Who missed storm Desmond last week? Oh, you lucky things! I heard some heartbreaking stories and in contrast some really uplifting tales of heroes in floods (Gareth from Aqua Salon – I’m talking about you!) – and one fabulous story of a wedding which came together against all the odds. This week I’ve been thinking about rain on your wedding day. I know a lot of brides really worry: equally I see some incredibly beautiful images on my Facebook feed (and there were LOTS last weekend!) – so I wanted to share some tips to reassure you all. I asked my recommended suppliers and blog sponsors for their best advice.

Bristol wedding photographer Sandy at Love In Focus:

1. Plan for rain – just in case!

Everyone hopes for good weather on their wedding day but unfortunately there really is nothing you can do about the weather! The good news is that rain doesn’t have to spoil your day if you plan for it and can even make for some really beautiful shots. Don’t worry about your photographer, professional camera equipment is weather sealed and clothes dry!

Hampshire Photographer Jennifer Sinclair knows the venue well. “The Manor House is set in the beautiful picturesque Cotswold village of Castle Combe.  The venue is amazing; such an idyllic and romantic choice of venue for a wedding.

Through the grand entrance gates, the long sweeping drive over the stone bridge, leads to the amazing 14th Century Manor House.  The Manor House is beautiful both inside and out.  With oak framed beams and quaint windows, the bedrooms are perfect for bridal preparations.

The Manor house is set in beautiful grounds and has the most amazing stone steps leading up to the upper grounds which makes an fantastic setting for not going only group photographs but also bride and groom photographs.

Choosing your wedding colours has turned into a fine art – and statement combinations make my heart sing. I love Jennifer Sinclair Photography for her styled shoots, and this latest seaside photoshoot in Bournemouth is right up my street. The colours are divine: rich autumn reds and the most delicate sea blues work so well together!

Jennifer told me, “We decided to do a mini-styled bridal shoot in Bournemouth just for fun.  We teamed up with Lily Waite who did an amazing job on the makeup and hair.  The flowers were just perfect for a winter themed shoot; thank you Lisa from Fleur De Lis for creating the beautiful bridal flowers.”

The blue of the sea, the pale golden sands and the cool stone arches all contrast beautifully with the warmth of Kerry’s flower crown and bouquet. The oak leaves sing of late autumn; the berries and buds add texture. Kerry’s red lippy makes a bold statement of its own and she looks incredible! I LOVE this fearless bridal look!

I’ll never tire of sharing beautiful summer weddings with you… and Laura and Miles were married on one of those amazing, warm and wonderful days with bright sunshine all day long. This is a wedding which sings of summer to me: a fabulous celebration of love in the English summer – and the photos I’m about to show you will whisk you away to gorgeous summer days…

Laura’s bouquet caught my eye first of all: the anemones and roses are such a fabulous combination for summer flowers – and the colours were wonderful. I love so much about this wedding; its classic elegance, the summery colours and the beautiful bride and gorgeous groom – I simply had to share it with you today!

There’s a minimum of fuss to Natalie and Tom’s West Sussex wedding – they chose elegant, understated details and they chose well. Their table plan is simple and contemporary; the flowers are modern and summery; venue styling is subtle and chic. I love everything about their day.

Barn weddings come in all shapes and flavours these days, and Natalie and Tom went for pretty pastel colours with a bright and seasonal style. The menu was veggie (which is awesome!) and guests had plenty of traditional games to keep them occupied after the meal.

Images are by my lovely sponsor Jennifer Sinclair Photography. Jennifer is a Hampshire wedding photographer whose style is romantic, natural and relaxed. Natalie told me, “We loved having Jennifer share our wedding day. She blended in with our day perfectly and all the guests commented on how professional she was… Our wedding photographs were perfect and just what we wanted – she really captured the day.

Timeless and traditional always works like a charm. When Sophie and Daniel were married this summer they knew their day would be elegant and stylish, with pretty handmade touches and delicate detailing. I love the pretty colour scheme of dusky pinks and pastels, the little knitted dolls and the pretty tissue paper flowers decorating the marquee.

