Happy Monday lovelies! I hope you’ve had the most wonderful weekend. Today we have so much inspiration for you – I like to kick off the week with something really stunning to inspire you, and today it’s extra special… with a lovely team of wedding creatives showing you how to make the most of an outdoor space with fabulous florals and elegant styling – without breaking the bank! Flower walls have been a huge trend, but can be ridiculously expensive. Today we share an incredibly creative alternative – look carefully at the backdrop! Lovely Vanessa, wedding planner from English Wedding Directory members Rocks & Frocks, shares her inspiration with you.

There’s something about today’s beautiful wedding which captures the essence of the English countryside so perfectly… it’s in beautiful Dorset, with a quaint church (St Marks, in Talbot Village) and a lovely reception with the prettiest details – paper fans on the wall in shades of gold, and adorable little commemorative pins for all the guests!

Camila is absolutely stunning; Victor looks gorgeous. The love these two share is captured perfectly in the images by our friends at Linus Moran Photography, who are based in Dorset, close enough to the Kings Arms Christchurch to be regular photographers there – and who come highly recommended for their beautiful documentary wedding photography as well as their professionalism and friendliness. Rachel, Wedding Co-ordinator at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, is engaged to be married to Peter in May 2019. Rachel spends her day advising other brides and grooms on how to make the most of their special day, but now it is her turn. Follow her journey, trials and tribulations, as she shares her experiences from the other side…

There are so many different elements that go into the creation of your perfect wedding, and choosing where you will get married is only the beginning. As soon as the venue is confirmed, the next step is to fill it!

All couples will organise themselves differently, but I advise my clients at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa to keep track of everything in a spreadsheet, or within a series of lists (or a mixture of both!). This is a great way to keep on top of what has been done (and paid for), what still needs to be arranged, deadlines, timelines and keeping track of costs! Although I encourage my clients to be as organised as possible, sometimes it is easier said than done and Peter and I have spent the past months working our way through our “things to book” list, and going back and forth to even make the tiniest decisions. We still have a long way to go, but it feels amazing when you get some of the finer details set in stone – and achieve that satisfaction of ticking something off the list.

I couldn’t get married without live music – it’s just a very personal thing, and if you’re a music lover you will totally get what I mean. Whether you love jazz or pop, indie, swing or soul, you’ll know that the buzz of a live performance is uniquely and beautifully suited to a wedding – so imagine booking your venue, only to be told you can’t have live music… it would be heartbreaking.

Before you book your venue, music lovers, here are 5 essential questions to run through with your band and your wedding venue. This article is a collaboration with the most experienced wedding musicians we know – Down for the Count have performed at well over 600 weddings in the UK and internationally, and at a huge range of venues. They say whilst the vast majority of venues are well suited to live music, they occasionally come across one that isn’t. Here are their 5 essential questions to ask your wedding venue  before you book!

Beautiful bride Polly and gorgeous groom Jon married at The Ivy Chelsea Garden – a vibrant space for a couple who are just bursting with personality. Their day is a breath of pure joy – the relaxed and intimate celebrations are all the more stunning for the spontaneous laughter that breaks out in occasional images, and I just love seeing the expressions of the entire bridal party – it’s a day which is filled with happiness, and beautifully captured by lovely Jonny Barratt Photography. Oh, and it’s totally convinced me about veils. Veils are ahmaaaaaazing…

Stylish, relaxed photos is what we wanted and Jonny delivered 200%. Despite the dining room being intimate he managed to almost go unnoticed (in the nicest way possible) and still deliver an amazing result.

We both felt quite anxious about having a camera on us all day but Jonny was discreet and the nicest person we could have asked for. Everyone commented on how great he was.

I’ve seen about 1% of beautiful Northern Ireland – we have friends in Newcastle, and the tiny section of coastline I’ve seen is just wonderful. I’d love to explore more. Luckily via the blog I can… because today is one of the very best celebrations of love I’ve had the pleasure of sharing on English Wedding! Let’s escape to magical Dunluce Castle, on the northernmost tip of County Antrim, for gorgeous Emma and Simon’s breathtaking and romantic elopement!

