Quirky old clock face

Quirky old clock face

I spotted Sarah and Ally’s dedication ceremony on the TP Photography website a week or two ago, and loved the striking images of their day. I also love to post something a little unusual from time to time.

This was a dedication ceremony rather than a wedding, but Sarah blew me away with her fantastic red wedding dress, and Ally looks fantastic in full Scottish attire: kilt, sporren, the lot. Enjoy!

A dedication ceremony can be held for many reasons: as a vow renewal, or to have your civil ceremony blessed by a vicar if you weren’t married in church the first time. The idea is to dedicate your marriage to God.

Just a quick little post from me… it’s time to share a little English Wedding love.

I would very much like to embrace the notion of guest bloggers and audience participation – I should have done it a long while ago. But as I watch the other UK wedding bloggers out there with their teams and helpers and co-bloggers, I know English Wedding could be so much more amazing with your help.

And I’m inviting everyone. Photographers, wedding businesses, brides, newlyweds, passers-by… share your real weddings, news, launches and opinions – I would love to make English Wedding a place where hundreds of weddingy people have a voice.

English Wedding is the wedding industry blog, and the wedding industry has thousands of people in it. So let’s share. If you have a story or anything you’d like to see here, this is how to get involved with English Wedding!

I think we’re there. I think the UK has caught up with the US as far as wedding blogs go. I could name about fifty, and those are just the periphery of what’s out there. We have a thriving wedding blog scene and it’s one to be proud of!

And do you know what? I reckon wedding blogs in the UK live up to our reputation, the whole ‘Cool Britannia’ thing, pretty damn well.

While the US has Martha Stewart and Style Me Pretty, the Broke Ass Bride and Ruffled, we also have our leading lights, and they’re way cooler!

Blogging is all about sharing, I think. I love to find gorgeous real weddings, beautiful accessories, exciting details and fantastic wedding suppliers online, write about them and share them with you.

Only problem with English Wedding? Bit wordy. I write a lot of comments, share opinions, rave about stuff I really love. If you’re on the go, browsing for inspiration, the last thing you need is me wittering on.

To the rescue – one of my favourite sources of wedding blog inspiration: I. Wed. Style.

Featuring snippets of the very best wedding blogs, written from within the UK, I Wed Style simply shows the best bits of all the top blogs. Each blog post has one picture, and a few words – often in rhyme, no less! So browse the pictures, find something you love and click – it’s that simple.

Bride and groom in lamplit garden

Bride and groom in lamplit garden - this has to be my favourite. Wow!

Time to introduce Gloucestershire wedding photographer Jonathon Watkins to everyone today – and I hope you enjoy his photos as much as I do! Beautiful bride Sian and Leyton were married at Hatherley Manor Hotel in August.

Jonathon told me that Sian and Leyton picked a very rainy day to get married, but he caught my attention with these wonderful words: when life sends you rain, put up the umbrella and make beautiful reflections…

Beautiful bridal shoes

As Sian was getting ready, Jonathon took these pictures of the wedding shoes and tiara (below) on a glass table top. Talk about beautiful reflections...

Bride and groom Newcastle skyline

On top of the world!

This Newcastle wedding instantly made me think of ‘On top of the world’ as a title. As well as the amazing shot from the hotel roof in Newcastle, the romance in the photos is tangible and it shows that bride and groom Liz and Steven had the best day of their lives.

This wedding was sent to me by Simon Hudspeth, a Newcastle wedding photographer based in Durham. Simon works alongside his wife and marketing genius Alison, who told me how much they loved shooting Liz and Steven’s wedding.

The photos are an astonishing mix of contemporary cityscapes and romantic old cobbled streets, with views of the Tyne bridge and Newcastle’s Black Gate (part of the castle).

bridal party in pink

I love the colours in this shot, and the super cool poses from the bridal party.

Olly and Louise came all the way from Australia and were married at The Great Hall at Mains in Lancashire this summer. I spotted their wedding on wedding photographer Jonny Draper‘s blog and couldn’t resist… Louise is a gorgeous bride, Olly’s so handsome, they make a striking couple and every photo is perfect.

Plus there was the llama, which had me in stitches…

I’m doing it again… a preview of tomorrow’s real wedding to tantalise your wedding appetites. This time I’m also playing with you, quite unapologetically.

Why? Well let’s see… this wedding has a random llama, a reverse confetti attack, loads of romantic photos and blasts of exciting colour plus a glitterball.

And until tomorrow folks, that’s all you get. ‘Cos I’m mean (and reeeeaallly busy!)

Making a wedding ring - celtic designI’m happy to welcome a guest blogger today: Leigh Maher is an expert on high quality jewellery and I asked for his advice on choosing the perfect wedding ring.

The idea of choosing a timelessly beautiful ring that you’ll wear for the rest of your life is a little daunting… but Leigh has some great advice to share.

How to choose the ideal wedding ring

You will wear your wedding ring every day of your life – in a sense, it will become a part of you, and it will always symbolize your love for your partner. Finding the perfect ring is worth a little time and effort!

Many brides-to-be spend a lot of time dreaming of the ultimate engagement ring or wedding band, but, sometimes, they can be unsure about exactly which ring to choose. Often, buying impulsively can lead to regrets.

Many brides and grooms end up “upgrading” years after their ceremonies, because their rings aren’t quite what they wanted them to be. For the smartest brides-to-be (or grooms-to-be!), research and planning are used to ensure that the first wedding ring purchased will be worn and loved forever.

So beautiful... English summer wedding with cloudy skies

English weddings… Yorkshire… summertime… I think I went all summer without mentioning the rain, but let’s face it here in the UK we do get the odd shower, we love to talk about the weather and we can always make the most of things.

This wonderful wedding from Tierney Photography has a few umbrellas and hundreds of huge smiles – I love everything about it!
