Sometimes I love to blog something just because it’s beautiful. Sometimes it’s just about craftsmanship, elegance and a unique sense of style – because if there’s one thing I know about English brides, it’s that you all have a strong sense of fashion and style. So I already know you’ll adore the new Temperley Bridal Iris collection of beautifully crafted, vintage-inspired wedding gowns. Here are a few of my favourites from the new collection…

Temperley Bridal 2014 (2)
The Temperley Bridal Iris Collection is designed for memories to be made in. Iris introduces 14 new wedding looks, all characterised by meticulous craftsmanship, fine hand embroidery, beautiful beadwork and delicate laces.

Happy new week everybody! How was your weekend? I’ve been to see my teeny tiny baby nephew in the beautiful city of Durham – I’m missing him (and my wonderful sister) already! But there are no post-weekend blues here at English Wedding Blog towers, oh no! For starters I have some lovely calligraphy projects to be doing for Christmas, and I also have a lovely wedding to share with you on this chilly Monday morning. Ruth and Anthony’s English country pub wedding will raise a smile – I hope you like it!

English country pub wedding blog Jeff Turnbull (1)

I love the details of their day, and the fact this lovely couple just never stop smiling! They had some gorgeous details – the flowers provided by the venue, which was The Compasses gastropub at Pattiswick, Essex, also the campervan wedding favours, the fingerprint tree, and too many more details to mention here… so I’ll hand over to wedding photographer Jeff Turnbull to show you! All the images are by Jeff, and the beautiful bride and groom have shared their wedding story with you today too – you’ll find it at the end of the feature. I hope you love it! Have a lovely Monday everyone!

Will you both be making a speech at your wedding? I’ve been trying to decide which surprises me more these days: when a bride makes a speech, or when she doesn’t! At the end of the day I think it’s just a personal choice, and the traditional speech-makers are a thing of the past.

Old fashioned wedding speech etiquette – to be ignored!

The etiquette used to be that the best man would make the main speech. The bride’s father made a toast first, then the groom would say a few words about his bride, and finally the best man would do a bit of a comedy routine, treading a delicate line between filth and funnies, embarrassment and humiliation, chuckles and the odd cringe.

I swear I feel a little warmer just scrolling through the images of today’s gorgeous real wedding… it’s the daisies in Marianna’s bouquet. Or maybe it’s the little fluffy clouds in the sky above the tipis. Perhaps it’s the burlap and bunting, or the almost overwhelming flowers around The Anchor Inn. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but this beautiful English midsummer wedding is making me feel all warm and fluffy inside, for sure!

You’ll adore both Howard and of course Marianna – she’s stunning. Her dress by Tobi Hannah is out of this world – as their wedding photographer Helen Catton told me, “Marianna’s dress was stunning in it’s simplicity and suited her beautifully, it moved like liquid and was very elegant… their wedding was really amazing with lots of lovely little touches.”

Good morning gorgeous blog readers, and welcome to a brand new experience in designer wedding inspiration! I had an email from the very lovely Caroline at Oscar De La Renta a little while ago, asking if you’d all like to see some images of ODLR gowns from an event at Quintessentially Weddings in London – so of course I said yes! We’d love to!

Oscar De La Renta (2)This is one of the most exclusive wedding events to be held in London this year, and with some of the most skilled and creative suppliers in the capital it was a feast for the eyes! The launch of the Quintessentially Weddings Atelier brought the finest wedding artisans all together in one house for one weekend only.

Headlining with a Spring and Fall 2014 Bridal Collection – the latter being seen for the first time in the UK – iconic fashion house Oscar de la Renta made their debut onto the London show scene. Featuring a selection of beautiful gowns from the Oscar de la Renta bridal collections, the house first established in 1965 opened a store on Mount Street earlier this year.

Morning lovely! Oooh it’s so cold! I’m starting to collect gloves and mittens… every time I go shopping I forget them, and buy a new pair… and now I’m tempted to put them all on at once! Brr. But my typing fingers won’t be defeated as I have the most beautiful wedding at Stancliffe Hall to share with you. It’s a venue I haven’t shared on the English Wedding Blog before (but you can see more Derbyshire weddings here) – and it’s pretty special. A Grade II listed hall with some fabulous contemporary touches, it’s the perfect setting for Joanna and Darron’s super chic wedding.

