I’ve been busy recommending photographers I love to my friends who are getting married this summer – and everywhere I see couples are booking wedding photographers even for their weddings in 2017… I guess it’s that time of year. Which is perfect, because I like to think of myself as a matchmaker: I see a LOT of wedding photography and I want to help you hook up with amazing photographers for your wedding. Which brings me to lovely Liam Smith Photography

Gail and Mark’s Tythe Barn wedding was submitted by wedding photographer Martin Beddall. Gail wrote a short wedding report to go along with the pictures, and I’m going to leave the wedding photographs to tell their own story. Because they do – all on their own.

Martin is a documentary wedding photographer in Sussex and a friend and sponsor of English Wedding blog. His focus is on capturing moments during your wedding day; his talent is in recording your wedding day in the most beautiful way. There’s rather an unusual ‘part two’ to this blog feature coming up tomorrow.

Please forgive me for a little lapse in brand new blog posts this week – if you saw yesterday’s post you’ll know why. In the meantime – brainwave – I am sharing real weddings via my friends and sponsors from the English Wedding Showcase. Last Sunday’s wedding at Nutfield Priory hotel near Redhill, Surrey for Anya and Mikey …and their son, Leo, not to be left out of the action, he crashed the vows! A great, fun, laidback couple ( they met at Glastonbury ), I posted their engagement shoot – in the Dragon’s lair, a few weeks back – and the wedding was a fun, happy day, with Leo grabbing as much attention as the bride and groom!

It’s why I love a story so much, it’s why for me, wedding photography which focuses on the moments is so very special – and I hope the beauty of these images will show you as you plan your own wedding day that the things you buy don’t matter so much… it’s all about the love, and the day itself.

So, here we have it: following on from yesterday’s real wedding blog post, this is the happy ending to Adela and Toby’s wedding day story. Enjoy!

Adela and her wedding bouquet by Martin BeddallHow do you imagine your wedding day? Perfect – well of course. It will be! When you picture the day in your mind do you see events, or accessories? Will your wedding day be a constant flow of amazing moments and memories or a display of all the things you’ve found to create a pretty ceremony?

You’re imagining the first glimpse of your fiancé aren’t you? Turning around the corner into the ceremony room or glancing down the aisle – or perhaps he’ll wait and turn to look into your eyes when you reach his side. Because it’s beautiful moments that make a wedding day: the precious memories you create together.

This is why I love wedding stories. This is why the most important thing to me is the love. This is why I imagine you’re reading the English Wedding blog. This is why I’m showing Adela and Toby’s wedding today – it’s all about the love, and it’s everywhere in this wedding for you to enjoy. The beautiful photography is from documentary wedding photographer Martin Beddall.

I’m back with another wedding story for all you lovers of documentary wedding photography out there – brought to you by English Wedding sponsor Martin Beddall. This wedding day at Clandon Park in Surrey is simply lovely: a beautiful bride and her handsome groom marrying in an early eighteenth century manor house in the Surrey countryside.

Who says a wedding day told in pictures isn’t as rich a story, as inspiring as all those gorgeous details we’re used to seeing on wedding blogs? Katy and Paul’s wedding day is full of its own little tales: Granny Mollie’s Fish Pie is an intriguing name from their wedding table plan. The venue they chose for their wedding has a fascinating history. There are smiles and laughter here, surprises and quiet moments, as the tale of their wedding day unfolds through your eyes and the lens of documentary wedding photographer Martin Beddall. Take a minute, scroll down a little and enjoy the journey:

Claire and Nick chose the gorgeous setting of Kew Gardens for their wedding and were blessed with glorious sunshine for their elegant celebration.

Claire chose a simple theme with pure white hydrangeas to complement her flowing wedding gown, which is a stunning white dress with a jewelled, plunging neckline and exquisite back detail: the loose back of the dress makes for a ‘Greek goddess’ designer style with the backdrop of Kew completing the naturally elegant feeling for the day.

Documentary wedding photographer Martin Beddall submitted these beautiful images for the English Wedding blog. I love them: Martin’s informal reportage wedding photography style means there’s a relaxed feeling to the pictures.

With reportage wedding photography the focus is always on you and the story of your wedding day, as told in fleeting glimpses of emotions, key moments and the enjoyment of the occasion. Martin Beddall is, for me, one of the best.

I love that wedding photographers are compiling show reels and slideshows of their favourite weddings of the year – it’s great to sit back, feet on my desk and watch so many gorgeous wedding photos fly past my toes!

Kevin Mullins‘s favourite wedding images from 2010… so far (as he still has two December weddings to shoot!) is beautifully constructed, a real showcase of his best bits.

I admire Kevin’s documentary style photography for the genuine emotions he captures: real, loving hugs, smiles and tears of happiness, laughter and pride, nervousness and excitement from brides, grooms and guests alike.

Enjoy this wonderful compilation and watch out for my favourites: the little girl and boy with a whistle and a tambourine, the bell ringers in church, the outdoor jenga on its way down, the gorgeous bride skipping down from a vintage bus…
