So how’s your sunshine today, lovelies? I’m loving this week – it feels like SUMMER!! I can play in my garden and walk on the beach… it’s heaven. Right now I’m working on the next edition of the English Wedding Bible, which we’re publishing in May. If you’d like to be a part of it, get in touch with your ideas for shoots, articles or real weddings we can feature. Today though, we’re all about al fresco wedding dining, herbs and botanicals with a gorgeous editorial from Gaynes Park which was sent in by English Wedding Directory member, lovely Gwenda at The Gilded Fern. She’s here to tell you more!

I may be a floral designer, but I’ve got a major soft spot for plants and foliage! I often include some herbs in buttonholes and cake decorations, so the concept of this shoot stemmed from there. Herbs are often short-stemmed, so I took a little bit of artistic licence in my choices, for the bouquet, which included olive leaf, thlaspi (aka penny-cress), lavender, calendula, chamomile daisies, dill, and mentha. Many of these were also made into leaf and petal confetti.

I have been so excited to show you Lydia and Rob’s wedding – there are some amazing ideas and beautiful images, and I love the venue with the lights strung across the ceiling, their portraits are fab, and there’s a gorgeous night time image of the two of them. The bouquet is pretty as well, with lovely shades of white and yellow for a fresh spring bouquet – fabulous.

So many things made this wedding special and memorable. The main thing was that even though the weather was pretty awful, nothing was going to stop them enjoying their day and having their photographs in the gardens and grounds. They’re such a funny couple and took everything in their stride. The planning had been easy and they were very chilled out about everything leading up to and on the day.

One thing that really marks a wedding for me is the menswear: as a wedding blogger it’s something I look out for even more than the dress. You just know when the guys are wearing something a little more interesting than hired suits, it’s going to be an amazing wedding. Beverley & Jackson – your day is the perfect, gorgeous, brilliant example of the kind of celebration I love!

Today’s stunning bride & groom married at Gaynes Park, Essex. “The venue is so beautiful that it didn’t need much decoration at all. We chose to have some festoon lighting in the barn, which turned out to be a great decision as when we sat down to eat the heavens opened, so the lighting made the room feel cosy and intimate.”

They saved money on flowers: “The biggest saving we made was through our choice of dried flowers. Dried flowers are much cheaper than fresh and it also meant that we could make up the arrangements ourselves.”

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having the most wonderful Christmas! Let’s relax together with a short wedding film this morning, shall we? The very lovely Richard from White Dress Films got in touch to share Sarah and Rick’s wedding film, and I love it!

I love the Mr & Mrs signs – the library as a backdrop for the wedding dress is amazing! This couple have great style… proven by the rows of Converse set out before the wedding begins. They’re for the groomsmen, and are always lovely to see!

Sarah looks amazing and Rick is her perfect match. This is a magical, emotional wedding with inspiring styling – it has everything. Be inspired by their style – ice cream cones and bunting, colourful converse, pink roses and wildflowers in jars on tables. The table plan with hand cut letters, and the photo wall with ready-made quotes. The end of the wedding film is lovely, the romantic lighting just makes you want to see more! By White Dress Films

Yay! Today’s full of pretty. I have a gorgeous photo shoot to share with you – the styling has “a vintage feel without being overdone, just a hint of vintage, as it seems to be a trend that is not going away” – these being the words of accessories designer Charlotte, whose designs feature in the shoot.

I agree. A couple of years back it seemed vintage would be a wedding trend like any other, but it’s most definitely here to stay and you know what? I really love the chic elegance of a vintage wedding theme. Which is why this inspiration shoot is right at home on English Wedding Blog. I hope you love it as much as we do!
