Hello lovely wedding blog readers! I have a bonus post for you this afternoon with some fabulous images by the lovely Simon Biffen Photography. Lucy and Rob were married at Maunsel House in Somerset, with a ceremony in the grand ballroom and later (after the rain stopped!) a stroll around the glorious grounds.

Today’s real wedding features a stunning short-haired brunette, the lovely Charlie, who wears a bird cage veil and Paloma Blanca wedding dress. The stationery is all home made, and yet this wedding at Shrigley Hall in Cheshire looks wonderfully elegant and stylish – you will LOVE it!!

When Charlie first got in touch with me I was so excited – her photos are just stunning, as is she – and just as excitingly her wedding photographer is the lovely Jonny Draper. I’ve featured Jonny’s work on the English Wedding Blog lots of times (more here:, and I have the biggest admiration for how he works: Jonny’s built his wedding photography business on friendship. Seriously – if you’re getting married in the north west then you need to meet with Jonny for a chat and you’ll see what I mean! Charlie and Dan describe him as ‘incredible‘ – what more do you need to know?!

Hello! Did anyone see June coming?! No? Me neither… I’m still on May! But it’s officially summer and wedding season is in full swing – so let’s begin the week with one of the loveliest weddings I’ve seen: Roseanne and Darren at Cripps Barn.

The gorgeous couple didn’t focus on a colour scheme but as their plans developed they chose details in soft blues and greens. The wedding stands out for the spectacular floral decorations – Roseanne’s bouquet is amazing and the ceremony flowers are fabulous.

Images of their day are by Leeds Wedding Photographer John Hope – a wedding blog favourite who comes very highly recommended!

romantic country wedding blog (3) I hope you love their wedding as much as I do – it’s wonderful and full of ideas. My top tip inspired by today’s couple? Choose a focal point: whether it’s flowers, accessories or stationery and turn that focal point into a real statement to give your wedding a real wow factor. Enjoy!

I’ll never tire of the pretty sparkle of fairy lights – I’ve had mine up at English Wedding Blog HQ since Christmas and yes, I turn them on all the time! Vicky and Gavin decorated Trevor Barn with bunting and fairy lights for their vintage inspired wedding and when I saw the pictures I fell in love. Life should be this pretty all the time!

bunting fairy lights wedding blog (1)Lovely Jade Osborne Photography sent me her images of their day, from the bridal preparations to the groom’s delight (see the photos!) as he saw the yellow Robin Reliant arrive to take him to the wedding… and then on to the reception.

I’ve included more images of the ceremony than usual, simply because there’s such a charming sequence of images as Vicky arrives and Gavin’s nerves – and tears – being to show! I love the moment where he sees his beautiful bride and smiles: it’s always wonderful and to me this moment says, “so long as you’re by my side everything will be ok”.

Hello everyone! Have you chosen your wedding venue? I wonder – how did you choose your perfect location? Sometimes practicality comes first: is it convenient to get to, close to home, near a motorway or miles away from anywhere? Sometimes couples make a shortlist but end up falling head over heels in love with a quirky little place they didn’t consider at first! It can be a little like buying a house: a wedding venue can feel just right, or you suddenly imagine yourselves there and you know it’s “the one”.

Today’s blog post / bridal shoot will help you whether you’ve found your wedding venue or not: if you’re still looking it gives a little more to think about. If you’ve found the perfect venue, it will help you see it in a new light. Images are by my very creative and talented friend Jamie at Vickerstaff Photography, and are from a bridal shoot at The Fisherman’s Retreat in Lancashire.

The jury is out as to whether today’s wedding is more of an “Ewok party” or a “secret wedding in the woods” – and our beautiful bride and gorgeous groom can’t decide! What’s for sure is that this is one of the best weddings I’ve seen – and it really fits both descriptions beautifully. Weddings should be a magical adventure in every way, and Louise and Toby made theirs so much more than that – it’s just brilliant!

Their wedding photographer is the very lovely Clare West, a documentary photographer based in Reading. She comes very highly recommended by today’s star bride and groom, and I love that she captures the details of the day so beautifully. Louise told me, “Clare took time to capture a lot of the little details and delicate touches that we had spent so long working on.” For me that’s really important! Details and special touches are the frame around the essence of your wedding: just as you’d place a cherished photo in a special frame, if you wrap your wedding in prettiness then you want to have detail photographs in your album to recreate the atmosphere of your day around those magical moments, right?

