Hello again! I hope you’ve had a great week and are smiling this weekend and looking forward to whatever plans you have for today. Allow me to distract you momentarily with a beautiful, sparkly Christmas wedding. It’s high time I shared Emma and Tom’s wedding day on the blog – I’ve been holding onto this one for too long!

Yorkshire UK wedding blog (1)

There’s so much to enjoy here – the wintry sunshine flooding through the windows of Aldwark Manor sets the scene for one of the most beautiful Christmas weddings I’ve seen. Then there’s our gorgeous bride and groom, whose portrait photos are lit in such a magical way. Some of my favourite images are of the children at Emma and Tom’s Christmas wedding… those endless beads in glass bowls really do look tempting, don’t they?!

Congratulations to Emma and Tom and thank you for sharing your wedding story (about half way down the page) with us all today! Thanks also to Yorkshire wedding photographer Ian Wallace for submitting the feature to English Wedding Blog. Do share a comment at the end, we’ll all be so very happy to hear from you! Enjoy. Good morning! How was your Valentine’s Day? Mine was really lovely – romantic and special. I hope you all had a wonderful day to remember, and for those of you celebrating your last Valentine’s Day before you become Mr & Mrs, I hope you had the best day ever! We’re celebrating on the blog with a February wedding at Blenheim Palace. This is romantic, and timeless, and has some gorgeous details you’ll love as well as some fascinating traditions to discover.

Rahele and Michalis used their cultural backgrounds to inspire their wedding day. I love the Persian tradition of dipping pinky fingers into honey to share! – watch out for the photo and read Rahele’s explanation in her wedding report about half way down this blog feature.

The images are all from Weddings by Nicola & Glen – Oxfordshire based wedding photographers who’ve recently had a wedding featured on Style Me Pretty! I think they’re fabulous and I’m sure you’ll agree! They’ve very kindly taken the time to write an introduction to today’s wedding blog for us. Enjoy! Claire xxx

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I hope you have some lovely things planned for today – do enjoy every moment won’t you! Now… talk about surprises… today’s groom managed to sneak a gospel choir into the wedding plans without his gorgeous bride finding out until the big day! Simon and Katie had a really creative and elegant vintage inspired wedding which I think you’ll enjoy. Images are by Kent wedding photographer Tony Gameiro.

The venue is the very beautiful Lympne Castle (previously featured here with Tamara and Joseph’s wedding), where Katie and Simon were married in a beautiful civil ceremony in the west drawing room, in front of a bay window looking out over the south east coast. It sounds so perfect, doesn’t it?

The best part of this wedding blog feature is this lovely advice from the bride and groom: “Remember that all that really matters is the two of you and the love you have for one another” – isn’t that beautiful?

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! (Yes, as a wedding blogger I can officially say that to everyone I know and I don’t think I’ll be in trouble – I love you all.) I’ve jumped very firmly from “I don’t do Valentines” into embracing the occasion with everything I’ve got, and can’t wait for a lovely romantic afternoon and evening. (But you’re not invited… 😉

Happy Valentine’s Day!

So what are your plans? Are you going out? Staying in? Celebrating your last Valentine’s Day before you get married? Or maybe you’re a first-time wedding blog visitor (because he proposed over breakfast – in which case congratulations!) – I hope you have the loveliest Valentine’s Day no matter what you’re doing.

There are always newspaper features and stories with a bit of an anti-Valentines focus on the 14th of February – fair enough: it’s not the best day if you’re single. I also understand the argument that it’s an excuse for Hallmark and the likes of Clintons to sell cards. Bah humbug…

Hello there! It’s ideas time – and a little explanation about the options for seating your wedding guests on the blog today. Will you choose place cards, escort cards or a seating plan – or should you have all three! The answer is no – and today’s guest blogger Jessica is here to explain all. Enjoy! Claire xxx

There are so many choices out there for how to seat guests on your wedding day. Some brides are lost as to what escort cards are, or at least a little confused about the difference between them and place cards. Aren’t they both there to help your guests find their seats? Yes! But they are, in fact, two completely different things. Simply put, escort cards guide your guests to their designated table, while place cards help guests find their assigned seat or should we say “place”?!! But then there are seating charts too…

I love Louise’s approach to wedding photography. When I asked about her wedding photography style and why she loves her job Louise told me she photographs weddings for the love of capturing people. She finds excitement in looking for moments, thinking creatively and telling your story. I think that’s such a lovely attitude – and it certainly shows in the wonderful images on Louise’s wedding photography website as well as on her blog.

Hello again! This afternoon we’re talking wedding invitations – and I’m sharing a little luxury with you. Incidentally, I was chatting to a reporter from a regional magazine yesterday, who asked for my thoughts on luxury stationery and the rising cost of weddings. My reply to this question is always the same: couples should prioritise, cutting out less important things (cakes, for example) and spending on quality services which are important to you. If you’re a paper lover like me, bespoke wedding invitations are a beautiful wedding essential! Here’s my lovely friend and blog sponsor Wendy Bell to tell you more! Claire xxx

There’s music in the air at English Wedding Blog today – both here at HQ (I’m listening to the incredible Dan Donnelly while I type) and on your very own screens. Today’s guest article is from the lovely Rich at Alive Network – one of the UK’s experts in wedding entertainment. Rich is about to share his top tips for wedding music: time to find out which are the best bands and music styles to make your evening reception a resounding success!

When you’re looking for that perfect entertainment for your wedding reception, nothing beats the excitement, energy and sheer fun of a live wedding band. But what type of wedding bands should you choose?

For wedding entertainment that gets everyone of all ages up and dancing, choose a four-piece rock and pop function band. If you choose a wedding band from Alive Network that offers a great range of music, whatever they play, at least some of your guests will know it!wedding band UK Alive Network entertainment (2)

Quite understandably, a top concern for English weddings is the weather. Even in the summer months a shower is likely, and I suspect most couples have an eagle eye on the long range weather forecast in the month before their wedding day. I’ve heard showers referred to by one Lake District wedding photographer as ‘liquid sunshine’ – and I guess positivity is one approach to the prospect of rain on a wedding day!

English wedding blog Jessica Roberts Photography (1)

The other, which you may not have heard of before today, is to hang a teru teru bozu doll outside your window on the wedding day. They’re known as weather dolls and you can either make one, like Haruna’s mum did, or buy them on Etsy.com! So on Paul and Haruna’s wedding day, this little guy made the rain go away and they had a beautiful English wedding at Yaxley Hall.

I must say thank you to wedding photographer Jessica Roberts for submitting such a quintessentially English wedding for the blog today. I do hope you love it! My congratulations to the gorgeous couple Haruna and Paul, and thank you so much for sharing the details of your day with us all.

Hello everyone! I hope the weather is treating you kindly… for a moment there I thought February was going to be spring-like – but no. It’s freezing here! My crafting fingers are safely tucked away in fingerless gloves so it’s lucky I have Katie from Artyard Handmade to bring you a bit of genius wedding DIY on the blog today – and I know you’ll love her guest post. Glue and scissors at the ready everyone (or bookmark the page for later!) Enjoy. Claire xxx

Wedding place cards with a handmade touch

Anything handmade takes time. That’s part of the charm. When it comes time to do the place cards for your reception, using plain place cards is an easy way to set the table but if you’re after something special with a handmade touch get your girlfriends together for an evening of crafting. You’ll need scissors, glue and some pretty papers to match your theme or even just pages from old books. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
