Hi everyone! I hope you’re not working too hard this lovely morning 😉 as I have a gorgeous 1950s Hollywood wedding to share which will stop you in your tracks. It’s funny when wedding photographers get in touch with a submission for me, as they usually email and very politely ask if I’d like to feature a real wedding on the blog. Little do they know that behind the scenes here I’m jumping in the air and shouting “Oh My God yes PLEASE!” – as was the case when I first saw Emma and Alex’s big day in my inbox. Thank you oh so much Darren Williams Photography!

My reply to Darren’s email says it all: “Within a second of clicking on your link it was a yes from me! What an amazing wedding 🙂 That first image had me smiling so much… there’s so much more to love too: the venue, the little dance in the doorway of the Ashton Memorial! Just wonderful!

Morning everyone! Ella got in touch with me a couple of weeks ago and asked if she could share photographs from her 1920s wedding inspiration shoot with us all on the English Wedding Blog… and I couldn’t resist. The story behind Ella’s shoot is wonderful – inspired by Ella’s Nan – and the images by Alter Ego Portraits are divine. I’m going to share everything with you on the blog today from Ella’s first email to me, the images and a full list of everyone involved in the shoot.

1920s wedding inspiration photography martin plant (1)Ella, you and Tommy look absolutely gorgeous and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your shoot with us today. Do keep in touch and let me know how the wedding planning goes! Claire x

“Dear Claire,

I was recently asked if I’d be interested in participating in a vintage style 1920’s shoot by photographer Martin Plant of Alter Ego Portraits. I jumped at the chance as I have always had a deep affinity with the 20’s. My grandmother gave me a photo of Jessie Matthews and I had to admit the likeness was uncanny. I also have a theatrical background and staring at her photo always gave me a sense of belonging, of coming home.

Ryan and Andrea’s May wedding was full of creativity and style, inspired by their wedding venue. They married at Preston Court in Kent – a famously beautiful wedding venue with its very own carousel. This inspired the circus themed elements to today’s English country wedding, which I think you’ll adore!

Ben and Sally’s August wedding has so much character and warmth, and I know you’ll love it as much as I do. The bride and groom really personalised every detail of their wedding day from the ceremony to the flowers, stationery, cakes and wedding music. Sally’s wedding dress was handmade by her mum (and it’s gorgeous!) while Ben found his vintage suit from a shop in London.

Carys and Austin are today’s star couple on the English Wedding Blog. They were married at Rushton Hall and were so inspired by the venue they styled their day around it – with tables given aristocratic titles, and a feeling of grandeur and formality being at the heart of all their wedding plans.

Rushton Hall English Wedding Blog Sarah Vivienne (1)Carys wears a beautiful Charlotte Balbier dress which looks divine on her gorgeous figure. The lace and detailing on the wedding dress continues throughout the styling of the day, with crystals and a white and silver theme. Today’s English wedding blog is simply elegant and has that timeless feel so many brides and grooms aspire to. All images are by Sarah Vivienne Photography – a favourite photographer of mine! Do read the wedding report which is full of ideas and advice – I’ll introduce today’s blog post with a special quote from Carys talking about her favourite memories from the day:

“The way my heart raced as I walked down the aisle and greeted Austin at the front, then how I just couldn’t quite get my words out on the second part of my vows, making everyone in church cry.”

I’d like to ask a quick question about your wedding music: what springs to mind first? Your first dance, “your song” maybe? Or the ceremony music? Do you find it easier to plan the soundtrack to your evening, and struggle with ideas for personalising your ceremony music? I know I would. I don’t know the first thing about classical music, and if I had a wedding to plan I really wouldn’t know where to start with that part of the day. If you’re struggling with the same issues of classical music then you, my lovely friend, are about to be enlightened and entertained by a brilliant article written by Sam Houston (of Wedding Music Consulation) for the English Wedding Blog. Read, learn, smile, enjoy! Claire x
