Individual, fun and full of colour and personality - a real wedding at Nyland Manor (31)

The colourful, happy vibe of Lucy and Steve’s wedding is just how I’d imagine the perfect wedding to be. Perfection isn’t about colour palettes or a theme, it’s not even about the day running to schedule or being stress free: the perfect wedding is one where everyone is smiling from beginning to end, where the dancefloor is full, where the best memories are unplanned, unexpected and all the more amazing for it. Today’s gorgeous bride Lucy and super handsome groom Steve show us exactly how it’s done…

We made up the flowers ourselves! This was one of my favourite parts of the wedding prep! Our venue didn’t need much decoration but the marquee did! We did this all ourselves, with help from work colleagues, friends and family. We made almost everything! Table centres, the favours, extra bits that went around the venue! I loved doing all of this.

Danielle and Andy’s wedding is the prettiest floral celebration I’ve seen – with fabulous peonies and the prettiest pink details, it’s wonderful inspiration for a classic summer celebration. I adore Danielle’s hair – her loose plait with tiny flowers is so, so beautiful – I hope you love this wedding as much as I do!

We decided on peony and roses in pink shades as we loved the romantic look and feel of them. We wanted the flowers to compliment and fit in with the venue, so had the floristry done through Narborough Hall Gardens, who grew and arranged all our flowers. The flowers were part of what made the day for us as they were so beautiful, with candelabra and teapot displays, amazing bouquets and a beautiful willow bower and flowers lining the aisle in shepherd crook jars.

Baby, it’s cold outside… but you know, I’m still loving snuggly jumpers and sneaky hot chocolates and evening cuddles… winter has a spirit all of its own and I’m in no hurry to see the end of these chilly, beautiful days. But I’m biased: I’ve been completely and utterly won over by today’s gorgeous winter wedding inspiration. The word wonderland was made for the beauty you’re about to see… a combination of a luxe winter wonderland with a hint of silver, fluffy cotton candy, and geode crystals.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I hope you have something lovely planned for this evening… and to keep your hearts full of love and happiness I have a wonderfully romantic and beautiful day to share with you this afternoon. I LOVE this wedding – gorgeous couple Louise and Tom are absolutely perfect for the English Wedding Blog with all their fabulous flowers and such stunning portraits by Kathryn Edwards.

“I bought most of the stuff myself… mainly from Hobbycraft, Etsy or Not on the High Street. I was introduced to Elinor Softley who has her own business in decorating weddings and she was an absolute life saver! She completely understood the theme and ideas I had for the day and couldn’t do enough for us. I don’t know what we would have done without her as she dressed the venue by herself on the Friday and helped to take it down on the Sunday! She is amazing. Her company is fairly new, but she is so talented! It’s called Soft Touch Events and you can hire lots of cool things from Elinor…I think I hired pretty much her whole warehouse!

When lovely Jessy Jones got in touch to show me Tom and Natalie’s day I was so excited – honestly, their day is just so pretty and perfect to share with you here. The bride and groom are gorgeous: the flower crown is super sweet and I LOVE the daisies – I hope you will too! Oh, and did I mention the awesome golden dinosaurs? 😉

“We didn’t really have a theme – we wanted the wedding to reflect us both. Flowers were a big part of our wedding, particularly daisies and roses, with zombies, dinosaurs and mermaids thrown in!

Throughout the wedding planning I was most certain about what style of bouquet I wanted and I knew I needed to get the right florist to get the look I wanted. When I met Sharon at a wedding fair I knew she got what I wanted. We had several meetings – I changed my mind several times but we got there in the end. Out of everything I was so excited to see what my flowers would look like – I was not disappointed: the flowers, the flower crown… everything was perfect. Sharon was absolutely lovely as well. I would recommend her to anyone – she really goes above and beyond to make your day perfect. www.sharonsflowerhouse.co.uk

Hello there lovelies! Today we have a classic English wedding full of bright florals to inspire autumn and winter brides. I love the vibrance of the flowers, and beautiful bride Ruth is just stunning, don’t you think?

We were at 4 different locations for Ruth and Kieran’s wedding, which offered lots of variety for their photos with some really amazing backdrops. I started at the rented house, which was very quirky with plenty of character. We then drove over to the church wedding ceremony in Abingdon, which is a lovely bright church, quite modern with plenty of space for all the guests. And a really lovely vicar, who was so helpful and accommodating to ensure we had plenty of lovely photos for Ruth and Kieran to remember their day.

