Kelly’s beautiful smile will brighten your morning – there’s a promise! She’s just gorgeous, and groom Anthony is her perfect match. Their wedding at Wasing Park in Berkshire is modern with a rustic twist.

Wedding at Wasing Park by Karen Flower Photography (1)

Kelly wears a wonderful dress by English designer Kate Sherford, and Anthony’s suit is a smart herringbone style from Stafford Tailoring. They used simple but very elegant white flower bouquets and decorations, and a deep teal colour for bridesmaids and table decor throughout the venue. The light in the glass ceremony room is fabulous, and the rustic converted barn where the wedding breakfast takes place is warm and welcoming.

Never let anyone tell you your wedding has to be unique! Your wedding should be personal, reflecting both your personalities and enjoyable for your guests. But for those of you who are looking for that little extra something to surprise everyone, here are 16 creative and unusual wedding entertainment ideas. Fire jugglers not exciting enough for you? Well then…

wedding entertainment UK (3)

There is nothing better at a wedding reception than a great band, great food and great friends. However, entertainment for weddings is now branching out beyond anything ever seen been before. Brides and grooms all over the UK are opting to have their entertainment reflect themselves, their hobbies or bring back memories from their relationship to share with guests. Entertainment ideas range from a fire show at the end of the night to bring back memories of that perfect holiday in Thailand, a football freestyler as a gift for your soccer mad fiancé or a Del Boy look-a-like to astound your ‘Only Fools and Horses’ loving family during your wedding breakfast.

Hayley and Joe chose this very popular reading for their countryside wedding in Cornwall. It’s a beautiful celebration of love and partnership, of how being with someone you love can only change you for the better.

Love

by Roy Croft

I love you,
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am when I am with you.

I love you,
Not only for what you have made of yourself,
But for what you are making of me.

I love you for
the part of me that you bring out;
I love you for
putting your hand into my heaped-up heart
And passing over all the foolish, weak things
that you can’t help dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out into the light
All the beautiful belongings
that no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern, but a temple;
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.

OK – I admit defeat. If we can’t have any actual sunshine (as I type it’s nowhere near as gorgeous outside as it should be in mid-June!) then let’s make our own. Out of lemons.

I may have lost the plot just a little there, and it reminds me of summer evenings as a teenager trying to ‘organically’ make my hair blonder by putting lemon juice on it. Every day. But indulge me for a few moments and you’ll see! Today’s feature of quirky lemon wedding ideas is bright and pretty – and what better way to rebel against our unreliable English weather than to use lemons as summery wedding decor? They really do look fab!

Wedding photographer Kelly Weech decided to run a ‘rock the dress’ competition for a bride to wear her dress again. Today’s beautiful model Natalie was the winner of the competition as she suffered with a migraine on her wedding day and honeymoon, has lost weight since getting married and wanted more from her photographs.

I’m welcoming today’s lovely new blog sponsors Pixies in the Cellar with open arms and a huge grin. Creative North West wedding photographers Peter and Sara are based in Cheshire and cover the whole of Greater Manchester, the North West and further afield too!

Pixies in the Cellar are blog favourites: they’ve had weddings featured on some of my favourite UK wedding blogs –

They’re also just lovely people. Peter wished me good luck on the day of my driving theory test and I passed! So Pixies in the Cellar are my newest lucky charm 🙂

But it’s their wedding photography which really stands out for me. Their style is to create a set of images that document yet have a compositional and artistic content. Capturing the essence and flavour of your wedding in an artistic and visually compelling way is the driving goal of Pixies in the Cellar.

2013 has been a big year for theatre and cinema weddings, usually with an art deco or vintage style. Hannah and Steve’s wedding uses Sheffield’s Millennium Gallery as an incredibly beautiful backdrop for their ceremony. Their reception was at the amazing contemporary theatre, The Crucible. Choosing a venue like this will pretty much define your wedding style. There’s no room for vintage fluff, instead today’s beautiful bride and gorgeous groom used trees, simple flower arrangements and elegant lines to style their wedding.

Steve designed all of their wedding stationery, and music choices for the ceremony included The XX, Bon Iver and a reading from Pulp’s “Something Changed” – because naturally this wedding had a subtle Sheffield theme.

It’s just divine – I know you’ll love this wedding blog as much as I do. Images are by wonderful Mark from Tierney Photography, and Hannah and Steve have shared their wedding report with us all at the end of the page. Huge congratulations to a stunning and stylish bride and groom, and thank you so much for sharing your wedding day on the blog!

