You don’t need 100 or more people to watch him put a ring on your finger. You don’t need the stress of a wedding table plan, huge corkage fees or to spend your day in a crowd of distant cousins. All you really need is you. Intimate weddings with only a handful of guests are my favourite, and beautiful bride Liz and Richard’s day is simply perfect. Don’t you just love that Jenny Packham dress?

“We looked for Kent based photographers online and after looking through a lot of photography we came across Helen’s website and we knew it was the relaxed style we wanted. We contacted Helen to arrange meeting her at a wedding fayre and we instantly clicked – we knew she’d be great at blending in and capturing our special moments.

When it comes to city chic weddings, I think Chester is one of the very best locations for its unique and charming character… and a stroll through the city is almost obligatory for your wedding album! Gorgeous Verity and Tom made the most of this super location with a 2 day wedding celebration: day 1 was an intimate ceremony and lunch with close family, and day 2 is coming up tomorrow!

An intimate wedding in Chester with Clara Cooper Photography (9)

I do love the idea of an intimate marriage followed by a party the day after… it sounds and looks perfect! I also love the idea of taking the pressure off the main wedding day by having a very personal ceremony first. Verity & Tom got married on a Friday at Chester registry office, followed by a lovely stroll down to the River Dee for some fun portraits with their family and friends and then lunch and drinks in the sunshine!

Day 2 – where the gorgeous couple had a blessing and a fabulous wedding party – will follow tomorrow. In the meantime please enjoy the wonderful pics of their intimate Chester wedding. They’re by Clara Cooper Photography whose beautiful photography you can discover more of here:

Those of you who follow me on my personal instagram will know I’m lucky to live by the beautiful Lake District. My home is one of the most beautiful places in the world and I’d never dream of getting married anywhere else. Andy and Katie’s wedding is literally right up my street – and instantly shoots to the top of my list of weddings of the year. Their day is charming, full of personal touches and still wonderfully down to earth. Oh and Katie is the prettiest bride with such a wonderful smile… you’ll LOVE today’s real wedding.

The colours for the day were kept in line with the Lakeland setting: blues and greens kept the styling consistent, although little decoration was needed. Katie is a keen and talented crafter, and she made 150 metres of bunting to string across the beams of the chapel and reception venue.

I found this article about intimate weddings last month and loved it – so much, that I wanted to share with you all on the English Wedding Blog. Lots of you will know I’d go for an intimate wedding like a shot – an elopement if I could! – and I’m a huge believer in keeping weddings small, cosy and magical. Those three go hand in hand.

Linda Grace Weddings knows what she’s talking about. She’s trained with the UKAWP and now specialises in intimate weddings across Somerset and Devon. Linda makes intimate weddings sound like the best thing ever… and I’m with her all the way! Here are 9 of Linda’s top reasons for choosing an intimate wedding – I agree with Every. Single. One. Do you?

“There are many reasons why couples decide they would love an intimate wedding.  The style can take various forms – from destination weddings, to quirky themed events, or purely a smaller gathering of around 50 guests or far fewer.  One size doesn’t fit all of course, but there’s an intimate solution to fit all couples’ ideas and budgets.

Happy Thursday lovelies! How are you this crisp December morning? It’s a special day (my parents’ wedding anniversary – happy anniversary!!!) and I’m celebrating with a really magical wedding on the blog – I think you’ll love it. I love weddings which are stripped bare of fluff and which focus on the true meaning and reason for the day of celebration.

An intimate wedding by the beach with Chris Randle Photography Durham UK (15)

Don’t get me wrong: I’m a lover of fluff… but I adore romance and I sort of think it’s a responsibility of wedding bloggers not to get too carried away. Today’s wedding is everything it needs to be; I’ve said many times here that intimate weddings are my favourites. All you need is each other – and the smiles on beautiful bride Natasha and her hubby Gareth’s faces are testament to that.

An intimate wedding by the beach with Chris Randle Photography Durham UK (19)

Durham wedding photographer Chris Randle got in touch and I had a proper nosey around his blog – so this wedding is one I chose for an English Wedding Blog feature. It’s beautiful, romantic, and special. I feel so lucky that Chris was there as Natasha and Gareth’s photographer: being able to feature intimate weddings with beautiful photography is such a privilege for any wedding blogger.