Sophie is breathtakingly gorgeous – a beautiful bride who says the day was “a little girl’s dream come true“. Her review of Hampshire wedding photographer Jennifer Sinclair is fabulous: “Not only is her work amazing she is also a lovely, fun, patient person. Jennifer has become a friend who we will always want to stay in contact with.

Jennifer says, “The sunshine in the evening was amazing and I loved the warm golden light of the evening; perfect for a campsite fire outside the marquee.  As a photographer, I love the photographs taken in between to the afternoon and evening reception; the guests are really relaxed and now having fun. One of my favourite photographs is of the three little girls ready to let the balloons go.

Alice in Wonderland is a story of two sides: Tim Burton captured it perfectly and this styled wedding shoot does too. There’s the sweet, innocent, magical fairytale adventure for children, with Alice playing and then tumbling down a rabbit hole to take tea with the mad hatter. And then the darker side of Alice: the threat of the Queen of Hearts, the desperately exciting escape from Wonderland. It all makes Alice in Wonderland a creative and fun wedding theme to play with! But which Alice are you?…

I’m sharing two parts of a styled shoot with you now: the pretty fairytale and the darker side of Alice’s adventure. Both lend themselves to a wedding theme and will appeal to very different brides. The images are by Jennifer Sinclair Photography from a shoot inspired by the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel in Guildford.

I would recognise the bicycle from today’s vintage-inspired shoot anywhere. It belongs to my lovely sponsor Jennifer Sinclair, who is a wedding photographer in Hampshire. I love Jennifer’s facebook feed because it shows how her lifestyle inspires her photography; her love of weddings is truly a part of her soul, and her images are beautiful and unique.

Jennifer got in touch to tell me about a lovely vintage-inspired shoot she’d worked on, especially for brides and grooms looking for a pretty, floral vintage look.

My inspiration for the photo shoot came from a recent visit to Amsterdam and my love of vintage bicycles.  Once home I was on a mission to find my own vintage bike and after a few weeks of searching found my Pashley Vintage bike.  The colours are so perfect for my Jennifer Sinclair Photography branding.

I adore these images – and there are so many more on Jennifer’s blog so you MUST go and take a peek – but first I wanted to share a selection of my favourites with you.

Cinderella is a folk heroine, a character from all of our childhoods and a girl who has inner beauty and strength. She’s no pushover: she is a hard worker, life has made her strong and her future is one of love and happiness. We love Cinders not for her perfect facade but for her story: the rags-to-riches heroine who is kind, unbreakable and whose beauty shines from the inside. Her outer beauty… well, if you ask me that’s called karma. And I reckon there’s a little bit of Cinderella in every bride because we all have that inner strength, don’t we?

Today’s bridal ideas shoot is a romantic take on the story of Cinderella. Hampshire photographer Jennifer Sinclair explains how the bridal ideas shoot came about:

The Folly at Highfield Park made the perfect location for the cinders styled shoot.  Jemimah modelled for ‘rags Ella’ and was perfect to portray a youthful, hard working Cinderella with inner beauty and strength.   I love the softness to the photographs that show Cinderella’s kindness.  With a little magic of the fairy god mother’s magic wand, she hoped the dream that she wished would come true…

This summer is flying by isn’t it?! It hardly seems like a week since I was featuring spring weddings full of cherry blossom and watery sunshine. Soon autumn colours will hit our screens and we’ll all be looking forward to our 2016 weddings… and for those of you who haven’t yet found a photographer, it’s definitely time to make enquiries before your date is booked! Today I’m thrilled to be welcoming a brand new sponsor to the English Wedding Blog. Jennifer Sinclair is a lovely wedding photographer who wrote to me in June and won me over with images from one of her beautiful Hampshire weddings.

I love Jennifer’s passion for pretty details (she fell in love with vintage bicycles in Amsterdam and now has a gorgeous bike of her own, complete with basket!) and love of the romance and charm of English weddings. She told me, “for me wedding photography is a lifestyle choice as well as a profession!
