Welcoming new wedding photographers as sponsors of English Wedding Blog is always a pleasure. This is especially true for Somerset wedding photographer Simon Biffen – a first class photographer who clearly gives 100% to every bride and groom he works with.

I was impressed by Simon’s dedication straight away as he told me about his wedding photography.

A great wedding photography experience

He’s there for you from the beginning and wants your wedding photography experience to be flawless – for this he’ll meet you, get to know you, visit your wedding venue, chat about your plans and be available before your wedding day for advice if you need him to be.

Reassurance like this is a wonderful thing – so do have a look at Simon’s English Wedding Showcase Page to find out more. Simon is based in Somerset and will happily travel far and wide to photograph a wedding!

There are so many secrets I know, but can’t share in this blog post. Don’t worry – I won’t. Let’s just say I think the most exciting thing for me this whole year will be seeing Kirstie’s Vintage Home Wedding on telly in the autumn, and the next most exciting thing (it’s a very close second) will be buying the book to accompany the series.

Calligraphy for Kirstie's vintage home wedding

My calligraphy, for Kirstie Allsopp’s Vintage Home Wedding programme – close up

I love Kirstie – she’s inspiring, funny and has done so much to raise the profile of crafts in the UK, from baking to mosaics and scarecrows… and when I heard (on the phone) that she was making a programme about a crafty vintage wedding I was over the moon!

Especially as there was a chance she’d use some of my calligraphy.

Kirstie’s Vintage Home Wedding – coming soon!

For now, everything is under wraps. Kirstie herself has tweeted one photo of the day, saying she’s not allowed to share more. It’s a tantalising glimpse into Amy and Craig’s wedding styling and I can’t wait to see close ups!

Sometimes I read wedding infographics and cringe. Other times I have a wry smile – and in this case I quite enjoyed reading about the Top 10 ways to propose. The last way mentioned is my favourite – and I’m not sure about the puppy (rescue an older dog instead, folks!)

Top 10 ways to propose a girl

I know you’re probably all engaged already. Did your bride- or groom-to-be propose creatively or was the proposal simply the most romantic moment ever?

Catch up with recent real wedding blogs on English Wedding Blog to read even lovelier proposal stories – and check out the blog posts coming up, as I have some really, really wonderful proposal stories in my inbox this week!

Frogg Manor wedding Cheshire blog (39)As you might guess from the title, today’s English Wedding Blog is packed to the rafters with ideas, from a home made wedding dress (which is jaw-droppingly gorgeous) via a quirky and eccentric country manor venue to a “guest being locked in his own car boot”.

I really don’t know where to begin! This is fantastic…

The beautiful images are by Cheshire wedding photographer Adam Riley. The wedding venue is Frogg Manor (about 15 minutes from Chester), described as “Unashamedly bourgeois, eccentric, original & quintessentially English”. And I have a wonderful wedding report from the bride – Angela looks out of this world – the perfect English bride. (Ben too is gorgeous – they’re a match made in heaven!)

Enjoy xxx

Stephanie Allin’s ‘Night and Day’ wedding dress collection launched over the weekend at her London boutique. First revealed on the catwalks in May, these fabulous dresses inspired by the romance of beautiful Marrakesh will be available from stockists all over the country.

I think the styling is divine: Stephanie says, “Marrakesh is an amazing place to gain stimulation, painted entirely in an enchanting salmon pink the city is fondly referred to as the “Rose City.

The new Stephanie Allin 2013 collection has been created with dashes of rose-hued toned fabrics as well as more traditional ivory silks…

It’s with a twinkle in my eye and a ringmaster’s flourish that I’d like to introduce you to my  new wedding blog sponsor this morning!

Andrew Bradley designs gorgeous, perfectly styled and creative wedding invitations for vintage-loving couples. (Anyone spot the vintage theme on English Wedding Blog today?!)