Ripley Arts Centre wedding blog Simon Biffen Photography (1)Ripley Arts Centre is a gorgeous wedding venue in Bromley – a charming Victorian house tucked away in London’s leafy suburbs… and with the loveliest gardens you’ll see. I adored Nicola and Chris’s wedding when I spotted it on Simon Biffen’s photography blog. Their sense of style is just wonderful – everything from Nicola’s gorgeous dress and Chris’s suit to their cat, smiles and balloons made me smile!

It’s extra special when a groom answers my English Wedding Blog questionnaire, and Andrew’s story of his wedding to beautiful bride Harriette is so romantic – you’ll love it! Such a gorgeous couple, and creative too: Andrew designed all the stationery, and details and accessories came from Etsy, Ted Baker and David Beckham!

Sorry Andrew… that part of your questionnaire made me chuckle! Love it!

So here’s a fabulous English wedding blog which I know you’ll enjoy seeing more of. The images are by Maureen Du Preez (thanks Maureen!) and words are by today’s rather dashing groom Andrew. Oh! Let’s start with a quote (because it’s a heart-melter…) from Andrew – his memorable moments from the day:

“the moment I turned to see my bride walk in, she took my breath away!!! Also to see my father shedding a tear and the smile on my mother’s face made it so special for me.”

Harriette and Andrew, congratulations and thank you SO much for sharing with us today. Everyone – enjoy! Claire x

Today’s real wedding blog is from the very beautiful Lydia and her handsome groom Lloyd at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts. I fell for their wedding style as soon as I saw the first images of their day. They kept things simple and classy with chic and contemporary flowers, beautiful lace, candles and pretty accessories.

UK London wedding blog images by Amanda Balmain (1)

Wedding photographer Amanda Balmain describes the ICA as having “gorgeous high ceilings, huge windows and elegant white interiors it is a beautiful setting for a romantic, stylish wedding“. It’s a new venue for me as a wedding blogger but looks really lovely. Lydia and Lloyd were impressed as well, and used the venue’s recommended suppliers who they were very pleased with.

Before I share all the images I want to introduce today’s wedding blog with a quote from Lydia which brought tears to my eyes. Talking about the wedding ceremony, she says, “it was as if the world around us did not exist anymore, it was only HIM and ME. Only when we kissed and everybody started clapping did we realize we weren’t alone at all, and everyone who was important to us, close family and friends, were with us.

Smaller weddings are always my favourites! The atmosphere is relaxed and full of love and often an intimate wedding means budgets can be played with rather than stretched – meaning smaller weddings can be creative and fun. Annette and Darren’s wedding on the Isle of Wight is fantastic: their style is exciting and colourful and they’re clearly so very much in love.

intimate wedding photography by Jason Mark Harris (2)

I also adore their big day because they included family in a big way. Annette told me, “our marriage means more to us than the coming together of our couple, it is also the coming together of the two sides of our family“. I think that’s magical.

intimate wedding photography by Jason Mark Harris (3)

Of course there’s also a fabulous cake, Annette’s dress is amazing and she’s such a beautiful bride. The images by wedding photographer Jason Mark Harris are ever so lovely – and Annette and Darren have been kind enough to share their wedding story with us all today. I know you’ll love it!

Hello everyone! Today is all about David and Steph, whose wedding breaks a few of the old-fashioned rules about all the things you ‘have to have’ for your wedding day. This fantastic couple chose one wedding supplier (only!), used kids’ invitations, didn’t have readings, and created an elegant wedding without spending a fortune. I love everything about their intimate wedding in Manchester and can’t wait to share it with you today!

All of the images are by my friend and wedding blog sponsor Phil Drinkwater Photography. Words are by Steph and David, and their story is a very romantic one indeed. I love the ‘marry me’ image, and the mention of David Hasselhoff in their ‘memorable moments’… classic. Enjoy! Claire xxx

Everyone has a strong idea about how a wedding should be: lavish and extravagant is fine if you have the money and it suits your lifestyle. But personally, for me, nothing is more romantic than an intimate wedding with a few guests and some little details to make the day your own. Their country wedding just looks perfect to me: warm and cosy, stylish and really personal. And I absolutely love it.