Today’s gorgeous real wedding is all about beautiful bride Leigh and her gorgeous groom Karl, their minimal, elegant wedding with a divine bouquet, fabulous stationery and the most breathtaking coastal location you can imagine. Oh, and it’s hard to believe this is true, but they married in November. Just look at those endless blue skies…

Alexa Poppe's gorgeous images of a beautiful Talland Bay wedding in Cornwall (27)

We chose to get married at Talland Bay Hotel http://www.tallandbayhotel.co.uk. We looked at a few other venues around Cornwall but Talland was the perfect fit for our small wedding. It is a stunning Cliffside boutique hotel. We booked the whole hotel for 2 nights allowing our guests to travel down from the West Midlands and have plenty of time in Cornwall.

Alexa Poppe's gorgeous images of a beautiful Talland Bay wedding in Cornwall (21)

Talland is such an eclectic mix of paintings, pictures, ornaments etc that we didn’t need to style the rooms at all. I added the flowers and a few decorations around the fireplace only. We chose not to have a cake, but we did have delicious desserts and a Cheese Board at the end of the Wedding Breakfast.

Lauren and Aaron’s wedding is so beautiful – and as hydrangeas are in season for most of the summer months, there are some wonderful ideas here for weddings from June through to mid autumn which I think you will LOVE!!

Gorgeous pastel hydrangeas at the Tythe Barn, Tetbury - images by Rachel Jane Photography (8)

Our wedding flowers were hydrangeas. A very talented friend of the groom’s family arranged all the flowers from centre pieces to bridal bouquets. They were absolutely stunning and all fitted perfectly in the wooden boxes made by the father of the bride.

The venue doesn’t need much decoration as it is so gorgeous already. However I had a few things that I had in mind to make it our own. We scattered jars wrapped in hessian and lace with candles and flowers in them around the venue. My dad had made some big letters spelling out the word LOVE which I put on an old step ladder which I had painted up. To match our centre pieces I had bought two apple crates from applecrates.co.uk which were both personalised with our names and date of the wedding on. We used one for our cards and one had a gorgeous flower arrangement in. Finally, all our guest know we both have a massive sweet tooth, especially the bride! So I made five different types of cookies and had a little cookie bar set up throughout the day.

I love that Kate Halfpenny’s latest stunning collection is inspired by the hedonistic club scene of 1970s New York. I adore the name – Standing on Stardust – I mean, who wouldn’t love to wear something from this collection, to BE that girl. And I adore the breathtaking shape and style of these unique, bold and intricate dresses and separates. They’re eye-catching; different; so full of character and unafraid to stand out; make a statement and truly shine.

Halfpenny London‘s new collection is an intoxicating celebration of intricate beading and powerful silhouettes. Bold heavy duchess satin trousers are teamed with a provocative structured corset; embroidered silken bees adorn the neckline of an open back silk organza top whilst skirts are embellished with dreamlike feathers and sequin details. Kate’s unrivalled knowledge of fabrics is showcased in her use of sumptuous silks, exquisite laces and incredibly detailed beading and embroidery.”

I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing people over the last year. The shoots I’ve helped out with have been spectacularly creative days thanks to some wonderfully talented suppliers. I wanted to introduce you to some of my very favourites, and the first of those is lovely Katie from Made In Flowers.

Katie is as friendly and generous as she is talented in floral art. She’s styled moss-covered vintage chairs, archways and trees as well as making the most stunning floral arrangements and bouquets for every season. Her flower studio is a little gem in the Lake District: watching Katie assemble a bouquet is a dream and a delight.

For our artisan wedding inspiration shoot, which featured on Love My Dress in November, Katie’s flowers were full of autumnal charm. I adore the asymmetrical arrangements with those divine dahlias, chocolate cosmos and fabulous textures of berries and leaves. The statement hydrangea in the arrangement Rachel holds in the header image of the English Wedding Blog just makes my soul happy – and the little pops of colour throughout the day are thanks to Katie’s vision and incredible talent.

So many of our wedding trends begin in the US. We fell in love with ranch weddings, escort cards, and then calligraphy – big time – which is brilliant! But sometimes I stop, and I wonder why on earth we need that American influence when English weddings are so incredibly inspiring. Take today – Leah & Alex are just sooo stylish; their venue has aeons of history and character to it, and the day looks to be the most amazing party…

“Leah & Alex were amazing to work with. From the first meeting at my local where they’d come all the way from London I knew we were a perfect match. To return the favour I went down to London for their pre wedding shoot at Kew gardens; they had their first date there, got engaged there and as well as the PWS the wedding theme was all about the gardens. I knew after taking those photos in sweltering June sun (You can see them here http://www.vickerstaffphotography.co.uk/kew-gardens-london-pre-wedding-portraits/) that they were going to be a dream to photograph…… I was spot on.

“Claire and Rick are just the loveliest people, we got on like a house on fire straight away and spent a lot of time together during our first meetings and engagement shoot which i think just made us so comfortable we were more like friends.

The day being at the AMAZING Bowes Museum was probably the highlight for me, as a photographer working there is just brilliant as it has so much character and beauty it made creating lovely images easy peasy!”
