Country house winter wedding styling with Bride and Beau and Eva Tarnok Photography (27)
FEATURED

The English Wedding Blog covers every style you can imagine – from boho tipi festival weddings to coastal elopements, luxury city celebrations and the classic, English country house wedding day. I like to think we have something for everyone: today’s feature has that wonderful elegance so many of you are looking for as you plan your wedding style. The images are by lovely Eva Tarnok (who also features on page 140 of the English Wedding Bible with another breathtaking inspirational piece) – and styling is by lovely Katie from The Events Designers.

If you have a moment this evening do head over to the English Wedding Facebook page for a very special behind the scenes video showing how this gorgeous editorial shoot was put together!

I just adore the winter styling – this talented team prove you can have a stunning wedding full of florals and pretty, romantic touches – even in the colder months of the year. Some of my faves are here with a glorious bouquet of anemones and white roses, and hyacinths in the table arrangements to give a wonderful fragrance too! The flowers are by Blue Sky Flowers, and you can find a full supplier list at the end of the feature.Claire

documentary wedding photographers all around the UK - This is Reportage (6)

I have a question for you – do think for a second about this! When you’re scrolling through your favourite wedding blogs and magazines, do you ever stop and smile at an image which makes you laugh? Or see a wedding photo which brings a tear to your eye? Or are the photos you remember seeing on wedding blogs pretty much all about the ideas, styling and the look of weddings? The thing is, I suspect the wedding media are guilty of sharing 90% styling ideas and 10% heartwarming, emotional moments. Which is a shame, because when it comes to your own wedding, the photos should be all about those moments, right? Meet our newest blog sponsor This is Reportage, who are going to show us all what’s important in the long run…

Coastal wedding style ideas from fine art photographer Kathryn Hopkins (21)

I’ll never be perfect. In fact, I never want to be. I’m not a perfect hair, make up, anything kind of girl. I like my life to be windswept and I practically live with sand in my shoes… I would like to think my wedding would be along those lines too! So when I see a shoot like this one, I fall head over heels in love.

Coastal wedding style ideas from fine art photographer Kathryn Hopkins (1)

Those of you who have already read the English Wedding Bible will have spotted our cover photographer Kathryn Hopkins. She’s amazing – a brilliant person who really made my 2017 calligraphy projects special and exciting. Her style aligns so beautifully with mine – the calligraphy pieces I designed for this shoot are some of my favourites and have inspired some beautiful bespoke wedding orders thanks to our feature on Magnolia Rouge last year!

We started the year off with a walk around our local nature reserve yesterday and we’re determined to spend as much time outdoors as we can this year! Otherwise, my main resolution is to be better. I’m keeping it simple – I love my work and my life, so I plan to keep doing what I’m doing… my only resolution is to do everything just that little bit better. How about you? Come and join me over on Facebook this morning and share your resolutions for 2018 – I’d love to hear them!

I think my bouquet would be one of my most exciting wedding purchases – and definitely one of the trickiest to decide on! I love all the flowers (oh! except gerberas and gypsophila!) – so I dream of a tumbling armful of peonies and dahlias, tulips and ferns, hellebores and sweet peas… in all the colours. I fall for a new favourite flower every season so it’s pretty certain I’d be a challenge for any florist… but I know what we’d do: simply find a florist whose own style we adore, and trust them implicitly to create something spectacular! However… as this week is all about our favourite wedding ideas, here’s a beautiful curation of all of our favourite bouquets from the English Wedding Blog! I hope it helps you pin down your flower style!

Dark wedding styling ideas for 2018 weddings, with Emma Barrow Photography (26)

Cake: Edible Essence | Photo credit: Emma Barrow

1. Make an impact with a square, tiered cake!

This beauty from Edible Essence is pure white with a delicate pattern and the effect against the dramatic, dark tablescape is sublime. I adore the arrangement which tops the cake, complete with its own adorable vessel!

Coming to the English Wedding Blog in February – we can’t wait to see more!

2. Perfect your colour palette!

Consider your venue, think about where your cake will be and plan accordingly. You could even create a little backdrop to ‘frame’ your cake if you’re worried it will be smothered by garish curtains in a stuffy corner! Think mirrors, fairy lights or a block colour like this pink wall which frames a cake so prettily!

I adore the soft tones of this cake’s tiers – the pretty florals are perfect, and it’s wonderful to see a cake so beautifully presented!

woodland wedding style with VeVi Photography (17)

Today’s shoot blows my mind, it’s so beautiful! Kirsty’s fabulous blue hair is only the beginning: the dress is insanely beautiful, the owl is the cutest thing ever, and the dripping candles and creative tablescapes tie the alternative fairytale styling (because yes, that’s a thing now!) together perfectly. Huge thanks to lovely Andreea at Vevi Photography for sharing this with us today. Lovelies, you’re going to need your Pinterest fingers!

We wanted to create a fairytale feel for our alternative wedding shoot combining the woodland rustic wedding styling with touches of more luxurious items like gold rimmed plates, some exotic flowers and gold painted apples.

Kirsty and George love fairytales and Disney so when I photographed their fairytale themed wedding previously I knew they would be the right couple for the shoot I had in mind since their wedding had inspired me. It was a thrill to relieve their wedding day emotions with this lovely couple and an absolute joy to have our ring bearer owl there too.

Elegant and fun Madingley Hall wedding with Ayshea Goldberg Photography (12)
FEATURED

Hey lovelies! I’m so happy to be sharing such beautiful inspiration with you this week – I like to think I save the best until last and this year we’re celebrating December in style!! Today’s wedding combines historic elegance with lots of fun touches and a secret theme of Jane Austen – gorgeous bride and groom Bex and John had Jane Austen photo props and did their first dance as the dance from the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice!! How awesome is that? Images are by our lovely friend and sponsor Ayshea Goldberg Photography, who gets the loveliest review from the happy couple (just a couple of paragraphs on…)

Elegant and fun Madingley Hall wedding with Ayshea Goldberg Photography (23)

The Tudor hall at Madingley was so historic and beautiful. We personalised the Saloon Room with lots of photos of us and our family and friends. Our florist added incredible flower garlands to the staircases and the top table. We reused ivy garlands from the church over the grand fireplace and used the bridesmaids bouquets in pint glasses on the tables! My sister put together boxes of goodies for the bathrooms – facewipes, safety pins, chewing gum, nice soap and hand cream. They were such a lovely touch.
