Wedding photographers at work: behind the scenes at the Love Bridal Boutique launch

Who’d like to see some funny photos of wedding photographers? I have some. 🙂

The deal is this: if you didn’t see the Love Bridal launch on English Wedding Blog earlier this week, please do check out the North West’s most exclusive bridal boutique, owned by the lovely Emma and Jonny Draper. Love Bridal was launched with the help of 14 great wedding photographers from Manchester and Cheshire in The Best of the North West. You can see my favourite images – one per photographer – by clicking my favourite Love Bridal images.

When you’ve read all about the launch, you can join me to enjoy and have a giggle at the behind the scenes images which were shared by wedding photographers Jonny Draper and Neil Redfern. We’re about to get up close and personal with some of the gorgeous accessories and wedding dresses from Love Bridal – and to see what wedding photographers look like, both in flight and upside down. Seemed just right for a Friday!

The launch of Love Bridal today is something for the wedding industry in the North West of England to really celebrate. While I’m now Norther and Wester than all of the photographers involved in the shoot, I’m still delighted that English Wedding Blog is playing a part in this launch: the way these guys work together is inspiring.

This is a fantastic showcase of the wedding dress designers at Love Bridal boutique:

  • Terry Fox
  • Mia Mia by Alan Hannah
  • Intuzuri
  • Heritage Collection by Balbier Wyatt

It’s also a great introduction to some of the best wedding photographers in the North and West of England. These guys work together and share ideas because they have such different styles and perspectives – who’d have thought wedding photography came in so many shapes and sizes!

I’m more than delighted to be sharing the Love Bridal launch with you today – and there was no way I could save the best for last… so shall we do the best bits first? Oh, go on then…

Love Bridal Cheshire

Emma and Jonny Draper asked their friends – many of the best wedding photographers from the North West of England – to help photograph wedding dress collections and accessories for Love Bridal. Each of the photographers involved has chosen five favourite shots from the day. I’ve chosen my own favourites: one per photographer. (More later!) This is a taster of what’s coming up later today on English Wedding Blog:

It’s an exciting day for English Wedding Blog today – I’m stepping things up a gear with two important blog posts full of gorgeous ideas, bridal looks and wedding industry news…

Love Bridal boutique CheshireSpecifically, I’m going to tell you about the launch of a much-anticipated bridal boutique in the North West. Until today a closely guarded secret known to a very few wedding industry insiders, it’s now official: two of the most popular wedding suppliers in the North West are opening their own luxury bridal boutique!

Love Bridal boutique opens in Cheshire!

Love Bridal is being opened by Emma and Jonny Draper – who’ve both had their work featured on English Wedding Blog before in their roles as bridal boutique manager, make up artist and wedding photographer.

I was so keen to be a part of the launch of Love Bridal because I really admire the way Jonny and Emma work. Their ethos is to share and collaborate with other wedding suppliers: no secrets, no rivalries and a genuine focus on friendship within the industry.

… said the wedding blogger as she tipped the worms out of her tin. But no, I’m not trying to rattle any cages or have a big discussion today. A little while ago I read a really thought-provoking comment on my wedding industry blog post and it really got me thinking. This is a question I was asking myself – and with the help of some great friends I like to think we’ve answered it for you.

Understanding wedding photography prices

Let me start at the beginning. I was intrigued by a blog comment about wedding photography pricing from the lovely Fiona Campbell. Fiona Campbell is a respected London wedding photographer whose work has featured in Vogue and across top wedding blogs. Fiona shoots weddings in the UK and Europe, and her 2012 prices start from £1750 for wedding photography. Fiona commented that many brides and grooms expect to find a top wedding photographer for £1000 – but that often they’re surprised by prices closer to £2000.

This cute hand-drawn card for “Miss Payne and Adam” got me first. Then I fell in love with the sense of camaraderie at Alexis and Adam’s Mitton Hall wedding. The icing on the cake was – well, the gorgeous little cake sculptures which are little adventures of quirkiness all to themselves.

I feel as though I’ve followed Alexis’s wedding planning journey a little, and I was excited to see her wedding day – I’d heard all about the lovely lady from my friend and wedding photographer Jonny Draper months and months ago when we first met.

I admired Jonny’s approach to building his (already successful) wedding photography business around friendships, both with clients and wedding suppliers. Alexis was to become a huge part of that – I’d already seen her with Adam on their cool pre-wedding shoot in Castlefield (featured here too: City Chic engagement shoot). I spotted her at the Mitton Hall Wedding Supper Club on Jonny’s blog, and then she modelled at the West Didsbury Wedding Event in March – I felt as though I knew Alexis already!

Charlotte Balbier engagement blog (15)

I’m way over the top excited about this little blog post. Fabulous bridal designer Charlotte Balbier has announced her engagement to the love of her life Teddy Bedford. Having lived a real life ‘Sliding Doors’, growing up around the corner from each other, Charlotte and Teddy are now going to be busy making plans – quite possibly for a gorgeous winter wedding day.

