reportage wedding photography Cheshire by Phil Drinkwater

I’ve made a new friend. Wedding photographer Phil Drinkwater sent in Emma and Tom’s gorgeous Cheshire wedding to feature on the blog at the beginning of September. I followed it up with a wedding inspiration board and we got chatting. I’m absolutely delighted to now welcome Phil as a new sponsor of the English Wedding blog.

reportage wedding photography Cheshire by Phil DrinkwaterPhil – thank you for your support and a huge, official welcome from me! It’s lovely to welcome you not only as a sponsor of the English Wedding blog but also to have your contribution as one of the Wedding Experts here on the blog.

I really recommend that you check out all of Phil’s gorgeous wedding photography on English Wedding – there’s so much to see!

Yesterday I shared Andrea and Richard’s classy wedding in Cheshire. They were married in July and despite the rain it was a beautiful celebration: not least for Andrea’s stunning halterneck wedding dress and the inclusion of their adorable little son and the cutest EVER bridesmaid and flower girl.

wedding blog by cg weddings photography UK (1)I saved lots and lots of gorgeous images of the wedding reception for you. A deliciously sophisticated garden wedding reception, this blog post is full of ideas for styling your day – as well as the usual collection of beautiful wedding photos to make you smile and dream of your own wedding day!

By the kids’ area. Enjoy the grown up photos of the party below – as ever, beautifully captured by Cheshire wedding photographers cg weddings. And then let’s go and have a peek at the kids’ tent, shall we? With bunting, flowers, games, treats and a selection of exotic creatures and creepy crawlies, it’s brilliant inspiration for entertaining children at your wedding. You’ll love it…

I wish two things. I wish it was still summer, and I wish I could step into this wedding blog feature and be a part of Andrea and Richard’s wedding day. This is a beautiful celebration, with a very distinctive and classy look to it. Andrea’s a stunning bride and her dress is just perfect – and quite different to any I’ve seen recently.

Despite the rain, the photographs from the wedding are so full of happiness and brimming with emotion. Liam Crawley of cgweddings was their wedding photographer, and together with his wife and partner Bee has created this beautiful collection of images which they’re sharing with English Wedding blog readers today.

Wedding photographer Hannah Beatrice got in touch with me to share something a little different – and as you all know, English Wedding blog is definitely into anything that breaks with convention! So this shoot is here as an inspiration and idea for any brides and grooms out there who, for whatever reason, might choose to have a photo shoot the day after their wedding.

For Jess and Si, the reason for choosing a day after shoot instead of on the day wedding photography was so they could ask their friend Hannah to be a bridesmaid for the day. Usually Hannah goes to weddings with her camera, being a professional wedding photographer! So to make sure everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing wedding day, they agreed to don their wedding finery again the day after for this photo shoot.

I also love that bride Jessica is an illustrator and designed the stationery for the wedding – I’ve included images and a link to her facebook page below. You’ll love the designs, they’re fab!

Morning everyone! I thought I’d start the week by getting away from it all with this wonderfully different and personality-filled Scottish wedding. Who’d like to join me and get away from it all for five minutes? Come on… you’ll adore this.

Yes – my little wedding blog likes to explore further than the English borders, and this is an irresistible celebration I absolutely had to share when my friend and great wedding photographer Jonathon Watkins got in touch.

It’s remote – wedding transport for the day included the ferry and a tractor and trailer. Footwear was wellies and hiking boots. The scenery is spectacular, the images stunning and the entire wedding day so perfectly created around the charm of the isle and its ruined castle.

Days to Go: 195

It’s a double wedding fayre weekend this weekend!

The first wedding fayre I went to was at my ceremony venue, the local church. It was amazing!

I’m not sure if I enjoyed it more because I was chatting to people directly involved with our wedding (the vicar, the church flowers lady) or if it was because they had a mock wedding, but it really was the best wedding fayre I’ve been to! (And I’ve been to a lot!)

