Every wedding photographer has a portfolio. I’ve seen hundreds. They rarely stop me in my tracks… but Adam’s did. I’m usually a wordy person… if anything, I waffle. When I saw Adam’s portfolio I was stunned almost into silence and this: “Your portfolio is a knockout, I love it.” Eloquent, aren’t I?! But you’ll be speechless when you see it too

Adams Photo Art is a London wedding photographer whose style can be described as “natural” photography with fun – and his images are beautiful. Adam says, “I chose to shoot weddings because I am a people photographer, and I love the wedding vibe. People are at their best, and all want to be photographed – I feel like a kid in a candy store, what else can you wish for?

On your wedding day, the location of your photographs will probably be limited to your venue or somewhere nearby, but for an engagement photo session, the world is your oyster.”

What a wonderful little bite of truth from wedding photographer Adam at AdamsPhotoArt. You spend weeks choosing your ideal wedding venue which will form the backdrop to all of your photos on the day. There’ll be gardens and furnishings to suit your personalities, but any venue might lack variety… so when it comes to your engagement shoot you should choose somewhere with as many aspects and characters as you can dream of!

May-Ling and Matt suggested Richmond for their romantic engagement shoot because it’s one of their favourite places to visit. Adam says, ‘It’s the perfect setting for a romantic stroll – with its quaint cobbled street, riverside walks and beautiful gardens. We walked down to the riverside to take some photographs, I took some photographs as they walked round the riverside chatting, occasionally stopping to look out at the passing boats.’

My heart did a little skip into my mouth as I read through Melanie’s wedding report this morning! I always ask couples to tell me how they met, and today’s couple’s story is similar to mine: this gorgeous couple met online, and Melanie told me, “Colin was the only person I sent a message to, one drunken evening of searching for the love of my life!” Funny – I spent one begrudging evening on Match.com and it was the luckiest moment of my life as I found my guy too!

Some weddings instantly grab me as a wedding blogger, and today’s is one of them. Here’s a little secret: it’s not the details which make a ‘bloggable wedding’. Neither is it the bride and groom, or the dress, or the photography, or the venue. It’s everything: all of these matter when I’m looking for a wedding to blog, and the magical ingredient is the atmosphere they create when combined together… it’s like the alchemy of love in weddings!

So when styling and planning your wedding, focus on creating a day you’ll love from beginning to end. Follow today’s gorgeous couple’s example: Miranda and Ronan had a small wedding at Clissold House and their family helped with some of the finer details of the day. Miranda’s dress is exquisite – one of the loveliest I’ve seen! – but their smiles and the atmosphere which shines through the images of their day are what make this wedding so special.

Afternoon lovely wedding blog readers! How many of you are still looking for your wedding photographer, I wonder. For me the photographer is absolutely key to a great wedding: it’s important to find someone who’ll be a pleasure to have around on the biggest day of your lives. Also, many of your memories of your day – in two, five, twenty years from now – will hinge on the wedding photographs in your album. So they should be beautiful…