It’s always big news when someone so popular in the wedding industry gets engaged… there’s a real buzz around Charlotte and Teddy’s engagement and we can’t wait to find out more about their plans over the next few months. This is far more exciting for me than any celeb weddings that might have happened in 2011!

Charlotte Balbier is at the forefront of UK bridal design, with her latest ‘Candy Kisses’ collection a dream of vintage inspired French lace, rose pinks and contemporary styles, slinky red carpet glamour and timeless elegance. I love Charlotte’s designs to bits – and I’m delighted that Charlotte has shared a little exclusive proposal story with English Wedding blog!

A creative wedding day in the heart of the countryside. A beautiful English country house, a gorgeous bride and groom, stunning pictures, even a nod back to the royal wedding (who remembers that one?!) – so I think you’ll really love this wedding blog feature!

This is one of two weddings at The Ashes I have to blog – so if you love this wedding venue, keep watching English Wedding blog!

Ruth and Andy make a great couple and I’m delighted to be sharing their wedding with you today. When wedding photographer Jonny Draper got in touch with me he told me “Ruth and Andy are a gorgeous couple, their wedding had loads of lovely details – one of their ushers had made her shoes for example! (not on a whim, he is actually a shoe designer!)” And that last little comment swung it for me – I had to see more!

Real wedding blog The Ashes Jonny Draper (2)I have all of Jonny’s gorgeous wedding photography from the day here, along with a fantastic wedding report from Ruth. I’ll hand over to the two of them for the rest of the blog post. Enjoy it everyone!

I love Charlotte Balbier. She’s one of the most exciting wedding dress designers in the UK right now, and wherever I turn I see brilliant reviews and a real buzz about her 2012 wedding dress collection.

Speaking of which…
wedding dress blog feature images by Jonny Draper (2)When I blogged the launch of Charlotte’s 2012 Candy Kisses wedding dress collection last month, it was thanks to lovely Manchester wedding photographer Jonny Draper that we got to see so many gorgeous sneak previews of the dresses. Remember – this was a trade launch, so officially (shhhhh…) no one else has seen them yet!

wedding dress blog feature images by Jonny Draper (1)… and guess which lovely wedding photographer, in his own words* whisked a few of the models away for an exciting secret photoshoot while Charlotte wasn’t looking! Jonny – you’re ace!

*not exactly his own words. I read between the lines…

I don’t squeal. I’m calm, collected and simply love being a wedding blogger. No hysterics. So when top UK wedding dress designer Charlotte Balbier herself emailed me I didn’t squeal*. At all.

*I jumped four foot in the air and did a quick lap of the ceiling in my excitement.

Last month Charlotte Balbier did a sneaky peek preview day for her boutique owners of the new 2012 ‘Candy Kisses’ collection at www.greatjohnstreet.co.uk. The event was to give the boutiques a preview into the new 2012 collection and also to have a time to meet fellow boutique owners, relax, chat, network and be spoilt with champagne, yummy canapés and afternoon tea.

Who’d have liked to be a fly on the wall for the event, hey ladies? Tell you what, who’d like to play along RIGHT NOW and pretend we have front row seats for the exclusive wedding industry only event? Hmm?**

**I’m on the edge of my seat, hand in the air shouting ‘Meeeeeeeeee!’

Styal Lodge wedding venue visit in Cheshire

Styal Lodge wedding venue visit in Cheshire - a fabulous venue with a unique perspective... and look at that sky!

One of this week’s highlights has to be my Thursday morning – a glorious sunny day and a trip to a Cheshire wedding venue with an inspiring story and a unique approach.

I will be writing a couple of blog posts inspired by my visit to Styal Lodge very soon, but just for now I thought I’d share these gorgeous photos by Manchester wedding photographer Jonny Draper, who joined us for the morning.

Georgina and her mum Sarah own and run Styal Lodge as a dedicated wedding venue. They’re devoted to the lodge, which they’ve built and nurtured, transforming a piece of land into something very special indeed.

More soon… for now, thanks to Georgina, Sarah and Jonny for a lovely morning in the Cheshire countryside. I hope I’ll see you all again soon 🙂

My favourite image: the bridges in Castlefield are instantly recognisable

My favourite image from this e-shoot: the bridges in Castlefield are instantly recognisable, Alexis and Adam are so into each other (and I love the damp Mancunian in the foreground too!)

E-shoot week has been so much fun – it’s been great to feature something different and I hope you’ve been enjoying the variety! But it doesn’t stop there… today I’m delighted to be sharing Alexis and Adam’s pre-wedding shoot in Castlefield, otherwise known as Manchester’s Official Department of Cool.

Alexis and Adam are a very good looking couple, stylish and a pretty perfect match if you ask me! They’re also up for a laugh and that’s how you should approach your e-shoot. If you’re ready for anything you’ll have a great time and get fantastic photography out of your day.

This being Manchester, it rained. In fact no, it poured. It does. But photographer Jonny Draper says it’s important to him to shoot an engagement shoot when it’s booked, no matter what the weather does – it’s a reassurance for couples that come rain or shine, they’ve chosen their wedding photographer well for his reliability as well as for the amazing images he’ll create with them on the day.
