Welcome to Monday everyone! How was your weekend? I hope you’re staying safe and well with everything that’s going on in the world right now. As ever, I want English Wedding to be a beautiful distraction, an escape from the day-to-day and a little reminder that normal life – and love, and weddings! will resume in time. Today’s is Billy & Bessie, whose outdoor wedding at The Swan Hotel in Bibury sings of summer days and love and laughter. The bride and groom are gorgeous, the day is moments of love and magic, and the setting is insanely beautiful – the word “quintessentially” was invented for this place! Bessie told us overall the day was just perfect – “the best day of my life!!!” and for me today scrolling through Sam Bennett Photography‘s gorgeous images of their day has been an absolute joy.

Everyone’s been talking about eco-friendly and sustainable weddings recently. So is it a “trend” or are green weddings here to stay?
What makes a wedding eco friendly or sustainable?
By definition a wedding or event is eco friendly if there has been no harm or negative impact made to the environment. In reality it means to use services and suppliers that are conscious of the impact any product they use can have on the environment. They will have taken steps to eradicate these or have a plan in place to offset any negative effects. This can be done for example by donating to tree planting schemes or helping with local environmental projects if you have needed to use fuel for a car journey or similar.
Morning lovely! Today we have a family-oriented wedding which is as beautifully styled as can be. Gorgeous bride Laura married her love Billy at the Saddleworth Hotel, Oldham. They involved their twins in the day, with daughter Eva reading a poem for the ceremony and bringing a tear to everyone’s eye – the family pictures are some of my absolute favourites. Styling touches are kept simple and elegant in white with foliage detail, and the stunning photography is by Jo Bradbury.

I LOVE a local wedding! Living on the edge of the Lake District is a dream. We’re there every weekend exploring the mountains (and valleys, right now!) and the landscape never fails to take my breath away. Needless to say, it’s my favourite place for weddings and so sharing Jen & Alex’s day with you today is soooo exciting! Most of all I love their day for its relaxed and elegant vibe. Beautiful bride Jen’s dress is non-traditional…. stunningly slinky with a daring thigh split and incredible back detail, it’s by Atelier Pronovias. Alex looks fantastic in chinos and a classic white shirt (because suits are NOT a rule…. or if they are, they’re the first rule to break! I love this look!) The gorgeous couple chose a few of my favourite suppliers for their day: lovely Helen Jane Smiddy was their photographer; Kevin from Brackens of Bowness (“the unofficial god of flowers”) provided their amazing florals, and talented Charlotte of Sugar Ruffles designed their gorgeous wedding cake.
I’m in love with today’s wedding. I’m in love with Gilly’s sparkly beautiful dress; I’m in love with the styling details and the story of Gilly and Den’s day. I’m in love with the gorgeous photography from lovely Hannah Larkin…. this is all just so wonderful and I have been ever so excited to share it with you! Before we dive into all the images though, I want to share something important with you.
