If the words on the wedding cake (in scrabble letters) don’t make you feel all squidgy inside, then you’re all wrong. This is so lovely – such a personal wedding day, with some magical moments and creative touches – and a stunning bride and gorgeous groom.

I hope you like this intensely personal, Scrabble-inspired, handmade London wedding. Laura and Rich are both teachers and avid readers so what could be more fitting for their wedding theme than Scrabble?

After an elegant ceremony at Asia House, months of planning and lots of hand-made details transformed their reception venue (Icetank) into a shabby chic heaven complete with the wooden chairs, mismatched tablecloths and floral crockery. They’ve traded the traditional first dance for a violin/guitar performance and topped it all up by a flash mob dance surprise performance by the bridal party.

Happy August everyone! We welcome in the busiest month for weddings with a lovely introduction to someone pretty damn special – the fabulous Steven Anthony Photography.

Steven Anthony Photography works around the UK photographing weddings in a sensitive documentary style. I first featured a gorgeous wedding from Tylney Hall back in 2014 – and I’ve seen some amazing real weddings on Steven’s own blog since… I can’t wait to show you more from him over the coming year!

If you love Steven’s photography as much as I do, check him out! He’s based in London but if you’re a little further away don’t despair: he’ll come to your wedding wherever you are in the UK!

“I shoot in a relaxed and laid back documentary or reportage style so you can enjoy your day. I’m very lucky to do something I’m deeply passionate about, and for such great couples. I’m very fortunate that I get booked up early so if you’re planning your big day be sure to contact me, I’d love to hear all about it!

My heart did a little skip into my mouth as I read through Melanie’s wedding report this morning! I always ask couples to tell me how they met, and today’s couple’s story is similar to mine: this gorgeous couple met online, and Melanie told me, “Colin was the only person I sent a message to, one drunken evening of searching for the love of my life!” Funny – I spent one begrudging evening on Match.com and it was the luckiest moment of my life as I found my guy too!

So here is a story close to my heart, as well as a fantastic couple with lots of lovely images of a wonderful wedding day. And what an incredible location: they married on Tower Bridge! Images are by super London wedding photographer Adam Szczepanski of Adam’s Photo Art:

Some weddings instantly grab me as a wedding blogger, and today’s is one of them. Here’s a little secret: it’s not the details which make a ‘bloggable wedding’. Neither is it the bride and groom, or the dress, or the photography, or the venue. It’s everything: all of these matter when I’m looking for a wedding to blog, and the magical ingredient is the atmosphere they create when combined together… it’s like the alchemy of love in weddings!

So when styling and planning your wedding, focus on creating a day you’ll love from beginning to end. Follow today’s gorgeous couple’s example: Miranda and Ronan had a small wedding at Clissold House and their family helped with some of the finer details of the day. Miranda’s dress is exquisite – one of the loveliest I’ve seen! – but their smiles and the atmosphere which shines through the images of their day are what make this wedding so special.

Afternoon lovely wedding blog readers! How many of you are still looking for your wedding photographer, I wonder. For me the photographer is absolutely key to a great wedding: it’s important to find someone who’ll be a pleasure to have around on the biggest day of your lives. Also, many of your memories of your day – in two, five, twenty years from now – will hinge on the wedding photographs in your album. So they should be beautiful…

Speaking of which! Did I mention I have a new wedding blog sponsor whose work I want to share with you this afternoon? I discovered Adam only recently, but we’re already working hard to bring you some beautiful London weddings to show you on the blog! London wedding photographer AdamsPhotoArt creates timeless, luxurious and magnificent wedding images – the kind which stop you in your tracks and stand out a mile from so many wedding photographers’ work. Treat your eyes and have a peek at his website and blog to see just what he can do!

Hey everyone, big hugs all around on this chilly November morning. What are you up to today? Could it be time to book your wedding photographer, maybe? If you haven’t booked anyone yet then I can highly recommend my latest blog sponsor, lovely London wedding photographer Rik Pennington.

Derbyshire wedding photography Rik Pennington photographer (31)

Rik was behind the camera at Henry and Carina’s stunning garden wedding featured here on Monday morning. I adored their wedding – the elegance of their day was second to none, and the photography captures the spirit of everything so beautifully.

Rik told me, “I’m a London wedding photographer with a distinctive and creative style. My style of wedding photography is best described as creative documentary with contemporary couple portraits. Strong composition and an obsession for finding the light are key to my work.”

One of the best things about writing my wedding blog is getting to know people in the industry. As a calligrapher I ‘meet’ other suppliers online, and as a blogger I’ve met some really amazing wedding suppliers from all walks of life. I was honoured to be involved in a ‘quintessentially English’ wedding photo shoot with Fiona Campbell this summer, and I’m delighted to be able to welcome Fiona as a new sponsor of the English Wedding Blog.

Fiona Campbell wedding photography

Fiona told me how important it is to find a wedding photographer you can trust, get along with and relate to. “You need a lovely person to have around you on an incredibly special day and to help make things easy.”

She says, “When you book me you get excellent equipment, insurance, backup and, of course, my lovely personality. My particular strength is helping to reassure people in front of the camera. I always work with a second shooter to make sure I can be in two places at once.

When I read Vicky’s wedding report and saw all her lovely craft ideas I knew I had to feature her wedding to Ross on the blog. It’s just perfect – a very personal wedding day with lots of amazing ideas you can share. I love Vicky and Ross’s style – they describe their wedding as handmade vintage / romantic and the day itself looks fantastic.

Since you’ve been doing a lot of planning and communicated with your photographer well beforehand, your day should run really smoothly when it finally comes. You can relax, and don’t have to worry about what the photographer is doing – If you’ve been meeting up for chats, seen the venue together, shared your ideas and brain storming and perhaps had an engagement shoot to get used to the camera as well, then you should be on the same wavelength about the photography. Here follows a few suggestions on what to think about on your day, to get those shots that you’ve been hoping and planning for:

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely week so far. Today I want to introduce the lovely London wedding photographer Louise Bjorling to you. Louise is the latest wedding photographer to join English Wedding Blog and I’m delighted to welcome her as a new blog sponsor.

I love Louise’s approach to wedding photography. When I asked about her wedding photography style and why she loves her job Louise told me she photographs weddings for the love of capturing people. She finds excitement in looking for moments, thinking creatively and telling your story. I think that’s such a lovely attitude – and it certainly shows in the wonderful images on Louise’s wedding photography website as well as on her blog.

london wedding photographer (8)Chris and Gemma’s engagement shoot in London has a bit of a theme to it: Gemma’s hand is very often in Chris’s back pocket… why? Well, it’s not just because it feels nice! There was one particular occasion when Gemma discovered a little box in there. An engagement ring box…

london wedding photographer (19)

London wedding photographer Anneli Marinovich tells their story: “I had to laugh when Gemma told me their engagement story – Chris had been standing in the little square near their house, when she walked up to him, put her arms around him and blissfully unaware, stuck her hand in his back pocket…only to find a ring box with her engagement ring inside!

“Chris (after recovering from the shock that his proposal plans had changed slightly) dropped down on one knee there and then and proposed to Gemma who of course said yes!  I really enjoyed our afternoon together, exploring Belsize Mews and getting some shots of Chris & Gemma in the actual spot where they got engaged.”
