Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Whatever your plans, I hope you have an amazing, loved-up, romantic and special day. (Or – if Valentine’s isn’t your thing, I hope you still have an amazing, loved-up, romantic day… just because it’s Saturday and why not 🙂

I couldn’t imagine anything more perfect than an engagement shoot to share with you today. Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest of the year – I can almost hear questions being ‘popped’ all over the country – so if you’re brand new and shiny engaged today, congratulations!!!

I had an interesting email in my inbox this morning… now obviously most of you are engaged so I’m late with this… but tell me: did you propose to your guy? Or if he hadn’t, would you have popped the question?

Because our survey says… [family fortunes voice, Les Dennis era]… most of us think women should propose. (and reading between the lines, only 30 – 35% of us think men should!??)

Which is a little odd, I think. But hey! Odd is my favourite kind of survey! Tell me more!…

Sometimes the theme comes first, sometimes the colours inspire a wedding theme… and sometimes, both work together like a dream. Today I have an elegant, chic combination of yellows and blues – the almost obligatory colour for a nautical wedding style. It’s fabulous…

Historic Docklands wedding styled shoot by Caroline Nicholson Photography (31)

Lovely Caroline Nicholson Photography got in touch when I asked for images of wedding bouquets on Facebook, and we were soon chatting about styled shoots… I loved this nautical wedding styled shoot she showed me and simply had to share it with you today! The venues are spectacular: HMS Gannet is a lovingly restored Victorian naval ship, and Commissioner’s House is Britain’s oldest surviving naval building dating back to 1704. Both are incredible backdrops for today’s styled shoot – and would be amazing for a nautical wedding!

Hey everyone! I need your help today, as I’m searching far and wide for a lovely person to help me out a little behind the scenes at the English Wedding Blog. I don’t believe in interns (I wouldn’t work for free so I don’t expect anyone else to!) so I’m looking for the right person to spend just a couple of hours a week helping me with social media for the blog.

And… wow. Today’s wedding is stunning, divine, delicious and designer. Beautiful bride Saoirse wears a genuine 1960s style vintage wedding dress and looks incredible. William’s suit is Savile Row – and everything you’re about to see makes me so very proud to be a UK wedding blogger – this is just ridiculously gorgeous, and amazingly creative and personal!

Idea of the day: non-bridesmaids. Genius… I’m always a little conscious of ‘uniforms’ at weddings and Saoirse’s idea of her best girls bucking tradition is right up my street. She told me, “They wore what they liked. We didn’t want matching outfits for anyone although they all had matching wrist corsages from the florist.”