Vintage wedding invitations in the UK

My favourite invitation from Vintage Designs is the ‘Two peas’ invite – for the concept and the illustration. But Andrew’s English Wedding Showcase Page proves he can turn his hand to vintage inspired designs from any era, with every illustration so caringly crafted and beautifully made.

Andrew told me,  “Vintage Designs is founded on the principle of time honoured, traditional design – I love the detail, small elements that can go unnoticed at first, but gradually reveal themselves to you.

“I want to excite and inspire the wedding couple, to provide something that not only makes them feel special to use as an invite, but also makes their recipient feel special to receive such an item.”

The beauty of this wedding blog feature is all about the details. A creative project by The Manchester Vintage Collective, the photos (by Foley Photography) tell the story of a wartime bride who waits for the return of her groom.

There are some lovely vintage wedding ideas here – from the gorgeous paper accessories by Joanne at Vintage Twee to the flowers in the suitcase table plan… if you’re a true fan of vintage, then this is for you!

The ‘Manchester Vintage Collective’ styled and shot four different eras – 1920s through to 1950s – capturing the essence of each period through the flowers, styling, stationery, accessories, bridal wear etc. This is the 1940s part of the shoot, and I’m looking forward to seeing the other eras – 1920s through to 1950s – on other wedding blogs!

May I ask you a question, lovely blog readers? I know there are quite a few wedding suppliers reading English Wedding Blog – so hopefully you can help me with something today.

Athelhampton House wedding photography by Linus Moran – click to see the full blog post (it’s gorgeous!)

How are you finding the wedding season this year? I know of a few small wedding businesses who are struggling a little more than usual – the summer seems unusually quiet.  My calligraphy enquiries are on the slow side compared to last year, and I have friends who simply haven’t seen orders pick up over the summer months as they usually do.

So – a question for any wedding suppliers out there – how is this summer for you? And if you’re noticing it’s quieter, why do you think this is? Olympics fever? Are there fewer weddings this summer or are couples spending less and working to tighter wedding budgets?

I’d be very interested to hear what you think 🙂

More than anything else in the world, your wedding should celebrate you and your love. A wedding should be personal, it should be comfortable and it should be right for you.

So when Rob and Jayne’s wedding landed in my inbox I was over the moon. Here’s a couple who bask in their individuality. Both gorgeous and creative, Rob and Jayne’s wedding was a day to remember, and then some! And Lancashire wedding photographer Jonathan Bean was there to capture the whole day for their album…

Bean Photo wedding blog lancashire (12)

The other thing I love is when a groom shares his wedding story. Rob’s wedding report begins with a romantic proposal story which brought a tear to my eye – and he tells the story of his wedding to Jayne so beautifully – so this wedding blogger is now handing over to a better writer, just for one day! Rob…

Enjoy!

Melanie and Paul’s wedding is beautiful. Let me set the scene: “messy and unstructured” was Melanie’s brief for their florist, while the key theme for the wedding was that this should be a very personal day. I adore it – from the beautiful images to the perfect flowers and all the love and laughter with friends and family. There’s a wonderful moment where Melanie’s on her friend’s knee, showing off her Kurt Geiger bridal shoes – watch out for it! I also love the wedding sign outside the venue, and the little boy in charge of the wedding rings is an absolute star!

I’ll hand over to Melanie and Paul with their wedding report, and to Dorset wedding photographer Linus Moran for the gorgeous images of their day, which I’m calling:

Zen Photographic wedding blog (5)This morning I’m humming “Bring me Sunshine…” – and I also have some gorgeous wedding ideas to share with you. Zenna from Zen Photographic told me about a little ideas session she’d photographed with Cheshire wedding suppliers at Nunsmere Hall, and I loved the images from the day. I am sure they’ll inspire some of you to create bright, beautiful and fun wedding tables just like these!

There are oodles* of ideas here – from wearing flowers in your hair, to creating alternative floral displays for your tables, and styling everything from the wedding cake to the bridesmaids flower garlands to fit a beautiful garden party wedding theme. I hope you love it!