The bride and groom are gorgeous and the love in their eyes just sparkles – I adore the sunlit images, and the colours in Joanna’s bouquet are fabulous. You’ll love it. But my favourite bit? It’s that cake. There’s just something sooo tempting about naked cakes, isn’t there?! Anyway – you’ll love all of today’s beautiful wedding.

Hello everyone! Are you ready for today’s beautiful wedding? Paul and Abi went for a rustic home made wedding style, which was perfect for their venue -the charming and cosy Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel (I’ve always associated Donington with music hehe – it’s nice to learn a little more about such a lovely place!) So we have tons of handmade details with blue gingham ribbon, a photo wall, lots of gypsophila and magical sparkle from fairy lights and tea lights dotted around the venue.

Oh! And let’s not forget the beautiful bride in her stunning lace dress – Abi says she’s a little camera-shy while Paul loves the attention, but I think they both look amazing in the photos – and so in love! Read all about their Derbyshire wedding in Abi’s wedding report at the end of the blog feature today, and enjoy the lovely images from Shaun Taylor Photography. Congratulations to a fabulous couple (and even more congratulations for the bump news!!!) and big thanks to Shaun for submitting such a beautiful wedding to the English Wedding Blog! I hope you enjoy it.

Hello! How are you this lovely morning? I’m deliriously happy – I’m just head over heels in love with today’s wedding. Heather and Gary chose Maunsel House for their vintage travel wedding – a fabulous venue indeed. And then they decided on vintage Vespas for wedding transport. Now as you might know, I ride a Vespa and I’m always, always looking out for Vespa weddings to feature. This one is special – and just look at those beautiful little scoots!

Today’s gorgeous couple tick all the boxes for me – they chose a superb wedding photographer, Neale James, who gets a glowing review in the wedding report (towards the end of the blog feature today). And as further proof of their excellent taste and style, my lovely friend Joanne from Vintage Twee made their on the day stationery (wonderful wedding menus, orders of service and table numbers to fit with the vintage travel wedding theme).

Hello there! I hope you’re having a nice weekend, taking it easy and spending a little quality time with your other half. We’re just about to head up a little mountain in the northern Lake District – weather permitting! But before we go, I have to share some of what I’ve been reading this week with you. Hello everyone! I have a little calligraphy post for you this morning, which I thought I’d share after reading some comments on (my top favourite!) Oh So Beautiful Paper blog. Whether you’re writing your own envelopes in a quirky script, using a calligraphy font or hiring a calligrapher (I’m available!) you should consider how easy your addresses are to read.
handwritten calligraphy address example (2)

Two things to watch out for if anyone’s thinking of hiring a calligrapher or learning:

1. The house name or number must be crystal clear. Watch for 1s that look like 7s and if you’re not sure, don’t embellish simple numbers. Clarity is more important than a fancy flourish.

2. The post code should be the most legible thing on the envelope. Again make sure the numbers and letters aren’t overly flourished here.

In the UK envelopes are sent through the Royal Mail sorting depots and usually go through machine readers. If the machine can’t read the address they’re sorted by hand.

Hello my lovely! Have you been smiling much this morning? I hope so – and I’m going to do my very best to make you smile even more with today’s gorgeous wedding on the blog. I’m sharing Lisa and Neil’s rustic outdoor wedding from sunny Gloucestershire – and it’s just full of wonderful details and ideas – as well as the beautiful sunlight I love most of all!

rustic outdoor wedding UK photography Dafydd Hughes (2)I definitely think as the nights draw in it’s time for me to feature more sunny, summer weddings with you! The occasional snowy wedding is lovely… but sunshine like this just can’t be beaten! And they keep saying we’re in for a long, snowy winter – so I’m staging a little rebellion here on the English Wedding Blog from today!

rustic outdoor wedding UK photography Dafydd Hughes (3)I loved Lisa and Neil’s wedding from the first moment I saw it. Cotswold wedding photographer Dafydd Hughes shared their images with me – and he’s been on the English Wedding Blog before, featuring Sean and Rachel’s sunny wedding with hay bales… not only does lovely Dafydd specialise in beautiful photography, he seems to come with free sunshine! Yay! See his website at http://dafyddhughesphotography.co.uk/
