My best friend from school gets married next weekend and I really can’t wait for the day. It’s going to be all kinds of amazing! 🙂 I love that they’ve chosen to have a spring wedding: there is something enchanting about this time of year, don’t you think?

Visually, spring is just so beautiful. Blossom is all around; seasonal bouquets include lovely tulips, anemones and muscari (some of my absolute favourites) and your venue’s gardens will be starting to burst into life. You may be lucky enough to find a carpet of bluebells or even primroses for your wedding pics, and in late spring there’ll be wisteria-covered walls and beautiful magnolias creating the most colourful, natural backdrops for your portraits.

Weddings in spring always have a feeling of freshness and new beginnings.  The backdrop will usually be spring flowers scattered on the ground, a slight chill in the air, and soft afternoon sunshine.  Suppliers and venues are gearing up for a busy season, and the first few weddings of the year are wrapped up in the excitement and anticipation of so many new opportunities to make a wedding day extra-special.” ~ Carol Elizabeth Photography

Romantic college courtyards steeped in history, a series of charming locations around one of England’s proudest cities, a truly beautiful bride and groom – today’s wedding is more than perfect. Elly and John had a wonderful summer wedding in the heart of Oxford, keeping the best traditions and adding their own special touches to personalise their day. I love this!

“We had a ‘first duet’ instead of a first dance (my husband on trumpet and me singing), and we were done by 8pm which meant that those who wanted to travel home could, and those who wanted to stay a little longer met with us at a river-side pub for a convivial couple of hours to reflect on an amazing day!”

Kate and David’s wedding is beautiful, perfect… the dream summer wedding at a venue I know is a pretty special place (my cousin was married here!) – and they have the loveliest images to remember it by, from John Mottershaw Photography and with my friend Carol Elizabeth Photography as his second shooter on the day. “We ended up having 2-4-1 on the wedding day as John brought in Carol as an extra pair of hands, so we were very lucky! They both fitted in so well with the guests and you barely noticed they were there snapping away.”

“We were both so pleased when we came across Charlotte’s boutiqueShe was completely different to other boutiques. We sat down while we filled in a questionnaire like what was my budget and what sort of designers I liked etc. and then I just started trying on dresses that she would pick out for me. She would then use the feedback I had on certain dresses to then pick out the next dress. Until finally I found the one! I knew it was perfect from the moment I tried it on.”

Seeing all of your table plans fascinates me: I’ve already decided I’d be on the Prodigy table for this one… although the choice is fantastic! Nonetheless today’s is a celebration where music really mattered, and it sounds as though the band playing at Stacey and Roger’s festival wedding outshone any of the famous names on the table plan! Today’s is a fab theme, and a gorgeous autumn wedding: I hope you love it as much as I do!

Carol blended in with the wedding guests and captured fantastic photos of them all enjoying the day. Although the posed and group shots are beautiful and just what we wanted, some of our favourites are those where people are blissfully unaware of her presence! She captured so many magical moments that we missed throughout the day.”

“We found the vinyl templates online and made everything else ourselves. It took a bit of time but the end results were definitely worth it as our guests commented that they’d not seen anything like it before!”

Carol’s style of wedding photography is informal, natural and enjoyable but also unique to each couple. “I get to know my clients ahead of their day so that they are relaxed in front of the camera. I am based in Oxfordshire and love the range of beautiful venues in my home county – from stately homes to barns, old hotels to boat houses.”

I am more classical than contemporary or quirky, and a lot of the day is reportage photography of the day as it unfolds. I feel it’s important for the bride and groom to have some beautiful and natural portraits after the ceremony as well as plenty of informal images capturing the guests and venue.”

Gorgeous bride Madeleine worked hard to make place settings, while her sister helped with the wedding flowers, her mother made the cake and Chris’s mother made miles of bunting which was beautiful and hung from the beams. She told me, “You can hand-make various things, but that doesn’t save very much really, and the big expenses are unavoidable – food, alcohol etc. As my mother would say – ‘elope!’… The handmade bits were certainly hard work, but they were also some of our favourite elements.
