weddings should be ‘you’ in that they are a celebration of your own style and personality – and whether your wedding’s held in a tipi or a mansion, you should feel at home. Anthea and Nimish fit this venue like a glove. The wedding photographs by Brett Symes Photography exude the same elegance and style.

wedding blog by Brett Symes (22)“My wedding dress, made of ivory French corded lace, shrug and veil were all by couture wedding designer, Christine Kendall. Christine runs her bridal boutique from New Cavendish Street, London and I loved it because it was as different from the regular bridal shops as it was possible to get. I had several fittings with Christine and each time, Christine was an oasis of calm professionalism, exactly what I needed!

Another real wedding, and this time I bring you: a beautiful bride who can fly. It’s a gorgeous wedding shot by Kat Forsyth, who shot Bianca and Michael’s wedding in Avianto in August. Kat is a sponsor of English Wedding blog – she’s been photographing weddings in South Africa and is coming to live in London from January. All I can say is, get in touch quickly if you’d like Kat to photograph your big day!

The flying bride title comes from a comment the lovely Anneli Marinovich left on Kat’s wedding photography blog. And I have to add, it’s not just Bianca who gets airborne: Michael can jump pretty damn high!

I love this wedding because Bianca very bravely had her long hair chopped just before the wedding. Michael prefers short hair – hence her strikingly beautiful wedding day bob. And I think she looks amazing.

This is what happens when the groom loves drum ‘n’ bass, and the bride doesn’t – a perfect solution to a very common dilemma: your wedding music. Ellie and Lee came up with the most ingenious idea of a silent disco at their wedding reception!

This gorgeous couple were married at The Inner Temple, and London wedding photographer Mark Carey submitted their photos for my blog. I loved every one: their day was fun, loving, sophisticated and family-oriented. And they really had thought of everything!

Ellie wrote the loveliest wedding report for me. My favourite quote from Ellie is this (when I asked about her most memorable wedding day moments): “Seeing all of the groom’s friends dancing to drum and bass whilst his parents were doing the tango on the other side of the dance floor.”

I love it. You will too…

Hi everyone! I have a lovely new sponsor to tell you about this morning: a lady with a passion and a story – wedding photographer Kat Forsyth has joined our little team on English Wedding blog.

Kat is a wedding photographer from South Africa, who specialises in fun, fresh and natural wedding photography with an artistic and creative feel. If anyone’s now thinking, “well that’s a bit of a long way” – Kat has joined English Wedding as a sponsor because she’s moving to the UK in early 2012 and, very happily for English brides and grooms, she’s going to be a London wedding photographer (she’ll be happy to travel anywhere for a wedding, of course!). Which is fab!

I’m only sharing a couple of images with you here: one of Kat’s favourites, and my very own exciting favourite favourite (the one below – fab!)

Welsh wedding by photographer Fiona Campbell (25)This wedding appeals to my love of nature and the countryside – there’s such a lovely relaxed feel to all the images, and when I first saw the wedding slideshow by photographer Fiona Campbell the farm animals were a wonderful surprise!

Stephane and Bianca were married in the Brecon Beacons, at Gliffaes Country House Hotel. Fiona told me, “It had an absolutely sublime atmosphere and the staff were so helpful and friendly”.

Welsh wedding by photographer Fiona Campbell (14)“It was a very special wedding because Stephane and Bianca rented out a hotel in the sublime Brecon Beacons so that all their friends could be together for a long weekend. They filled the country house hotel with flowers and little bowls of chocolates to make the guests feel at home.

Gorgeous London wedding photography by Matt Parry

Gorgeous London wedding photography by Matt Parry

The thing about London is it has those fantastic visual icons: the red phone box, buses and top class wedding venues like One Whitehall Place. We just don’t have quite the same accessories up north! So I do love a London wedding when I see one.

The thing about wedding photographer Matt Parry is his sense of fun and eye for a gorgeous photo and an unforgettable moment. And I love these photos of Avril and Chris’s wedding day.

Avril and Chris are both from Canada. They had a beautiful wedding day with bags of style. I love Avril’s shoes (which match London! … you’ll see!) and the way this couple just smile and smile and smile. And One Whitehall Place is a standout wedding venue: wow.

English groom and best men at a French wedding by Matt Parry

English groom and best men at a French wedding by Matt Parry

Today I thought it would be nice to broaden our horizons over at English Wedding. Just a little hop over the channel, to see a fab wedding by Matt Parry who is a wedding photographer in London.

His little brother Chris was married in France in September and I couldn’t resist sharing the montage of photos in Matt’s slideshow of the wedding day. You can even spot Matt doing a stint on the guitar as beautiful bride Katie walks down the aisle. The music for this slideshow is by The Maccabees. Enjoy!

Matt always has me hooked with his wedding slideshows, not only for the photos but for the great musical accompaniment – it always shows Matt’s style and personality and I’d definitely book him for a London wedding if I was having one!

See more slideshows and wedding photos on Matt Parry’s wedding photography blog. For information and contact details, visit www.mattparryphotography.co.uk
