Happy Sunday lovelies!! As I hang up my bridesmaid dress from last weekend and wait happily to see all the pics from Jean & Marco’s wedding, I’m still loving seeing all the new bridesmaid styles coming in for 2019. Kelsey Rose are one of our fave collections – their bridesmaids’ dresses are feminine, youthful and fresh with summer brights and delicate floral prints for a new era of bridesmaids.

My favourite thing about this new collection is the muted colours: the softest coffees and the palest dusky pinks are so on trend for the coming wedding season. Kelsey Rose combines dazzling new metallic and lustre fabrics with delicate pastel colours so your bridesmaids will sparkle and shine on the dancefloor too! The new floral print on luxurious crepon, exclusive to Kelsey Rose, is an exciting addition to their floral chiffons.

Texture is highlighted in new fabric combinations of crepe and lace for a tactile feel. Lace and tulle combine for a beautiful bridesmaid collaboration perfect for summer. The 2019 collection from Kelsey Rose defines the modern bridal party: a celebration of love and friendship.

For so many of us, having a dog is the same as an extra family member and for many, it only seems right that they would be part of their big day. But there is a lot to consider when it comes to having man’s best friend walking down the aisle with you. If you feel like you can’t tie the knot without them, there’s a number of steps you can take that will help keep your dog happy on your wedding day – and if they’re involved, that has to be the most important thing! The team at Rivenhall Oaks, a bespoke wedding venue in Witham, share their tips for how you can incorporate your favourite canine into your big day.

Consider your dog’s temperament

Before making any decisions you need to determine if the venue allows for pets- Rivenhall Oaks caters for dogs so you can bring your furry companion along for your special day. Remember to only have your pup come along if you think they will enjoy it! For puppies or mischievous dogs you may want to consider having them present at the ceremony but keep them at home for the reception with a dog sitter. Alternatively, you can always incorporate your furry friend in a different way by having them feature in your engagement photos!

Tucked away on the edge of the beautiful village of Cranborne in Dorset, set back far enough from the road that it becomes a treasure, a beguiling location, is 10 Castle Street. The name is wonderfully deceiving – while there’s definitely a Castle Street running through the village, and the venue’s driveway leads from it, this is no run-of-the-mill residence. Number 10 Castle Street is a fabulously quirky and charismatic wedding venue, available for wedding hire and perfectly suited to an eclectic, elegant modern wedding.

Our lovely friend and English Wedding team member Linus Moran is a Dorset wedding photographer, perfectly placed to capture real weddings at 10 Castle Street. Today’s photoshoot shows – in glorious images – how a historic and enchanting venue like 10 Castle Street can inspire your wedding style. Linus brought this wedding photoshoot to life with fellow Dorset suppliers The Rose On The Cake, Sass & Grace, and West Dorset Wedding Flowers.

Hey gorgeous! Pop your sunglasses on – it’s about to get awfully bright in here!

Today’s wedding inspiration could have turned out very differently. It’s the first shoot Rachel from Rose Petals Vintage has created, and we love the vibrant colours – but that wasn’t the plan to begin with! It all began with one word: vintage. But that’s not so easy to define!

Surely by vintage I meant a tea length dress, with a vintage hairstyle and pastel colours right? Wrong, I used the word vintage thinking it was easy to explain, quirky, a little alternative – and because I knew I would be doing a vintage hairstyle and wanted a vintage dress. It wasn’t that simple. Although I have a passion for vintage fashion, hair and design, I also like bright colours not usually associated with vintage. I love peacocks, and I love the countryside. So the styled shoot I had imagined morphed into something quite different once I had seen the many different things on offer!

Morning lovelies! Are you feeling a little chill in the air today? Autumn is coming… and here on English Wedding we’re racing ahead and bringing you a ski and snowboarding themed wedding! Gorgeous bride Hayley and Matt describe their day as a ‘family celebration après ski party’ – inspired by how they met. 7 years ago, these two were working for a ski company in France, where they met. 5 years later, this is where Matt proposed (on a surprise holiday back to Les Gets). The ski resort theme continued at their DIY wedding in Bedford, with multi-coloured hats and sunglasses as favours, welcome cocktails – even the Save the Dates and invitations were designed as lift passes!

As the great hall was just an empty school hall it all needed decorating including the stairs and entrance hall.
We used fake snow EVERYWHERE, hung snowflakes , built a ski rack and piste map stand (table plan), hung gondolas from the stairs, had drapes from the balconies, uplighting on the pillars, photos and piste maps of places we have been over the walls, different tables (sweets, mountain post box, memory table), snowboards and sledges with lanterns on the top of the stairs and finally a sign post in the entrance.

Approach any wedding creative with an idea for dramatic and beautiful styling, and they’ll be your best friend forever. There’s something especially exciting about working with darker colour palettes, dramatic contrasts and an alternative wedding look which we all love. I was thrilled to be asked to create stationery for this breathtaking styled bridal shoot with Jo Bradbury Photography last year. It’s one of my favourite collaborations of all time and I’m so excited to be sharing it with you today! Jo has an artfulness to her photography which I absolutely adore. We’ve featured her beautiful weddings on the blog before – she works across the north west, photographing dreamy celebrations in a romantic editorial style.

