With every week that goes by I’m more proud of the place where I live. The Lake District is fast becoming England’s very own destination wedding venue – and I’m so lucky to call it home. Today I have a stunning styled shoot to share with you: it’s fabulously creative and breathtakingly beautiful – and so very perfect for a countryside wedding with a modern twist… and a little rowing boat!

Wedding photographer Jo Bradbury sent me the images for today’s inspirational feature. Her photographs are truly beautiful, and capture the warm and welcoming atmosphere of Cote How, a lovely venue near Rydal in Cumbria.

The suppliers who worked with Jo to bring this stylish and creative wedding scene to life include Wild Orchid Flowers, Sugar Ruffles, Daisy Daisy Bridal, Zara Rigg and Pingle Pie – with a full list at the end of today’s feature.

Countryside brides and grooms will adore this shoot. The styling ideas are elaborate on a smaller scale: perfect for intimate weddings in relaxed surroundings. The cake is divine; the stationery exquisite and the flowers are out of this world.

Adventures and discoveries are what life for me is all about. I explore as much in my life outside of work as I do for the blog, so when I can combine both I’m super happy! In August I was invited to one of the Lake District’s most charming wedding venues, The Wild Boar near Windermere – and I’ve been telling people ever since how I’ve fallen in love with the place!

I’d heard so much about The Wild Boar. Wedding industry friends rave about it; the atmosphere is enchanting and all of the surroundings are so cosy and quirky. I’d heard about the wedding showcase there last year and am really excited to go along in a few weeks’ time myself (wedding showcase info) – I’d also heard wonderful things about the venue itself, and I had the loveliest time looking around!

Hello everyone! What do you have planned for this weekend? I’ll be doing a bit of a road trip as I catch up with some lovely wedding people at two gorgeous locations: firstly Storrs Hall is holding an interactive wedding styling event:

A few days ago I spent a lovely hour or so with Julia Tasker at her enchanting bridal boutique and I wish I could have taken you all with me! Julia’s little world – sorry, bridal shop! – is a treat, and nestled in the sleepily beautiful town of Bowness-on-Windermere. She’s only a few minutes’ walk from the lake shore which I think qualifies this gem of a bridal boutique as a day out in itself!

Rails of the most gorgeous designer wedding dresses in the heart of the Lake District

I was there to discuss some secret plans with Julia, to see the gorgeous designer wedding dresses she stocks and to discover the story behind Julia Tasker Bridal Couture. It was such a lovely experience – it’s great to know some of my favourite designers are right here in the Lake District: Sassi Holford, Ritva Westenius and Caroline Castigliano take centre stage alongside Paloma Blanca and Pepe Botella.

I wish I could have taken you with me on Tuesday when I went to visit Broadoaks Country House in the Lake District. Since I came to live on the edge of the Lakes in 2012 I’ve visited a few venues but nothing comes close to the charm of this little gem. Broadoaks Country House is described as “one of the most romantic hotels in the UK” by the AA. The website promises “secluded gardens, a magical beck that runs through our grounds and the Lake District scenery… the perfect backdrop for romantic photographs”. And oh my goodness do they deliver on those promises, with bells on!

A Lake District wedding venue with real charm and unique style

The drive up to Broadoaks Country House is fun (especially in my Mini!) – winding country roads lead from the touristy madness of Bowness on Windermere away from the crowds and into rolling countryside. Broadoaks appears on the horizon and with its green lawn and traditional fountain looks ever so lovely from the very first moment.

Morning everyone! Today’s blog post is a reflective one… long term planning. Do you have plans for your future? Is buying a house next on your list after getting married, or do you already have one? And is it your home for life?

Planning a future together… the dream

I don’t talk much about me on here (the little men in my head are already shouting “booooooring”;) but I’ve spent the last few days in the Lake District where I grew up, and yesterday on the journey home we were thinking – as we always do! – about moving there for good one day.

This is the village I grew up in - photographed from a bench at the top of the hill you can see the sea in the distance. Turn around 180 degrees to see the mountains... it's beautiful.
