Oh, to be a henna artist. Working on Indian weddings would be a dream come true for me. Those fascinating, intricate swirls and squiggles of henna on a bride’s hands always make me shiver in delight. It’s my dream job.

My other dream job is to be a photographer at an Indian wedding. And yet happily I can live through my blog and enjoy all that fabulous colour, sparkle and excitement through the eyes and lens of the lovely Katy Lunsford. Isn’t life brilliant?!

Today I’m sharing Abi and Ajay’s wedding with you. They were married in May last year, at Chadderton Town Hall. Their wedding celebrated family and friends, with traditions taking centre stage throughout the celebrations. The wedding photographs take us from a few days before the wedding with the henna application, through the ceremony and some fabulous portraits of Abi and Ajay at the end of their day.

I hope you love these as much as I do!

If you were here yesterday you’ll remember Ruth and Dan’s wedding day in the schoolhouse at Smallwood Manor – and you may also remember I hinted at the gloriously colourful details and then didn’t show you any.

Ah… meanie! But here they are. Wedding photographer Katy Lunsford sent me so many beautiful photos I had to write two blog posts for Ruth and Dan’s wedding – so you get a whole dedicated ‘get the look’ feature today, all inspired by (and with photos from) Ruth and Dan’s day.

When I need a bit of colour therapy mixed in with my wedding obsession, I know where to go: wedding photographer Katy Lunsford dishes out spectacularly colourful photographs in her very own inimitable style.

This is Ruth and Dan’s wedding, held in April at Staffordshire’s Smallwood Manor. The school is a gorgeous victorian building with its own chapel and set in fifty acres of parkland nestled in the Staffordshire countryside.

Ruth and Dan's real wedding vibrant colours (28)I absolutely adore how Ruth and Dan planned their wedding day – with lots of help from family and friends they created a stunning theme of beautiful colours to brighten up the spring day. The bridesmaids wore different coloured pashminas – an idea I love to bits! – and tables were fun and funky.

I’m sharing Ruth and Dan’s wedding story in two parts because there are so many stunning photos to enjoy. Today sit back and enjoy the wedding story in pictures. Tomorrow, get the look with close ups of all the gorgeous table decorations and details to inspire your own vibrant wedding day.

I can’t stress this enough: if I have one Top Tip to share with brides and grooms, it’s this blog post. Every couple can afford the very best in this sense: luxury customer service costs nothing, special touches make all the difference and the Experience is what it’s all about…

Wedding suppliers also take note – are you selling a product or service, or is your wedding business providing an experience brides and grooms will truly love, remember and recommend?

What you should really look for in a wedding supplier

The very best wedding suppliers I’ve met are those focusing on the experience you’ll have with them. From the first time you hear about them, visit their website, call for a chat or send an email enquiry – look for someone who is enthusiastic about your wedding and delighted to be involved, and for someone who genuinely cares.

Beautiful brideI’m very much in awe of wedding photographer Katy Lunsford right now. I spotted Sarah and Dan’s wedding on Katy’s blog and the beauty of it all – from the colours to the blog itself to bride Sarah – took my breath away.

So I had to give this blog post – which I’m actually feeling really honoured to be featuring on English Wedding – a great title. I got stuck: could I name it after the gorgeous reds and purples, or after Sarah’s incredible dress, or should I focus on the beautifully decorated church and religion or on photographer Katy’s talent for writing the perfect blog feature?

In the end I went with the feelings this wedding evokes for me. The overwhelming beauty of it all, from the emotions and moments captured in the photographs to the details that readers of my blog and Katy’s might love, and take away, and recreate for your own weddings. In a word, this is an unforgettable wedding. Be prepared to have your socks blown off. Both of them.