Hello there lovely wedding blog fans – it’s treat time this morning, and I’m feeling very much like Winnie the Pooh when it’s time for elevenses… oh how everyone’s favourite bear would have LOVED Kalm Kitchen‘s new street food stalls. They look as delicious as their contents must taste – and they’re perfect for weddings! All images are by wedding photographer Eddie Judd.

Morning everyone! I feel like sunshine today… and especially for my fellow soggy northerners this week I bring you all the sunshine you could need in the form of Nathalie’s lush sunflowers! Yay! Beautiful Nathalie and Daniel were married at the fabulous Folly Farm near Bristol and chose lovely Joseph Hall as their wedding photographer.

Folly Farm sunflower wedding (1)

The sunflower inspired colours and rustic country style of their venue are a perfect match, and despite the rain (which kind of makes the day look even more charmingly English in the gorgeous photos!) their day is wonderfully inspiring. It’s a wedding both elegant and in tune with nature, with summery bouquets and a rich green and yellow colour palette. Bridesmaids are in lush green and Daniel and his best boys sport the cutest yellow buttonholes to match the flower in Nathalie’s hair. The flowers and venue really make this Somerset wedding very special indeed!

Huge thanks to lovely Joseph Hall Photography for the feature. Do visit his website and find out more about his work – especially if you’re looking for a Somerset wedding photographer!

Hello, and happy Wednesday to you! I have a beautifully elegant English wedding to share with you today – Annabelle and James were married at St Joseph’s church in Blundellsands and chose Thornton Manor for their wedding reception. They’d travelled from London for their wedding in the north west, which kind of proves how desirable Thornton Manor is as a top class wedding venue! Worth a journey… and then some! Their day is elegantly styled with just a few, but such beautiful details and special touches: a white bouquet, pale gold bridesmaids’ dresses and ties. You really don’t need more than this for such a stunning venue!

Hello my lovely! I hope you’re smiling this morning – it’s going to be a beautiful day 🙂 Shall we start with a look at Jenny Packham’s bridal collection for Spring 2015? Jenny’s collections always seem to capture the timeless elegance so many brides look for – and the dresses she’s designed for 2015 are no exception.

Jenny Packham bridal collection 2015

The Jenny Packham 2015 bridal collection was inspired by a series of creative portrait photographs taken in the 1930s. The photographer Yevonde Middleton, or ‘Madame Yevonde’ was a pioneer of her time, creating beautifully styled images of society ladies in the costumes of legendary heroines which you can see here.

elegant wedding dresses Jenny Packham 2015

The series of images which inspired Jenny Packham‘s 2015 bridal collection are known as ‘The Goddesses’. Yevonde’s images were exhibited at the PM Gallery in London in the summer of 2o11, and her stylised images of mythological heroines – Helen of Troy, Persephone, Venus – captured an ancient world of antiquity, within a modern and hauntingly beautiful treatment. The colours used; soft, tonal, always romantic, and the feminine way she played with light and colour to create a hazy, neoclassical ambiance, directly influenced the design and palette of this season’s collection.

It doesn’t usually take me this long to sort through the images I’m sent for a wedding blog feature, but photographer David Stubbs sent me so many gorgeous images I was truly spoilt for choice! I know you’ll love Louise and Christopher’s wedding – they have individuality and style; they’ve created a wedding day full of ideas and which looks as amazing in the images as it must have been to be there on the day!

Louise is a stunning bride in her Enzoani dress and Christopher looks fab in his Next jacket and trousers – loving those polka dots and the shades! The VW camper van is a star; there’s a gorgeous little flower girl who almost steals the show and of course (as Louise puts it!) – a bucking bronco! I’ve been kind and only included the picture of Christopher as he’s doing well on the back of it… hehe!

Hello! Are you having a lovely day? I hope you have wonderful things planned for the weekend… I know I do, as I get to see my favourite sister, her lovely hubby and my gorgeous little nephew too! But first, a little wedding loveliness for you courtesy of wedding stationery designer Heather Marten. Heather’s lifelong love of “arty stuff and stationery” led to her launching her own wedding stationery business in 2001 – and she’s never looked back!

Heather Marten’s Folk Art wedding stationery collection is right up my street! This design is called ‘Vintage Fete’ – with bunting like a little rainbow, bird illustrations and deliciously curvy ‘handwritten’ style fonts… it’s my favourite from a pretty impressive collection!

I’ve said it many times before, but it’s really important to me: your wedding is the perfect opportunity to support small, independent businesses and Heather Marten is one of those which comes very highly recommended. Heather has 25 stockists and even sells her fabulous stationery in Paris… which is pretty awesome, is it not?!