The couple got ready together at home then went to Dunluce castle ruins for their ceremony. Emma wear’s a dress from Wtoo by Watters, and Simon’s jacket is from The Wedding Centre with trousers and shoes by River Island.  Emma’s bouquet is by Penelope Flowers. Some of my favourite shots are from Ballintoy Harbour, where the newlyweds headed to catch some last beautiful images before sunset. Photographer Luke says they had to climb a few fences and got a bit muddy but it was worth it – I couldn’t agree more!

Today’s wedding is gorgeous – elegantly styled with white flowers and tons of foliage, and with a delicious cake table and genius Jack Daniels & cigars table too! I’ve never seen this idea before and I love it so much. But the best thing about today’s wedding is the smooches and the love between beautiful Kayleigh and Stephen. They’re clearly so head over heels in love they’ve completely forgotten about the camera – and it’s such a joyful thing to see!

Images are by my lovely friend Kathryn Hopkins, whose photography you’ll see all over my wedding calligraphy website as well as in the English Wedding Bible (have you got your free copy yet?) Kathryn told me Kayleigh (who is her niece) “really is one of the loveliest people you could ever meet. She just cares so much about everyone and is so authentic and honest.” I think that beautiful personality shines through the pics, don’t you? – and I wish them both a lifetime of happiness.

Happy Tuesday everyone! This week is flying by – I’m normally good at getting blog posts ready well in advance, but today I’m flying by the seat of my pants! I blame the sunshine… haha! Now I know you’re going to love Alex and Scott’s day. The styling is beautiful in rose gold and dusky pink. The images are stunning – they’re by my lovely friend Camilla Lucinda Photography – and there’s a wonderful story which you’ll see from the pics in a sec. In short, this wedding has absolutely everything: Alex is soooo gorgeous and Scott her perfect match – I’ll let the happy couple tell you more!

We bought a lot of decoration for our venue, I loved the soft fairy lights look so our venue was covered in micro LED lights, it was so magical! Our tables looked stunning – we had rose gold sequin table runners, with mirrored plates and LED candles. We also paid extra to have a starlight back drop behind the top table which looked amazing! We struggled to find rose gold table numbers so we bought plain ones and spray painted them in a sparkly rose gold. We also spray painted our ‘no phones or pictures on social media’ picture frame and arranged for a design to be printed to be displayed in our venue.

How was your weekend? I’ve been working away quietly on calligraphy projects for the summer as well as a very early walk in the mountains on Saturday morning… blissful! I love it when Mondays don’t feel like work though… and today with beautiful Sahiti and Nitin’s wedding on my screens I feel happy, joyful… I really do love my job!

Glorious colour and beautiful gowns for a real wedding at Ragley Hall, images by Clive Blair Photography on the English Wedding Blog (25)

This gorgeous pair had two ceremonies in the Great Hall at Ragley Hall, a stunning country mansion set in thousands of acres of its own estate overlooking unspoilt Warwickshire countryside. Their civil ceremony was held in the morning, followed by a traditional Hindu ceremony in the afternoon. As I’m sure you’ve guessed, there are so many wonderful details from Sahiti’s beautiful henna to her classic white lace dress, and there’s the most wonderful air of celebration throughout the entire day – if you could capture the warmth, joy and love of a family celebration in one series of photographs, ladies and gents this blog post would be IT!

When planning your wedding, you’ll inevitably develop a carefully curated checklist of everything you want and need for the big day. From something old and something blue, to the perfect table setting and of course, the cake, a wedding is unlike any other event.

One of the most important factors to consider is the venue. The perfect location will provide you with beautiful photos, all the right facilities and a setting for the day you have been dreaming of. However, it’s important to remember the criteria will differ slightly depending on the season. The summer months bring a unique set of requirements to consider, such as air conditioning, outdoor seating and summer refreshments.

The experts from Rivenhall Oaks, an Essex-based wedding venue, have provided a list of 10 things for the perfect summer wedding venue.