The shoot has already been featured in the beautiful Unveiled magazine – you can still buy previous issues here – so you may well have seen some of these pics in print already. If you haven’t, then this will be a treat for you today! As much as I loved writing the calligraphy pieces (gold ink on black textured papers is my fave!) it’s the flowers and cake which steal my heart.

Good morning, beautiful! How are you on this rather chilly October (!!) day? And can you even believe it’s properly autumn now? I know I can’t… but the best thing about autumn is all the fabulous weddings I’m seeing from lovely couples and photographers all around the country. This has to be the best time of year for wedding blogs, and I feel so lucky! Keep the submissions coming, guys!

Today we have an extraordinarily beautiful wedding, with stunning bride Amy and gorgeous groom Gerard, from Iscoyd Park. Lovely Michelle from Elegante by Michelle J submitted this one, and Gerard and Amy have completed a brilliant interview telling us all about their day. Images are by international award winning wedding photographer Paulo Santos – who captures every moment beautifully and gets a glowing review from the happy couple!

Happy Sunday my lovelies. It’s been a whirlwind of a week here at English Wedding HQ, and I’m quietly looking forward to a normal, unexciting, basic Monday full of admin and gentle blogging. How about you? Today I wanted to take a moment to share some of my favourite posts from our lovely friends and blog sponsors the Hampshire Wedding Club. If you’re getting hitched in or near Hampshire, then please do check them out – they’re a wonderful bunch of talented wedding creatives who’ve joined forces to inspire your best day ever.

I’ve been reading Frances Moore‘s tips about hiring a make up artist for your wedding. Some of us do, some don’t… and if you’re undecided, here are some thoughts which might sway you. It’s a lovely read and really got me thinking! Should you Hire a Makeup Artist for your Wedding?

One style of wedding music we’re seeing explode in popularity is the authentic rock ‘n’ roll wedding band. We’re not talking Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, or The Killers here, we’re talking about the original pioneers of the genre – the Elvis Presleys, the Buddy Hollys, the Little Richards – the legends who blew away the stuffiness of the post-war era with their tumbling piano runs, slicked-back quiffs and jaunty, jangly guitar riffs.

Arriving on the back of the vintage wedding trend, rock ‘n’ roll wedding bands are simply perfect for pretty much any wedding scenario: their smart retro attire and quirky style fits in beautifully at historic venues and boho, festival weddings alike; they’re a hit with every generation (often throwing in a few more modern tracks for the youngsters) and their music is just perfect for dancing to!

There’s a surprising diversity of old-school rock ‘n’ roll wedding bands out there: from purists who only perform the originals to those who relax the rules and throw in “modern” stuff by the Beatles, the Kinks and the Rolling Stones, not to mention bands who stray into related genres like blues, rockabilly and swing.

FRIDAY!!! Lovelies, I have to confess I wrote this yesterday because I’m at A WEDDING!! My lovely sister in law is about to get a HUSBAND – in about two hours time – so I’m all bridesmaided-up and heading to the church as this is published!! There’ll maybe be real life wedding stuff on my Insta later (or possibly real life tipsy stuff, which might be equally entertaining!) so if you’re not already following @englishwedding on Instagram, today’s probably a good day to start!

I wouldn’t leave the blog empty for you though, oh no – and happily I have an absolutely stunning wedding to share with you, submitted by lovely Hannah at Casey Avenue. Laura and Josh were married at The Lost Orangery, a stunning venue tucked away in rural Wiltshire. I love how this place is almost hidden from the mainstream wedding industry – it’s a self-catering, super luxurious, exclusive use wedding venue with a beautiful cloister, archway, portico, boat house, orangery and ballroom to call your own. You’ll find it on www.uniquehomestays.com where it’s described as an “exclusive manor house in Wiltshire is a spectacular wedding venue certain to impress wedding guests by exuding a special blend of grandeur, heart and soul” – which sleeps 4, with room for 250 wedding guests and carriages at midnight!

Happy Wednesday my lovelies!! Would you like to join me in reminiscing over the stunningly sunny summer we had this year? Today I’m sharing a beautiful styled shoot that local suppliers to The Secret River Garden in Twickenham created in the summer months. The shoot is based on a DIY location (and the Secret River Garden is just perfect for this!) to show what a bride and groom who are looking to create an outdoor wedding in a stunning garden setting can do!

This is affordable, pretty and eclectic wedding inspiration for everyone. By using a couple of statement pieces (the cakes from Naomi’s bakehouse and Johanna Pedrick Flowers bouquet are just STUNNING!!) it’s easy to create a wonderfully pretty wedding display – and do get your guests to help out with a little baking if you’d love to create a dessert table like this!! Stylists Gemma from Mrs Jones Tea and China Hire and Jenny from Mrs Myrtle Events used vintage china in soft pastel colours with some bold props and natural elements to create a pretty English picnic wedding suitable for those long summer days by the river or in a garden.
