This shoot involved some amazing wedding suppliers and took place at the magnificent Northbrook Park wedding venue in Surrey. All images are by Carey Sheffield at Hoi Polloi Events, with make up by the lovely Joyce at Brides and Beauty. Flowers are by Evelyn Cole, those delicious looking cakes are by Rise and Shine Cakes, candy is from Creative Candi and cake pops were supplied by Party Pop Bakery.

I adore the stationery and details from Glasshouse Stationery – those floral tags are wonderful! Credit also to my favourite wedding accessories designers Jane at HF Couture, as well as The Vintage Sparkle company.

I know you’ll love the exciting colours and bright, springlike flavours of the sweetie tables and stationery suites in this adorable wedding blog. I instantly loved this shoot as soon as I saw it and have been looking forward to sharing it with all of you today!

You just don’t see much wedding stationery on blogs – or at least, not as much as I think there should be! I love paper, you see. I love graphic design and typography, handwriting (from neat lettering to extravagant scrawls) and I love details. So when I stumbled across the Truly Madly Dottie blog I was more than pleased to see them again!

I’ve actually been stumbling across these guys all week! We’re involved in a little photo shoot which I can’t tell you about, along with some other fantastic wedding people – all very exciting. And then I spotted the lovely Dottie ladies on Love My Dress blog as well!

Why so popular? Because these two ladies are ever so talented and have combined their skills to make a rather exceptional wedding business – with Dottie Creations and Dottie Photography providing paper and pictures to UK brides and grooms!

Hi there everyone, and happy weekend! Are you up to anything nice? I’m just going to be writing a couple of wedding blogs and I’ll spend the rest of my time catching up on watching Lost – yes I know I’m a few years behind but I’ve just got hooked and it’s a nice escape from work… although I can’t help keeping one eye on the laptop all the time!

Anyway – it’s been a busy week and I’d love your help with something. I’m looking out for new and fabulous wedding accessories and invitation designers to share on the blog. Early in the year there are always new wedding suppliers making an appearance as well as more established small businesses doing a big promotional push – which is fab! I would dearly love to have time to discover them all for myself but I suspect many escape my radar. So – if you have seen something amazing you’d like to tell other brides and grooms about, please get in touch and tell me so I can share on the English Wedding Blog! Thank you 🙂

James and Katherine’s big day is all about timeless elegance. This couple chose a luxury Surrey wedding venue (Botley’s Mansion) to host their day, and the wedding reception was all about delicate golden colours and beautiful, traditional styling.

Surrey wedding blog Karen Flower Photography (2)

Katherine describes their day as “An elegant and stylish wedding with a tasteful presence of gold, ivory and sparkle detail that provided a backdrop for the rich and colourful accents seen in the grand reception flower arrangements.” It most certainly is – and I think this wedding shows one of our most luxurious stately home wedding venues at it’s very best.

The photography is by lovely reportage wedding photographer Karen Flower, and Katherine and James have shared their wedding story with you today as well – it starts about a third of the way down the page. Enjoy – and be inspired! Claire xxx

There’s a little clue in the title of today’s wedding blog for you. This is a very bright wedding, an absolutely fantastic theme and a blog post to make you grin from ear to ear in delight.

Emily and Alan are a great couple – full of fun and creativity. And while Emily is stunning in her Jasmine Couture wedding dress, Alan steals the show in a bright. yellow. suit. (There’s a photo to watch out for with a handwritten note from Emily: “I love you even though you look like a bowl of custard”! which is wonderful! Seriously though – he looks great, and everything about today’s wedding blog is brilliant. Literally!

The photos are by Dorset wedding photographer Paul Underhill, who contacted me a few weeks ago and told me that Alan had changed into the canary yellow suit partway through the wedding to surprise all the guests. What a fab idea! The yellow and blue theme continues throughout the day and I love all the details and styling of the marquee as well. The photos look amazing!

If you’re styling a vintage military wedding then I’ve a feeling you’ll love Sara and Dave’s wedding blog. They’re a fantastic couple with a great sense of style, and used lengths of bunting and traditional decorations to theme their gorgeous wedding.

vintage wedding (1)Not only are there loads of ideas for you from Sara & Dave’s big day, I’ve created a vintage military wedding Pinterest board with more ideas to share with you – so if you’re planning a similar style for your day, do have a look!

Everyone has a strong idea about how a wedding should be: lavish and extravagant is fine if you have the money and it suits your lifestyle. But personally, for me, nothing is more romantic than an intimate wedding with a few guests and some little details to make the day your own. Their country wedding just looks perfect to me: warm and cosy, stylish and really personal. And I absolutely love it.

Morning! Today’s wedding blog is for all of you bookworms out there to enjoy. If you’re anything like me you’ll know the absolute bliss of having your nose tucked into a book, living out love stories and adventures from the safety of a cosy sofa! And as books have been making a huge statement in wedding decor recently (see my books at weddings Pinterest board) I loved Elizabeth‘s ideas for bridal styles based on some of our favourite characters from fiction. I hope you will too! Enjoy xxx

Wedding style ideas inspired by books

By Elizabeth Mercer Photography

Today’s wedding blog is a make-up and hair bridal shoot inspired by books. It’s really creative and helps brides think outside the box when it comes to their big day. I thought it would be a fun exercise to try to capture the look or mood of fictional characters from literature, and I collaborated with my makeup artist friend, Megan Williams and hair stylist friend Charlie Pivetti.

I’m so very pleased to hear some great news from my friend and sponsor, the lovely Phil Drinkwater. Chatsworth House have just chosen to use a number of Phil’s photos for their latest wedding brochure!

Phil – congratulations!

Phil Drinkwater is a favourite photographer of mine, and has previously won the Guild of Photographers’ “Photographer of the Year” award.

As one of the very best luxury wedding venues in the North West, Chatsworth House hosts incredibly beautiful weddings. The stately home is famous for its spectacular gardens, houses one of the most important private art and sculpture collections and is set in 1000 acres of stunning parkland. Phil says on his own wedding photography blog that Chatsworth “is the perfect venue for beautiful wedding photography”.

See a gorgeous Chatsworth House wedding blog by Phil Drinkwater. Ezgi and Joe were married at Chatsworth last summer and their wedding was featured on the fab Brides Up North wedding blog!