Thanks to visiting this wedding fayre, we have now found out we can afford a floral arch over the entrance to the church! A bargain £40 above the doors! I thought a floral arch was going to be an extravagance we wouldn’t be able to afford. I’m over the moon that we’re actually going to be able to have one!

I have also been converted to the ways of the wedding magician! I’ve never been a fan of wedding magic, but after meeting Magic by Mark, he was just amazing!

I love Charlotte Balbier. She’s one of the most exciting wedding dress designers in the UK right now, and wherever I turn I see brilliant reviews and a real buzz about her 2012 wedding dress collection.

Speaking of which…
wedding dress blog feature images by Jonny Draper (2)When I blogged the launch of Charlotte’s 2012 Candy Kisses wedding dress collection last month, it was thanks to lovely Manchester wedding photographer Jonny Draper that we got to see so many gorgeous sneak previews of the dresses. Remember – this was a trade launch, so officially (shhhhh…) no one else has seen them yet!

*not exactly his own words. I read between the lines…

I blogged a very creative photoshoot earlier in the week – a little adventure I loved being a part of! It wasn’t a bridal shoot, in fact it was like nothing I’ve ever blogged before. But the process of doing something different was just brilliant.

But why would I post something so bizarre on a wedding blog? (I hear you ask!)

I think we’re all here looking for inspiration in one way or another. Brides, grooms, wedding businesses – creativity is important. Finding something new shouldn’t always be about the latest tiara design. Sometimes it’s about taking inspiration from something unexpected. That was the message I wanted to share.

Whether it worked for you or not (and please, do tell me if you’re getting married in a red cape now), I have some more ideas to share on creativity – for brides, grooms and wedding suppliers.

Inspire your wedding

  • could you learn a new creative skill in the run up to your wedding day? Anything from calligraphy to card making, jewellery design or dancing can be a great confidence booster, a lovely way to relax and useful for your wedding planning (or first dance) too!

The scene for today’s wedding blog post is The Manor By The Lake. The tone of the day is beautiful, cheeky and fun. The bride and groom are Dawn and Gavin, very much in love and all smiles from beginning to end.

I shan’t waffle: I’ll leave you to read and enjoy.

I haven’t written a wedding business advice post for a little while – but over the last few weeks I’ve been helping friends with business advice here and there, and I thought I’d share with you today.

Every time I’m asked for advice about running a wedding business, I think, “I’ve been through that”, and it means I can help. I’m sure very many of us running our own businesses can identify with the same issues and dilemmas, so I’m going to try and use the blog to share my advice with everyone.

Wedding blogs – what’s that all about?

I was asked this question today, by a photographer I know via twitter. It’s funny: I live in a little bubble where blogs are the centre of everything I do, and it’s so easy to forget that the blogging phenomenon is still relatively new to the UK. Of course, this applies to brides and grooms as well as to wedding businesses. So it was a great question to be asked, and really got me thinking.

A girl lived with her mother on the outskirts of a smoky city. The girl was beautiful: she had a gentle smile and kind eyes with a little laughter behind them. Her hair was the colour of sunshine and she wore red. She loved red. She always wore red.

She was looking forward to seeing her beloved for a special date, so she decided to take a short cut through the forest to meet him. Smiling as she plucked her favourite cape from by the door – for she loved to be noticed – the beautiful girl stepped outside. Heads turned.

Little Red Riding Hood was her name.

creative wedding photography blog shoot (3)The forest was a magical place. Birds sang, cute little animals scurried around in the undergrowth, pretty flowers blossomed all year round. Little Red Riding Hood felt alive, free and happy there.

Only this day, something felt wrong.

I love the weddings that make me stop. My fingers, poised to type, pause in mid air for a few moments. This wedding blog feature stands out from the crowd: Jenny and Tim had the most sophisticated, luxurious day – perfect for English Wedding blog.

I love weddings with personality. Whoever you are, whatever you love and wherever your inspiration and style comes from, the most important thing is to create the wedding day that reflects you. Jenny and Tim’s wedding day does just that. It’s pure, perfect, classic glamour.
