Hello everyone! I hope you had the loveliest of weekends. It’s been gorgeous here and I’ve spent some time in the countryside over the last couple of days… reflecting on how beautiful nature can be, as the leaves begin to change to glorious reds and autumn shades. Today’s feature continues on from last week’s beautiful woodland wedding fairytale at Owlpen Manor. I was honoured to supply calligraphy for this ideas shoot, which was put together by the very lovely Fiona Campbell and Kat Forsyth alongside some more star wedding industry names.

The images here show ideas for styling a fairytale wedding with a very natural theme – delicate florals with a rustic touch, quintessentially English quotes and table settings with just a dash of Shakespeare! If you’d like to incorporate any of these ideas into your own wedding day then do get in touch. There’s a full supplier list a little way down the page with links to everyone involved.

Sussed! After all my whinging about wedding infographics being made up, tenuous or pointless I’ve been sent one which is actually true, well researched and interesting. Hurray! Perhaps the key difference is that we’re talking about marriages today rather than weddings. So often the two are used as if they’re one and the same thing – but in my mind they’re distinct.

Interestingly I live in the least popular English region for marriages. Could it be that the Lake District’s “liquid sunshine” is off-putting so we’re all heading to Cornwall for a sunny beach wedding instead? Hehe! Any ideas why the North West and London seem to have fewer marriages than other areas?

John on behalf of The Wedding Secret told me, “The main purpose of the infographic is to give people a better understanding of the current state of the wedding market and industry in England, and it’s history. We think this is of genuine interest to anyone who has at least a passing curiosity in trends of human behaviour, and is of particular interest to brides/grooms, wedding suppliers and others in the industry.

I’ve been waiting for so long to share this wedding inspiration blog with you! It’s rare that I get a sneak peek of what’s behind the scenes at a shoot myself… but this time I had insider info (which I’m about to share) on one of the most inspiring and creative projects you’ll see all year!

Owlpen wedding photography (3)

Think Once Upon A Time, only better. Think of fairytales with real danger and drama – there’s no Disney princess here, but a stunning bride and a glamorous temptress. Think of your woodland wedding theme, a quintessentially English wedding day with china and delicate floral crowns and decor, exquisite stationery and dresses to die for.

Morning! Have we all had enough of sunshine yet? Oh, you’d like some more? Me too 🙂 What a lovely week it’s been. And I’m feeling sunny inside because I get to share Sarah and Mickey’s Henley wedding with you today – it’s pretty much my idea of perfect.
Henley wedding Rob Sarah Gillespie (1)
Sarah’s advice for other couples rings very true with me:

Enjoy it. Today is the day you get to promise to spend the rest of your life with the person you want to spend your life with. It’s going to be a good day and literally no one is going to care if there’s a typo in the order of service or the ushers don’t have matching socks!

How true!

Other highlights of today’s wedding blog include Sarah’s gorgeous Justin Alexander dress, the beautiful images from the country fields, all of the lovely details – watch out for the impressive cake! Oh, and all the personal touches from the handmade wedding sign to fairy cakes and bunting. I especially love Sarah’s recommendation for ceilidh bands… the ideal solution for shufflers and lurkers – and tons of fun too!

Morning everyone! How are you? I have a pretty amazing real wedding feature for you this morning – one that shows just how a wedding bursting with personality can be an incredibly memorable occasion. Katie and Tristan are the loveliest couple, and their Newquay wedding blog simply oozes with ideas and inspiration with a very personal touch.

Newquay wedding blog Pat Kelman (1)
Katie’s written a brilliant wedding report to share with you so I will hand over to her as soon as I can! I must just say a huge thank you to the beautiful, beautiful bride – Katie, you’re a real star! And to her gorgeous groom Tristan as well for sharing such an inspiring wedding story. Their wedding photographer is Pat Kelman, based in London. Do check out his website – Katie and Tristan insisted on having Pat travel all the way to Cornwall for their wedding, which goes to show how special he is!

Hello everyone! I’m so pleased you’re here to enjoy Janie and Paul’s London wedding blog with me today. They’re the most gorgeous couple and their wedding day has lots of personal touches which really made me smile.

London wedding blog Jonny Donovan (1)

Watch out for the table plan with a bit of an animal theme – the wedding reception was held at London Zoo! Janie’s dress is a beautiful Stewart Parvin gown which she looks incredible in, and Paul wears a fantastic suit hired from Impeccable. Other ideas on the blog today include the cheese and chutneys… which are making my mouth water! I’d love to see this at a wedding, wouldn’t you?! The food looks delicious and it goes to show that every little detail counts when it comes to catering. A beautiful day with lots of thoughtful and great-looking touches.

Congratulations to the gorgeous bride and groom – Janie, Paul, thank you so much for sharing your big day on the English Wedding Blog. Special thanks also to lovely wedding photographer Jonny Donovan for sharing the images with us all today. I hope you love them! Enjoy 🙂 Claire xxx

I see so many of these infographics and articles about weddings. They do my head in! I always take them with a pinch of salt and I honestly can’t see the point of them (other than clever marketing tools by SEO agencies). As a bride and groom do you really want / need to see these things?

I wonder exactly where the figures are from, and what we’re supposed to learn from them. Are they useful? Helpful? Or do they do more harm than good? Are we judging how much other people are spending? Should we?