If, like me, you live in a rural area or outside of the major cities, you might find it difficult to make it to the big wedding fairs and catwalk shows. Local wedding fairs are a world apart from the big shows in London and the bridal catwalks around the country can be very different from each other, often depending on the organisers of the wedding fair. Today we have a front row seat from one of London’s busiest wedding shows at Bluewater – all images are by London wedding photographer Louise Bjorling.

Beautiful jewel necklines, lace, dreamy textures, soft layering and vintage inspired details can all be found in this year’s bridal fashion – next to styles that have a more fitted, ladylike Grace Kelly / Jackie Kennedy reminiscence to them. All kinds of hues are right for this season – rich and vibrant colours as well as more subdued shades.

I can’t stop smiling. Seeing Hayley don her wedding wellies and climb into her special little seat on the trailer, while Joe drives his blue tractor along Cornish country lanes… it’s pretty much made my day! You’ll love this – today’s wedding blog has ideas aplenty for any countryside-inspired wedding and is guaranteed to lighten up your pretty face with a grin as well.

It’s really pretty special, this wedding. Hayley and Joe kept things simple, didn’t spend the earth, called on family and friends to help out and styled their day in a very personal way. Inspired by the countryside and the sea, they created a gorgeous wedding which was very, very ‘them’. And that’s all you need, right? So congratulations and thanks to a fabulous couple for sharing their day with us. All images are by the very lovely Mark from Evolve Photography. Do read Hayley and Joe’s wedding report at the end of the post for those supplier links if you’re planning your own wedding in Cornwall too!

Hello everyone! Who’s got sunshine this afternoon? I’m going to quickly share a couple of highlights from a Warwickshire wedding with you – do click through to read more and see how beautiful bride Rachel and her groom Nick combined vintage touches with elegant English wedding styling.

by Alix Marina-Chouhan, Lumiere Photography

Nick and Rachel got married at Bosworth Hall last year- I know I am behind with my blogs!- and time went so fast that we didn’t have time for all the shots we had planned. I offered to come back in the morning but they were happy to leave it as their day actually went. They oozed happiness and I know they have kept as happy as they were, we have kept in touch and Nick ordered a huge multi frame of their wedding photos for their first anniversary- paper.

Here are a few photos. To see more go to http://www.lumiere-photography.co.uk/weddings/bosworth-hall-wedding/

Here’s something interesting for you – I’d love to know what you think of these post-wedding shoots from Dreamodo. Their intention is to bridge the gap between bridal shoots in magazines and real life couples. They don’t do wedding photography; instead they’re offering you (both) the chance to feature in your own stylish shoot. Would you do it?

magazine style wedding shoots as gifts

I asked Micky about the concept behind Dreamodo: “Anyone can have a shoot with us. Budgets vary depending on the theme & location and the number of people & services involved. We are definitely marketing the bridal shoots as a gift for after (or before) the wedding. They can be a gift for the bride & the groom for their wedding list (we provide gift certificates). We also have a variety of options for the final presentation of the images and/or video, from the traditional photo book to a bespoke art & design installation piece or a mini-movie.

Morning everyone! I hope you’re having a lovely day. While it’s quiet here (anyone got sunshine today?!) I thought I could share my very honest thoughts on an infographic I was sent recently. Basically I think the wedding industry tries to feed this kind of tat to brides and grooms – long lists of all the things you might possibly need for a wedding… but 90% of them at least are things you can avoid, with a little creative thinking. So rather than reading a list like this and rushing to fill in every box with a budget figure, grab a big fat pen and start crossing things out! There you go – liberating isn’t it! Enjoy. Claire x

All the things I don’t love about wedding budget checklists!

I should also mention I have a bit of a ‘thing’ about any kind of loans company which is why I’m not going to worry about upsetting Aussie Personal Loans with this blog post. But do you really need a bridesmaids’ luncheon? Or a ring pillow? Scratch a few of these off your list and you might not need a loan either… now there’s a nice outcome from this little checklist!

relaxed wedding Essex David Walker Photography (1)I love Lois and Gary’s approach to their big day: more personal than conventional, no stuffy rules or etiquette, just fun and laughter and love. That’s how a wedding should be! The couple were married at a registry office the day before, and the celebration you’re about to share is all about celebrating their love with friends and family. Perfect!

Congratulations to such a fab couple – Lois and Gary I wish you all the very best and many happy years together. You’re stars for sharing your wedding on the blog today! My thanks also to lovely David Walker Photography. Everyone – enjoy! Claire x
