Planning a wedding is supposed to be a joyful, wonderful and dreamy time. You should be feeling the love, having fun and generally adoring every minute. However, that’s not always the case. Complicated families, difficult decisions and any number of personal issues can make the build-up to the big day less than easy.

But planning a wedding when someone is missing can be even tougher. If you’ve lost a parent or parental figure, then the wedding planning process can easily open old wounds and bring back all the grief and emotion that you might have thought had passed.

I love finding out I’m not the only one who loves our old English traditions – and seeing morris dancers at Katy and James’s wedding made me very happy! You see, my dad was a morris dancer and I spent many sunny days as a baby sat outside a pub in my pram while men danced around with bells on their legs. I still enjoy sunshine and pubs, but it’s harder to find morris dancers these days! There are many things I love about today’s wedding – the cake table with the proud ‘vegan’ sign in the centre gets a big thumbs up; the tipis look amazing and the flowers are little rays of sunshine! Katy and James make the loveliest couple, absolutely gorgeous in their wedding finery and beaming with happiness – this wedding just yells summer to me and I love every little bit of it!

A guest article from Weddings By Mary

Weddings give couples the perfect opportunity to express their unique & individual personalities. Adding personal touches to your day makes it so much more unique and memorable. At Weddings By Mary I completely understand that every wedding is unique and although I offer wedding planning ‘packages’, no wedding I plan is the same as another, as none of my couples are the same. I really encourage brides & grooms to express themselves in whatever way makes them feel like, well, them!

Everyone wants to offer their guests a wedding party to remember. But with so many options on party planning out there, what’s a sure fire way to achieve a party with a pop? It’s easy – pick a class live music act and hit the right note for everyone! Live music creates a sizzling party atmosphere – and offers everyone an opportunity to strut their stuff on the dance floor! When your guests realise they recognise the songs, they can enjoy singing along together! Live music freshens up a daytime wedding party and for the evening, a professional function band or tribute act will know how to work a crowd and get your party into gear.
