Over the last couple of months I’ve fallen in love with kraft paper and manilla stationery – big time! I blame Pinterest and all the US wedding blogs I subscribe to… where wedding invitations, reception stationery and DIY tutorials are what it’s all about.

So today my lovelies I’m sharing my kraft crush (oh dear – I typed that with a k and had to go back and correct it!) with you all. I’ve made a Pinterest board with some favourite ideas and included some of my new calligraphy ideas for you below as well.

Hello everyone! Did you have an amazing weekend? I hope so 🙂 I’ve been mountaineering… we managed to find a nice little mountain to conquer so it’s nice to sit down and rest my legs today! I’m sharing a lovely vintage wedding blog today – Kate and Mike were married near Anglesey and had a traditional, vintage-inspired day with their friends and family.

This gorgeous couple didn’t entirely follow tradition: they had no wedding readings and chose not to spend a night apart before the wedding – which seems an outdated tradition to me anyway! Kate wore a stunning lace wedding dress and the venue decoration was kept simple and elegant with pastel pinks and lace.

Thank you to my friend and north Wales wedding photographer Martin Lyons for the lovely images, and huge congratulations to Kate and Mike! They’ve shared their wedding report and advice for you all at the end of today’s wedding blog. Enjoy! Claire x

A few weeks ago I featured a beautifully elegant Surrey wedding on the blog – James and Katherine’s big day was simply wonderful and full of ideas.

Karen Flower

You loved it too, and wedding photographer Karen Flower was a big hit! When Karen emailed me a week or two later to say she’d already had enquiries because of the Botley’s Mansion wedding feature I was delighted – and I’m even more pleased today because Karen has joined the English Wedding Blog team of sponsors.

You can read all about Karen on her dedicated page on the English Wedding Blog: Surrey wedding photographer Karen Flower, and there are some divine images on the page to show you a kind of cross section of her photography style. (She’s chosen gorgeous photos – beautiful lighting, love, laughter and happy tears – do have a look!)

Mmmm… cheesecake! Over the last couple of weeks I’ve shared some of my favourite tiered wedding cakes as well as this blog post full of advice about real cheese cakes for your wedding. But today’s blog post about mini wedding cheesecakes goes above and beyond the call of duty for this wedding blogger! We’re talking thorough research, scientific questions and a rush of willing volunteer taste testers – all so we can bring you a Proper Review of mini cheesecakes.

Are you making your own wedding invitations? You certainly won’t be alone: more and more couples are taking on the challenge of a bit of DIY wedding stationery to save money and enjoy being creative. But is it really worth it? Sometimes the honest answer is no…

Not all DIY wedding invitations are equal!

I’ve seen bad wedding invitations as well as good – on wedding forums for example. I’d never say so if it would offend someone… but Wedding DIY certainly isn’t easy for everyone! Making invitations often looks easy – even couples with no craft or design experience can be tempted down the DIY route.

If you have a craft or design background then making your own invitations and stationery is almost instinctive – and it’s a must! I’ve seen the most amazing stationery dreamed up in the minds of creative couples, like Jo, Aqua Kat and Farrah who I was chatting to on my Facebook page last week!

Hello lovelies! I hope you’re having a nice week – anything exciting planned for the weekend, anyone? I’m feeling ever so loved-up this morning as Jayne and Steven’s English Wedding Blog report is just wonderful. So rather than me wittering on, I’m going to share a quote from today’s beautiful bride Jayne to introduce today’s real wedding on the blog:

Enjoy every minute of your wedding day. Because once you get to that point, none of the planning etc. matters, just the day when you get married to your best friend and sharing it with those nearest and dearest to you. Remember the feeling of the whole day, the nerves, the joy, the laughter. Hold on to the moments when it is just the two of you, but also soak up the feeling of being surrounded by all the people you love the most in the same room there to celebrate your love. It’s pretty darn amazing – you won’t remember everything, it will fly by and you will want to relive it over and over – but that is what the photos and videos are for. Life will return to a form of normality afterwards, but if you hold on to that feeling, it will forever make you smile.

A confession first of all today everyone: I’ve been gazing at the images for this wedding blog post (possibly dribbling a little) for quite a long time. I should have been typing but a mixture of admiration and hunger stopped me in my tracks! Today I’m sharing the best wedding cakes I’ve seen all year – seriously these are damned impressive and then some!

luxury wedding cakes from Cakes by Beth UK (1)

My favourite! Au Naturale is a stack of Madagascan vanilla sponge filled with vanilla buttercream and fruity raspberry jam, with a long glossy red ribbon bow, which draped down the length of the cake creates a bold and striking focal point.

Designer wedding cakes from Cakes by Beth

Designer Beth is modest about her wedding cakes, and I suspect she’s blushing already but I really do admire her creativity, attention to detail and the passion she pours into her wedding cakes business. Beth is based in the North West, has exhibited and given demonstrations at top events like The Cake & Bake Show and designed cakes for high profile events and many, many weddings.

Smaller weddings are always my favourites! The atmosphere is relaxed and full of love and often an intimate wedding means budgets can be played with rather than stretched – meaning smaller weddings can be creative and fun. Annette and Darren’s wedding on the Isle of Wight is fantastic: their style is exciting and colourful and they’re clearly so very much in love.

intimate wedding photography by Jason Mark Harris (2)

I also adore their big day because they included family in a big way. Annette told me, “our marriage means more to us than the coming together of our couple, it is also the coming together of the two sides of our family“. I think that’s magical.

Of course there’s also a fabulous cake, Annette’s dress is amazing and she’s such a beautiful bride. The images by wedding photographer Jason Mark Harris are ever so lovely – and Annette and Darren have been kind enough to share their wedding story with us all today. I know you’ll love it!

There’s something a little voyeuristic about working as a wedding blogger in that I get to see a little of the lives of the rich and famous! This exclusive London bridal event is an example of how fabulous top wedding events can be, with a luxury bridal launch in Mayfair. The dresses by Oscar De La Renta are as classy as can be – and new fragrance “Something Blue” sounds just perfect for every bride! Mark Niemierko has shared his write up of the event – feast your eyes and enjoy. Claire xxx

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve had an amazing week. It’s been busy here – I promise I’ll show you some of the wedding calligraphy I’ve been working on, as soon as I can upload the images… I even missed a day on English Wedding Blog last week as I was writing so much! (whistles… did anyone notice it went quiet last Thursday?! Oops!)

Bristol wedding by Joseph Hall Photography (1)

Anyway, it’s been a brilliant couple of weeks for wedding submissions and one I loved most was from the very lovely Joseph Hall. I know you’ll love Simon and Gemma’s Bristol wedding – it’s simple and elegant and the images are wonderful. They’ll make you smile too: I don’t often say this, but watch out for the gorilla!

Simon and Gemma shared their wedding report at the end of today’s feature so do have a read, and leave a comment if you can! Congratulations to a bride and groom who are both gorgeous and generous for sharing their big day on the blog, and my thanks to wedding photographer Joseph Hall for the submission. Enjoy! Claire xxx

Have you used Pinterest for your wedding planning? I’m wondering whether I should include some of my favourite boards on this weekly* best wedding blogs feature. I’ve been pinning a lot this week and added a lovely new Pinterest button to the blog too! The old one was a piddly little thing which sat in the corner doing nothing, hehe. Anyway – let me know if you’d like more Pinterest boards in here!
